The whole tag was cracking me up with Dave taking a good look from all sides. And of course the height difference still amuses me to no end. lmao

I don't know the real reason why they decided to cast SM, of course I can't imagine it was just for his height, he is a very talented actor, but I think it was brilliant to chose someone who was so much taller than Sheldon himself. One of the premise of the show is that he thinks to be superior to all the guys and that superiority shows up also with the height difference (I guess in the auditions for Sheldon's character they were searching for a tall thin guy for sure...) and now Amy is dealing with a person so much taller that he is. Funny indeed...well, not for Sheldon!

Darlin was a good choice----a catchy tune with appropriate lyrics to the situation.  And as an added bonus---an earworm now stuck in every Shamy shippers head, not just Sheldon's!   At least it is in my case---but that might be because I keep listening to it :)

@Jenafan....two things I want to say (well actually three).

1.) I sincerely apologize for making you feel bad with your post.  I didn't write it to make you feel bad at all and I wasn't being sarcastic.  Shocked?  Yes!  Very!  And I still stand firm that she wouldn't have slept with Dave THAT night.  Down the road in another month or so if Sheldon was still digging in his heels to just be friends?  Yeah, maybe.  And then regret it.

2.) I cuss a lot!  You mentioned awhile ago (I think it was you...correct me if I'm wrong) that your husband cusses a lot because that's just how he is.  Well, that's how I am.  I even do it without even realizing it a lot of times.  It's kind of a running joke in my family.  If I'm out in public and strike up a conversation with someone and they suddenly look shocked or offended or something, I'll slide glance my kids or husband and whisper "Which one did I say?" meaning a cuss word because I honestly don't realize I've said one (or two) a lot of the time.  I'm in my mid 40's and I've been doing it my whole adult life and it's become second nature to me now.  I do it without realizing it.  So from now on, if you see cussing in my posts, please don't take offense.  It's just how I am.

3). Now with that being said, one of the cool things about writing on a forum is that you can go back and change anything you want on here.  Or so I thought.  Before I submit a post, I go back and read it and believe me, I've taken out a lot of cuss words on past posts but we all know how fucked up (sorry for this F bomb but there's just no other word that fits this time) the quote/post function is on this site!!  When I went to read my post before submitting, it wouldn't let me change the first half of my post.  I have no idea why.  I wanted to take out my F bomb, change the spelling of "here" to "hear" in the first paragraph and soften the second paragraph so it didn't sound snarky or I guess to use your words, sarcastic.

Again, I apologize for upsetting you.  It was not my intention to do so.  I was just shocked by your post about it and I reacted with my opinion on the matter.  And don't let what ANYBODY on here says to cause you to leave the forum.  I also enjoy your posts too much for you to do that.

Haha, yes, not matter the reason I think the casting was brilliant!

I did think the scenes with the three of them made some great comedic use of their height difference. Stephen Merchant has perfected all those ~hovering over people's heads~ moves and just seeing Sheldon awkwardly looking over Amy's head to Dave, then back down to Amy, back up to Dave, etc... that was hilarious! LOL

Also, LMAO at the way Dave slides into the picture from behind the door. Smooth! hahaha

Dave really is brilliant in this scene! The way he pops up from behind the door (btw: I still wonder how he got there from the couch without Sheldon seeing him...it's not as if he is too small to see.:mosking:) And have you noticed that Sheldon shakes his hand just like that? Our Sheldon who is/was so afraid of any kinds of (unnecessary) physical contact when we first met him? Well, Amy really did 'soften his life'.  And Dave now has another reason never to wash this hand again.

That was so hilarious! I still don't know how he managed to kinda hover from behind the door, he just slides from there. His physical comedy is amazing! When they are just sitting on the cough with Amy and it's all awkward, he managed to make the audience laugh by simply being him.

And can we talk about how he almost moonwalks out of the apartment when Amy kicks the door. His head almost touches the doorframe  He was a perfect choice for this role!

And yes, my heart melted a little when Mr. germophobic shook his hand without a second thought.

The first time they filmed this scene. They covered up the hallway so we couldn't see Sheldon outside about to knock on the door. So I watched Dave. As soon as Amy got up to answer the door so did Dave. He ran round the back of the couch to hide behind the door before Amy even got the door open.

I don't know if it was Dave trying to give them privacy or a camera set up.

You know what I noticed? That kiss in the picture is different from the kiss that aired yesterday. Sheldon's left arm in this picture is wrapped more around Amy's back instead of around her shoulders. Also, this embrace seems to be just a little closer. Not that I've analyzed this kiss a million times or anything lol. I think I do recall when Kazzie did her TR she said that 2 different kisses were filmed. One where Amy pulls Sheldon back into the kiss (which is the one that we saw) and one where Sheldon and Amy engage in some eye coitus before kissing. The picture above must be from that other take.

Yeah, I noticed that too! This kiss looks even hotter than the one we finally saw... But, YKW? I'm actually happy they chose the other one. It's incredibly awkward, sweet, passionate and hot at the same time... It screams so 'Shamy' to me every time I re-watch it!

Not that I'm complaining CBS showed us this too :girlwink: Actually, thank you, CBS! Another Shamy kiss in the bank :heat:

I also think Amy wouldn't have gone all the way with Dave, for the same reason she was so much more nervous than Sheldon during the bed scenes. She is fine with the idea of intimacy ("Intimate is what I need"), she has longed for that (with Sheldon, of course) for so much time, she has in her mind all those romantic and sometimes unrealistic expectations, but when things became real, she's the one with cold feet. For Sheldon, instead, it is the exact opposite. If you notice the previews in next episode, for example, when they are on the couch, she is the one who leans for kissing him, even grabbing him when he is searching for his phone, she seems very comfortable, she has that sexy pose (that Sheldon can't see, since the door was locked...) Sheldon is nervous instead, because he has fought with  romance and intimacy all his life. At that point, they are both dealing just with the idea of being intimate, they are not at that point yet. In bed is the opposite, Sheldon feels everything is getting real, he sees her in her nightgown and he likes what he sees (by the way, for me the reason Amy was wearing her usual tights during the date was just to make the more striking the comparison between her usual way to dress and that bed outfit...), he is calm, since it is what he really wants. For Amy, instead, that is the moment her fantasies meet the reality, when she fully realizes that she doesn't know what to do, what to expect, what to feel and she is scared.

And this happens with Sheldon, the very person in the world she loves and trust, with whom she has shared many intimate moments, not just from a physical point of view...I don't think that with Dave, a guy she has seen 4 times in her life, with whom she has shared just a peck on the lips and some chat about a cheating ex-wife, she would have gone that far. She said she would, and I think she might mean it...but, in my opinion, she would have had some panic attack at some point...

Spot on, mirs! Perfectly said :good:

Well spotted!

This could just be a photoshoot, on big scenes between takes, they sometimes pose for official photos to be taken. I've seen it happen a few times. They did it for the finale kiss as well

Thank you, Kathy.

To be fair, I can be quite oversensitive sometimes, especially when I take the risk of stating an opposing or unpopular view.   It is my goal to express an opinion and not to offend others.   I don't mind opposing views, and you know yourself that I have come back and admitted to a change in view as a result of others' well thought out convincing arguments.   However, if I start to feel my posts are pissing people off to the point insults, attacks, and ridicule become the order of the day, I run in the other direction and regret the decision to express myself.   It makes me want to stop posting all together.   I am guilty of overreaction, trust me.

Your point number (2) cracked me up.   My husband is the same way.   In fact, it is a joke in his family that the first word out of his mouth was Sh**.   His entire family expresses themselves with profanity in everyday conversation.   I on the other hand got my face slapped whenever I dared to say such things, and had it drilled into me that it's disrespectful.   I've had to learn to put up with my husband because I want to keep him around, and he does try to curb it around me.     That's not to say I don't ever cuss.   You should have heard the words that came flying out of my mouth at the television when Sheldon threw those insults at Amy and encouraged her to break up with him and then again at Amy for not forgiving him for his actions.   ....And my husband has banned me from watching my favorite sport, football, because I get so carried away with the game.

I just try not to use profanity or refrain from making comments in my posts that could possibly imply that the other person is wrong for seeing something differently than I do.   Instead, I make an attempt to continue defending my position or decide to relinquish it in favor of another's viewpoint.   I love reading your posts, absolutely love your Avatar, and you have helped me to see things from a different perspective many times.

You are not the only one I have had sensitivity issues with. There is another poster on this forum who doesn't hang out much on this thread anymore, whom I have a great deal of respect for.   We just express ourselves differently, and like you have done here, he explained to me why he communicates the way he does and now I don't get offended anymore by what he writes, nor does he get offended by me.   In fact, we "like" each other quite a bit now.   So, now I know not to take your choice of words personally, that this is just how you communicate and you are not trying to be offensive.   So, please forgive me that my comment caused you to have to reassure me of such.   I should have known you better.

Back to the Amy thing.   I agree that the Amy we love and whose heart is so devoted to Sheldon would never have considered a fling with Dave, nor do I want to ruin her character by even thinking she would.   However, given the vulnerable state she was in that Sheldon had shot her down, the result could have turned out quite differently to the shock of all of us who never thought it possible.    It's not of matter of knowing or not knowing Amy.  The opportunity was there, and whether she may or may not have used it is open to interpretation and speculation based on individual perspective of Amy's history when faced with hurt, the conversations had, and the actions taken between the time Amy called Dave to invite him over and the moment Sheldon showed up at her door.

This is unlike watching a few episodes and deciding whether or not Amy's mannerisms meant she was falling in love with Sheldon in early S4 by misreading a facial expression or piece of dialogue, as I did.  We don't even know if Dave was interested in taking the date past a kiss on the couch.   Nonetheless, whether Amy would have stood firm as the strong woman she is who has always been guarded about her sexuality and knows it wouldn't be right, or whether she would have given into vulnerability to attempt filling the Sheldon-size void in her heart was never played out.  Both scenarios have merit.

Off topic with the current discussion.

I would like to add Sheldon is so cute when he is filming himself. Someone could find a gif with his smile after he says he has paid food that Penny eats ?

And his mischievous eyes after his joke to Leonard.

Jim/Sheldon is adorable in all this episode.

If you look at Amy, when she gets off the couch, not only does she appear annoyed at Dave for his comment about his hair looking good for Sheldon, but she nods her head at him in a gesture to get off the couch and behind the door.   She didn't want Sheldon to see he was there.
