Yes to this.  I've always seen Sheldon as highly emotional for just the reasons you gave.  He's also very passionate about the things that matter to him.  Once upon a time only rules, schedules, and various sci-fi and fantasy things.  Now, that includes Amy.  That's why I always thought that once Sheldon decided he wanted a sexual relationship with her (because I honestly never doubted that they would get there), she'd better look out.  So I was MORE than happy to see her condition after her bday gift, it was just what I had hoped to see!

I love this post so much.  I can't push the like button enough!

Sorry to hear about your mothers health issues, MS is what my uncle died of and he was in his 30's. *sends you virtual hugs*

Sheldon is not really sick though, he has a flu and he over reacts every time which is why all of his friends are annoyed at him. When Leonard thought that his appendix had burst he worried about him and was about to take him straight to the hospital to get checked out in the middle of the night, if they were worried about him then Amy would be too :)

I don't mean to put a damper on things, but my comment about almost losing my husband, changed my view on caring for the ones I love even when they are not the best patients.    The flu was what almost killed him.   Extremely high fever, dehydration, etc. etc.    I am with Monique.   I will never leave my loved one alone again when he is sick.  I even take personal time off from work to be home with him.   Bad experiences ruin people, and sometimes it bleeds into enjoying something that should indeed be comical, as this episode is supposed to be.

I'm sure I will enjoy the show, but it's not going to stop me from being a little made at Amy.   I am glad you pointed out that if his friends aren't worried about him, then Amy shouldn't either, and that makes me feel a little better.

Of course, the show hasn't aired, so the take on the whole thing might even be quite different than I am imagining.

Damn, you're right! Okay then...family reunion. LOL!

We're hardly over Christmas yet. The opening credits could say, 'One month ago in Texas/Pasadena' or something like that. It could be after Amy's birthday and just before Christmas. The nephew was born at tree-decorating time.

I was thinking about the fact that at some point they are going to get around to Sheldon and Amy having sex again.  I think it will happen sooner rather than later. Definitely not a year from now on Amy's next birthday.  So I was thinking about how they get around Sheldon's comment about looking forward to her next birthday to do it again.  I can so see him wanting her and her questioning him about that remark.

In my head, his response will be "Oh Amy, the Bazinga was implied" before leading her to the bedroom.  In this scenario, an "oh my" from Amy would be appreciated.  :icon_cheesygrin:

Edited to say, Sheldon has used that line before.

I get what you mean, Jenafan.  Anyone with a chance of getting flu needs watching. We've seen a picture of Sheldon in his dressing gown standing up so he hadn't got flu. Whatever he had it allowed him to make a pain in the bum of himself so again, it can't have been flu. I had two strong young cousins, strapping blokes, both as fit as fiddles who were thought not to need flu jabs so they didn't bother with them and they both died. I'm sure if it had been anything serious, such as flu, the others would have packed Sheldon off to hospital and sent for Amy and his relatives. I'd like to hear what Amy actually says.

When?

Season 3 Episode 3 The Gothowitz Deviation.

Sheldon is trying to create a better Penny with chocolate as a reward. Leonard tries to stop him.

Sheldon: There's just no pleasing you, is there Leonard. You weren't happy with my previous approach to dealing with her, so I decided to employ operant conditioning techniques, building on the works of Thorndike and BF Skinner.  By this time next week, I believe that I can have her jumping out of a pool, balancing a beach ball on her nose.

Leonard: No, this has to stop now.

Sheldon: I'm not suggesting that we really make her jump out of a pool.  I thought the Bazinga was implied.  I'm just tweaking her personality, sanding off the rough edges, if you will.

I tend to think it may be a reunion more than birthday. That would be an awfully quick trip. Amy's birthday is December 17.....I usually decorate my tree way before a week before Christmas. Plus if it was before the 12th.....amy and Sheldon weren't together. I hope when we see meemaw, Amy is there. So I really hope it's not a flashback.

But that's my opinion. I like the reunion idea or Meemaw and Missy visiting with his nephew because he is showing signs of genius.

Whoever said that....I love it.

About children on screen in TBBT:

In season 2 a little girl named Rebecca talked with Sheldon about birds and monkeys (it was a funny scene!)

In season 5, the Tiara episode,  children interacted with Bernie and Howard (another funny scene)

In season 7, Amy, Penny and Bernie shared a fancy vintage tea with a group of little girls dressed up to the nines.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the "oh my", not the "I thought the bazinga was implied" lol. Sorry for wasting your time. lol

I've always assumed he'd be a genius and would be in the show eventually if it ran for long enough.  When his parents can't cope they'll be sending him to Sheldon and Amy.  We know Sheldon suffered too much from age-peers for them to make the mistake of sending him to school. Mary and Meemaw's input will be useful, based on their experience of his prototype, but Sheldon and Amy will 'get' what he's about, as will their friends. When Sheldon takes him home on the train for vacs he'll have his father and his other uncle for the ordinary stuff, just as Sheldon's father made some attempt to give him when he was alive but hopefully less half-heartedly.

So it was a really funny episode! But turns out the kids only appeared on the tag scene and were Raj's imaginary family with the girl he just met LOL

They showed us Thursday episode and it was also really funny!

Only caught about half of the chat room convo but thanks for sharing. I chose not to weigh in on the Meemaw appearance here because unlike most folks I didn't think she would be very happy with Amy after undoubtedly learning of the break up from Mary (and maybe Sheldon)...her appearance so soon after the reconciliation was a bit unnerving, and now you've confirmed why lol!

yeah it's a no brainer that Meemaw, who is loved so much by Sheldon, is very protective of her grandson and probably spent a lot of his childhood consoling him because of the bullying and what not...why wouldn't she see Amy as a threat to Sheldon after what he went through during the drawn out break up?

Interesting episode sounds like, can't wait to see it! Thanks again

so k “you already got my virginity, get it together' what does that even mean?

it wasn't the exact line apparently  !

And i guess it meant that once Amy found out about the ring, she was dropping hints etc for him to propose to her right then, and when he got that, he replied to her with smth along those lines, meaning ok 'i just gave you my virginity, is it not enough for you right now? do you need a proposal too? '

That's how i understood it : ) I don't think it was anything drama though, it sounded like it was just a comedic line!
