She was basically offered it on a plate by Kripke, someone she has known for quite some time, she sort of nodded in a 'hmm maybe' way at his naked picture and he once bought her a bottle of wine and was very sweet to her after she helped him at work - she had the option to 'get it over with' right there and she didn't.

Add in the fresh pain of Sheldon rejecting her, if she really was thinking about just getting her freak on to get over the pain then she could have called Kripke, probably not Stuart as some have suggested, because she seems to find him creepy #Same 

She did not call the guy she knew was 'up for it' though she called nice, sweet, safe Dave, the kind of guy that a girl could happily settle down with as a second choice. I feel really bad for Amy! from what we've seen of her she had a distant mother and has been rejected romantically all of her adult life, she just wants to be loved and happy  

BUT this is the woman who eats Bananas sideways because her mother told her that's what good girls do! She's nervous as hell when it finally comes to getting in bed with Sheldon, who she's known/loved for 5 and a half years, I totally believe that she would have slept with and settled with Dave but I can't get my head around her jumping in the sack with him that night.

i honestly laughed out loud when I read that, not having ever heard the term DPM before.  Loved that as a guy that's what he thought though, especially knowing where next week goes!

Maybe my husband should have it trademarked? I had never heard it before ...he had to explain and I was like ooooo..... Well..... Go Shelly! So many people love the DPM....

I don't think they would have known exactly when it was going to happen, but I do think they may have known it was going to happen this season.  Jim is clearly still working out and Mayim has mentioned a couple of times about using the gym on the lot.

It would be an interesting combination I must admit. I hope they extend TBBT two more seasons, including Dave to the main cast, so we still have more seasons with our beloved couple plus a new story that the writers can develop. But before Dave meets Vanessa, he has to get over his man crush for Sheldon (which might take a few seasons, because you don´t get over Dr. Sheldon Cooper so easy ), then have a few dates with different kind of women (for example Leslie Winkle) and then finally meet Vanessa. But I can also see them writing a new sitcom about Dave. I would watch it!

Things wrong about it being Kripkie: he knows Sheldon, he's a creepy pervert & he would have shouted it from the rooftops if Amy had given herself to him. Plus he's under the impression she isn't a virgin anymore, that's probably why he'd pursued her. That's why she would have gone with Dave instead. To avoid all that type of drama -it would have been like the Raj 'sleeping' with Penny thing all over again with Kripkie- plus Dave likes her, if she wanted to bed him he'd have let her. Like I said he was just as desperate for that intamacy as Amy is. But it being her first, if Sheldon hadn't have come knocking, she'd have gotten as far as making out in her bedroom before she'd realised the mistake she was about to do. Like you said, she's a pile a of nerves next week, and that's with a man she's known for 5 years. However, I think that adds to the nerves. If she was going to do it with Dave, I doubt she'd have told him she'd have just let him do it. It would have literally been like an experiment. I dunno. Come tomorrow I'll probably have changed my mind again  

I agree I do feel bad for Amy too. She does just want to be fully loved. But so does Shelly. They just didn't (past tense yay!) communicate it. I guess it's pride. I love how everything comes down to communication.

I don't think that either of them working out has anything to do with (as Jim has put it) baring flesh.  Jim has bared flesh a few times and from the taping report, it wold appear that we are only going to see Mayim's shoulders above the blanket.

Jim's been running up to 5 miles a day for years.  He started working with a personal trainer last year and kept it up all summer while in NYC.  He mentioned in an interview once that he realized that when he hit a certain age, he was going to hsve to put more effort into staying in shape.  Probably the same reason that Mayim is now talking about working out. (She turned 40 today).

In an interview for Glamour earlier this month Mayim talked about finding out:

We found out the night before we did the table reading, just like always. We get the script during the taping of the previous episode, and I never read the scripts [that night]. I always wait until the next morning right before we sit down at the table and I go over them. This one time, I started reading, and I passed Jim [Parsons] in the hallway and I said, “Did you read the script yet?!” He said, “No. Do we do it?” and I said, “YES!” He was like, “What?!” He just threw it out there as a joke. We couldn’t believe it.

Though from the promo clip we got I would say Amy's night gown is actually slightly rose coloured or something and not perfectly white.

I remember him saying in an interview that he had refused to wear a Princess Leia bikini costume because of an 'issue' around the middle.  I also remember him saying about how he would need 6 months notice so he could get into shape if they wanted him to bare flesh, which they did last year with him in the bath.

I watched the preview again and you are right, it does look like a little bit rose coloured. But it doesn´t matter, because she still looks innocent in this night gown. But I´m sure  that deep insight,  lies a naughty girl, that waits to be awakened. Now, that they are going to have sex, I guess that Amy doesn´t want to wait a full year to have sex again. I´m sure she´ll find a wait to convince him, to break the pause. I would love to see an episode where Leonard´s father appears and meets Amy. Amy is desperate because she wants to get intimate with Sheldon again, but doesn´t have any ideas, so he gives her some advice, (because as an anthropologist he surely does know a lot about sexual habits between genders during the decades) to demonstrate her willingness for physical intimacy. Amy hears him out and decides to do a Mating dance (I don´t know if this is the correct word for it, but I hope you understand anyway) for Sheldon, which confuses Sheldon completely, because he doesn´t get her point. I would laugh so much, Amy dancing, shaking her hips and jumping around, while Sheldon´s face says something like "wtf?!"
