All hail Herb Garden!

The more I think about it more I'm conviced that that bitch (Constance, because Meemaw is a very cute word to apply to her) was testing them as a couple (and Sheldon to see what he would do if someone messed with his woman), but specially Amy.

But if she was testing them, wouldn't she admit it in the end? I mean things got really intense between her and Amy...Just reading the TRs, I felt nervous and unpleasant.

i agree with all your points including your assessment of Amy after the aquarium lol! Amy was written OOC, there wasnt a wrap up of the breakup and the communication issues they experienced that led to it, and all the other points you make. Bottom line is that Shamy sounds pretty healthy at the end of the Meemaw episode and im happy for that. i just dont applaud Amys reaction to Meemaw as others do, just have a different take on it. no one right or wrong in the end!

Bold : i wish people in the Discussion Thread agreed to disagree like that haha x D

to me the break up was fine (i mean, not in character but fine) until the post-aquarium scene,  then, i got REALLY pissed at Amy (and the writers for making her THAT inconsiderate of his feelings), i thought it was handled really bad, but then 9x10 happened and all was forgiven & forgotten haha. But if i'm trying to be honest and objective, i do not think the break up was wrapped up well at all. Granted, the outcome has been amazing and don't get me wrong, i couldn't be happier for it, but i did feel bad for how they've portrayed Amy...

Anyways, i'm just happy Shamy are happy now!!!

I understand that the writers use lines like this just for laughs and to show us Sheldon is still Sheldon. But they should really have some boundaries. The "Just because I love you doesn't mean girls are allowed in my room" is cute and funny. But this? It's hurtful and unnecessary.

i feel the same way! i also think the prom line was cute and funny, but things like this, or 'next year line' from 9x11 (i remember me, you and jenafan were the only ones truly upset about it i think), or 'and you never will!' (about his spot) are just plain hurtful to me : (

exactly! i was not a fan of the breakup and how Amy was portrayed as cold and indifferent at times, and how the so-called "friends" appeared to actually encourage and enable the breakup. just yuck....and Amy's return to Sheldon after a date at the aquarium because she was now "ready to be his gf again"...but like you, once reconciliation took place (and in a very inventive way) i was okay with sweeping the issues i had surrounding the breakup under the rug...

and with Shamy sealing the deal with coitus and everyone being so happy i prefer to leave the breakup in the past. seems like Meemaw has conjured some of that angst back up for some of us lol...but like you said, im happy Shamy are happy! lets hope they keep it that way

I know, right?

It's like the storyline where Penny doesn't remember Leonard's birthday. It's hurtful and ridiculous.

I really don't understand the writers sometimes. They worked so hard for years on these ships to make them loveable. Then they just threw in random lines/plots here and there to destroy their ships for some cheesy jokes. And the jokes are not even funny!

----------------------------------

Okay one of my friends provided another explanation for Sheldon's "never cared enough to ask". She said they added this line to make Sheldon annoying, so that he's still the old Sheldon... By saying this, Sheldon blamed Amy for not asking instead of blaming himself for not telling. I have to say if this is the writers' purpose,  they did a really good job lol.

this bit kinda bothers me for 2 reasons:

1. like i think @camelliayao mentioned, inconsistency in writing - i have a hard time believing that Amy, having talked on the phone with Meemaw, hasn't heard the word 'Moonpie' from her, not once. I mean yeah there could be explanations  - she actually got the recipe through Mary, Meemaw only calls Sheldon 'moonpie' in front of him, etc etc, but i still find it hard to believe. In 5 years of their friendship Penny should have mentioned the word ''moonpie' at least once, since originally she was so amused by it!

2. but anyways inconsistencies aside - let's say it is totally plausible Amy's never heard about it - why the hell Meemaw and apparently Sheldon make it sound like it's some kind of her fault?! First of all - 'And you never cared enough to ask' - was she supposed to ask 'Sheldon, does your Meemaw have a petname for you?'. I mean, it's never occurred to me to ask any boy or any of my close friends such a question lol! Doesn't mean i didn't love them.

Secondly - if originally Meemaw was like 'Penny and Leonard knew and you didn't!' - the only reason Penny knew is cause she's read letters she wasn't supposed to read! And ofc she told Leonard and the guys. How is that Amy's fault she wasn't around then and she hasn't gone through his private stuff against his wishes? :o

Don't get me wrong guys, i'm just nitpicking, it's not like i'm really upset by that or anything, i just thought Sheldon's and Meemaw's logic on this one is VERY weird!

Yeah... The question was more "why that particular pet name," not surprise at him having it.  Good points all, though.

Hail!

Then it's more confusing. Imagine this, Sheldon told Amy Meemaw called him Moonpie. And then what? Amy didn't ask why? I mean it's not even logical...It's not about whether she cares or not, I think any normal person would continue to ask "why"...

Ughhhhhhh. I guess the writers just use this line as a joke. I probably should let go but it's really ridiculous...

I promise this is my last post about this problem.

No but the couch scene was adorable and we get everything in that scene.

1. sheldon defending Amy

2. meemaws acceptance

3. Amy wants that ring

4. Sheldon basically said cool it its coming

5. They are so an old married couple with the "oh now you're going to get all emotional.

6. He is proudly announcing the vcard is gone

So it was really perfectly done and the looks he gives Meemaw and Amy are adorable

Oh phew - thank you , that does sound adorable - can't wait to see it :)

Thanks again for the info xX

"And now for something completey different..."

Last night we got to watch The Empathy Optimization of course, and that reminded that Raj says, in response to the idea that a break from Sheldon might do them good since it worked for Amy, that that sounds good as long as he doesn't mean that he has to have coitus with him afterwards.  That reminded me that everyone knows that SHELDON COOPER HAD SEX and we still haven't seen ANY reaction from anyone to that fact.  Is that not driving anyone else crazy?  No one brought it up last night (well, besides Sheldon himself at the end, hee hee).  What the heck?!  3 episodes in, I was really hoping for at least some mention.  I mean I don't want anyone teasing them about it together necessarily, but the guys saying something to Sheldon, or something...anything...anyone else?

If so, what would you actually LIKE to see happen?

I really feel they are trying to hard to push it to the back burner that its starting to just not make sense.

It would have been so funny to have a girls night right afterwords the deed in which girls teased Amy and asked for all possible details or to see the boys the day after at work teasing Sheldon but soon after regretting it since they were getting too much details...But unfortunately that didn't happen, and for me now it's kind of too late, it doesn't make sense that type of conversation after a month (?) or so has passed. Possible explanations, IMO: first of all, as many of us have already said, the writers wanted to see how the general audience would have liked the development, so they didn't want to stress it too much before being sure that the audience was ready for a sexual active Shamy.  But, I think a big component in their decision is the timing itself: there is a 3 weeks hiatus between 9.11 and 9.12, they are not back-to-back episodes, maybe the writers felt that  for the general audience the "tension" was gone after waiting so long for a new episode and it was better to just move on to other subjects, also to catch up with real time. Anyway, at least we got some sort of (weak) mention of the big event in all the episodes so far: the deal between Sheldon and Raj about baby names (Raj would not have made it if he didn't know that now babies are possible without a fertility clinic), the comment Raj makes about coitus in 9.13 (and if I remember correctly Sheldon himself says something about it in one of the Skype calls with Amy in 9.13, about missing the time there was "mystery" in their relationship) and now Sheldon himself that admits they are not virgins anymore with his grandmother, no less. TBH, I'm not disappointed they are not making a big deal out of it; of course it would have been funny to have the guys pointing out that "finally Smelly-Shelly got laid" (quoting Raj), but I like their approach too, it's not a big deal, it's something meant to happen and that it's not changing the core of their relationship, it makes it better and gets them closer, but it's not the center of it now.

What I'd like to see now? Well, Amy in 4A in the morning, Lenny and Shamy having breakfast together, maybe getting into each other feet (just to address the living arrangements, 4 people can't fit in that place), maybe guys interrupting a date night at the wrong time, Sheldon providing too much information...

That would make sense! When don't the guys tease Sheldon, and he returns the favor by making their life hell. I mean I am also Ok with it. I just figured they gang are nervous to tease him about this, I think Sheldon would be overly sensitive. If they know its safe to assume the teasing happened when they found out.  I don't like coming in here as dolly doubter, but I would have preferred to see that and have some discussion/look into Sheldon's head about it.

Thanks for the taping reports, jlove! Wonderful job! And thanks for the additional details, kerry and kazzie!

Hurrah for Amy snapping 'Well, maybe I don't like you!' There's my girl. Confident of her own worth and in no mood for some overprotective (grand)mother figure's bullshit.

Hurrah, again, for Amy telling Meemaw not to treat Sheldon like a child.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA for Sheldon's hilariously, characteristically egoistic comparison of himself to Meemaw and his 'little work in progress' to Pop-pop! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Never change, Shelly-bean. April, I completely agree that this was akin to his 'I like you, quirks and all' speech- that was exactly what I thought when I read it. And you know what, Sheldon? You have done so much work in the recent past that you get to call yourself the saintly reformer, just this once. Especially since your idea of a saintly reformer (Meemaw) is.....kind of a bitch. I say this with love. She sounds awesome. Can't you just imagine the showrunners watching Downton Abbey and musing 'Now, how can we bring on a Dowager Countess Violet character, but for the show? I know- Meemaw!' Well played, show.

Now for the thing that makes me a bit twitchy:

(Sucks air through teeth) ooooo, I don't know if I like that. I know Amy was upset, and when you're upset you don't always choose the best words (and everybody who attended the taping, correct me if it plays differently), but 'his best shot'? Not a fan. It makes Amy sound a little....what? Entitled? Up herself (and not in an amusing way)? Like Sheldon should be grateful she came back, because she's the best he'll do? It's just such an unfortunate choice of words, and if I were a rabidly protective grandmother interrogating the woman whose behaviour hurt my darling grandson, a line like that would make me see red.

And also- Amy, Amy, Amy. Don't you realise by now? You are not Sheldon's 'best shot'. You are his only 'shot'. Not because there are no takers, but because he is not interested in anyone else. I know that Sheldon isn't irreplaceable to you the way you are to him, but it hurts  when you make throwaway remarks that make you sound so callous about this yawning power chasm between the two of you.

And if you wanted to get Meemaw on side, why didn't you just tell her the 'eggs' remark that pushed you to break up with him? What a clear example of the sort of crap that you didn't want to put up with!

ETA: Any of my fellow Shamies who read PG Wodehouse (specifically the Blandings Castle stories), did you giggle at the reveal that Meemaw's name was 'Constance'? Another seemingly-sweet-but-really-terrifying lady?

Did NOT like that either. BTW, you made me LOL at the "up herself (and not in an amusing way)" line. LOL! Too funny.

Not exactly happy if it's "I'm his best shot" but I'm not too upset about it.  But if it is Kerry's "I'm the best it's gonna get", I can get behind that more.  We shall see.

Yeah, 'I'm the best it's gonna get' is Up-Herself-Amy in an amusing way. I've missed that awesome cockiness. And especially after Gorgon Meemaw's side-swipes about Amy's career or not 'caring enough to ask' whether she had a pet-name for him*, it makes complete sense for Amy to say 'Screw you, Beldam Constance! I. Am. Hot. Shit!'

'I'm his best shot', however- cannot co-sign. It combines being entitled, cocky (in an UNamusing way) and vaguely-what? Threatening? 'Be nice to me, old woman, or your beloved grandson will never know happiness again'? Or, from the flip side, heartbreaking because-what? Amy thinks Sheldon knocked on her door because he was settling for her? Oh, girl. I want to shake her, either way.

*BTW, this was over-egging the pudding, writers. Forget whether or not Meemaw would have used the pet-name when she spoke with Amy earlier to give her the cookies recipe, which come on- she liked Amy then, didn't she? Why wouldn't she use the name? Would Penny, who could gossip for Pasadena, not tell Amy about the nickname? Then again, Penny apparently kept the lid on the ring thing all this time for......reasons.** So who the hell even knows.

** Possibly she thought Amy didn't want to get back together with Sheldon, so what was the point? Maybe. Okay, I'm not going to think about information transmission during the breakup plot, it'll just make me rage-y.

First of all: Thank you to everyone who shared details about the episode! And jlove: Thank you so much for the great report! :good:

Hesitating a bit to share my thoughts because they are biased due to personal experiences, on the other hand - so are most of our opinions... :icon_cheesygrin:

Okay, I simply hate the fact that sometimes our parents (or grandparents) think they need to tell us what to do and how to live our lives. Yes, I know, they do it because they love us, but hey, once we are grown up it is our life, and we need to make our own mistakes. That does not mean they cannot give advice (preferrably  when asked for it), but to tell someone who to marry or not to marry after about half an hour of knowing this person...ugh...no.

So I can totally understand that Amy was pissed off. And everything she said then (hand me down ring, being his best shot...), results from this anger. As she said: Sheldon is a grown man, and maybe if the people around him would stop putting up with everything he does he would learn to act like one. The fact that some people continue to pamper him (Mary and esp. Meemaw) results in the people living with him on a daily basis having to deal with the consequences.

Maybe if someone would have told him as a kid that it is not okay to verbally abuse others when you are sick he wouldn't have done it his whole life?

I'm absosutely okay with Amy learning about the heartbreak she caused him. And I'm okay with Meemaw telling her. But I got the impression that Meemaw wants Amy to continue to pamper her special boy (him needing more care...). And I just love that Amy somewhat tells her: No! I will not make the same mistake, I will let him grow up! :good: Maybe Meemaw realized something here? Maybe she has been too soft with her Moonpie? Maybe he is capable of so much more if you only let him? :shok:

And I also love that Sheldon proofs this to her by showing how much he has grown, how much he cares for Amy...and still continues to be Sheldon. :icon_cheesygrin:

So all in all this appears to be a great story that shows how much Shamy has grown as a couple!

Oooookay...ugh...just realized: In a few years when my eldest comes home with her first boyfriend, I hope I will remember what I said here... xD

Ok, could someone please translate "up-herself"?  To quote Prince Humperdinck:

I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.

Ok fellow Shamies, I typed up this report on the plane home just now. I've just landed and have another hour or so until I'll be home, but I thought I'd post this at least for you all real quick.  Sorry in advance that this is so long; it's pretty detailed so if you like more surprises and don't want that then don't read, but there was so much Shamy/Meemaw detail I wanted to write down that I couldn't resist.  I'll comment later with my feelings on the episode, but suffice to say it kinda hurt to watch after all the dreamy Meemaw meetings we've had in fanfics.  Anyway, here you go.  I haven't decided yet if I'm going to post it on the main thread or not, so please don't do so right now.

The Meemaw Materialization

There were two main storylines this week: Sheldon’s Meemaw visiting and Raj meeting a new woman.  Howardette was really only in the episode as support for the Raj story and Lenny was really only shown as a support to the Meemaw story.

The episode started with Sheldon, Leonard and Penny arriving in the lobby.  Sheldon gets the mail and finds a letter from Meemaw saying she is coming for a visit.  Leonard and Sheldon pick Meemaw up at the airport.  She immediately calls him Moonpie.  :-)
Sheldon says something insensitive to or about Leonard and Meemaw makes him apologize.  Leonard asks is she can stay with them forever.

Back at 4A Sheldon and Meemaw are alone, waiting for Amy to arrive.  When she knocks Sheldon jumps up excitedly and goes to answer the door, telling Meemaw he is sure they will get along great and that they have the same fashion sense.  Amy greets Meemaw and notices right away that Meemaw is sitting in his spot, saying “Even I don't get to sit there” to which Sheldon responds “And you never will.”  Sheldon goes to put Meemaw’s suitcase away, Meemaw telling him not look in the suitcase for presents because he might not only find that, but might also find her “brassieres and bloomers.”  Sheldon says that is a risk he is willing to take and runs down the hall.
As soon as he is gone, while Amy is attempting to make small talk , Meemaw says they should cut to the chase.  Sheldon doesn't know it but the real purpose of her visit is to size up Amy.  She says Mary may be fine with her but she's not so sure.  Amy is shocked and says she's sure Meemaw will like her once she gets to know her.  Sheldon runs back in with the train set Meemaw got him, oblivious to the conversation that just occurred and asks why Amy doesn't look happy when she'll get to watch  him play with his trains.

Later Leonard and Penny have joined Sheldon, Amy and Meemaw in 4A.  Meemaw calls Sheldon Moonpie again and Amy asks why she uses that nickname.  Meemaw says it is “because he is yummy yummy” before Sheldon, Leonard and Penny all join her to say “and she could just eat him up.”  Meemaw then pointed,y says it is strange how Leonard and Penny know that but Amy doesn't.  Then Meemaw says she heard Penny has a new job and Penny confirms that she is now a pharmaceutical sales rep.  Meemaw says she thinks it's wonderful that women today can have it all:  love and a fulfilling career.  Amy pipes up to say she has a great career as well, but Meemaw says that that doesn't bode well.  Amy is confused and asks why it is good for Penny but not her.  Meemaw says that Sheldon needs a lot more care than Leonard, and also Sheldon has told her that Leonard's job is really more of a hobby anyway.

The conversation deteriorates and it is clear that Meemaw has a problem with Amy.  She basically comes right out and says that she doesn't like her, to which Amy replies that maybe she doesn't like Meemaw either.  Sheldon is literally caught on the middle of the two women, as Meemaw is in his spot and Amy is on the other end of the couch.  Sheldon says they have to like each other, they have a 4:30 reservation at Applebee’s.  Amy says maybe she should go and gets up to leave.  Sheldon tries to stop her, but she tells him that as soon as he left the room earlier Meemaw started being mean to her.  Meemaw says he should let her go and “don't you dare give her that engagement ring you have.”  Right in front of Amy.  Totally intentional, no slip up. Amy immediately asks Sheldon what she means and how long he's had a ring.
At this point Leonard says he and Penny should leave and give them some privacy.  Penny tells him to go ahead, she'll come later.
Sheldon tells Amy that he got the ring from his mother and was thinking about giving it to her before the breakup.  Amy then asks Penny if she knew about this, at which point Penny jumps up with Leonard and leaves “to give them some privacy.”

Mermaw interrupts the conversation and Amy tells him to tell her to keep out of it but Sheldon, obviously uncomfortable with standing up to his Meemaw,  says he can't do that.  Then Meemaw says to tell Amy “that that ring will never be on her finger,” but he says he doesn’t  want to do that, either. Amy also says that if Sheldon wants to propose to her she “doesn’t need her hand-me-down ring.”  (Personal note: Ugh, this scene was really hard for me to watch.). Then I think it is  Meemaw who says Sheldon should leave her and Amy alone to talk.

Leonard and Penny are in 4B, talking about the situation.  Penny tells a story about how things with her grandma were less exciting than that last time she saw her.  Sheldon knocks and comes in, telling them the two women made him leave them to talk.  Then he asks which of them is going to go get his train for him from the apartment.

Amy and Meemaw are alone.  Amy says she knows Meemaw doesn't think she is right for Sheldon, bit that she is “his best shot” and that Meemaw doesn't have any idea how much she puts up with.  Meemaw counters that she knows what it is like putting up with a frustrating, egotistical, hard-headed man because that's what Pop-pop was like.  Amy says “Really?”  Meemaw confirms that there were days when she “wanted to fill his pockets with corn and toss him into the hog pen.”  Amy asks, if that is the case, why she is being so hard on her.  Meemaw says it is because “When you broke up with Sheldon you really hurt him, and I don't want to see that happen again.”

Leonard and Penny come back into 4A, apologizing for the interruption but saying that Sheldon has something he wants to say, to which he replies from the hallway “No I don't.”  However he immediately comes in and sits back down on the couch between Meemaw and Amy once again.  He tells Meemaw that he is sorry, but he has to defend his girlfriend.  Amy is obviously pleased and thanks him.  Sheldon says that he knows Pop-pop was a difficult man, but that he watched them and he knows that Meemaw made him a better man with her patience and love and caring.  He says that these past 5 years that's what he's “been doing with this little work in progress here,” putting his arm around Amy's shoulders as he says so.  Leonard and Penny are still by the door and Leonard comments that he never fails to disappoint.
Amy tells Meemaw “I think what he means is that we've both grown together, right?” looking to Sheldon to confirm.  When he hesitates Penny says “Oh just say yes!” so he does.
Meemaw says that if that is how he really feels, then she won't stand in their way.  Amy asks if that means that if Sheldon wants to give her that ring then they have her blessing to which she replies something unenthusiastic like “I guess so.”  Amy then smiles in her cute excited-but-trying-to-be-coy way, and rubs Sheldon's shoulder, trying to catch his eye.  He looks at her and realizes what she's doing, then exclaims “I just gave you my virginity, cool your jets!” Before smiling at Meemaw and back at Amy.

Raj and Howard are in the comic book store discussing Frozen.  A young woman at the table behind them overhears and joins in the conversation.  Later she is sitting in the chair when they come to sit on the couch and Raj strikes up a conversation, introducing himself and Howard.  Her name is Claire.  It is her first time at the comic book store; she is trying to do some research for a movie she is writing.  Howard says “You’re  a screenwriter?” To which she replies she's actually a (pronounce the slashes here, like in “girl / friend / boy / friend”) “screenwriter/bartender/person who is a month from living in her car.” Raj says he understands because he is a “scientist/party planner/small dog enthusiast/man who probably should have stopped at scientist.”  Claire is excited to hear he is a scientist and asks if she can pick his brain.  What she is writing is an animated sci-if movie for kids.  He agrees, so she gives him her number and leaves.
Howard asks Raj what he is doing since he has a girlfriend.  Raj says it is fine and he'd have no problem telling Emily, though he wouldn't tell her that Claire is attractive.
Later Raj is in Howardette’s kitchen while they make dinner.  Howard tells Bernie Raj was really flirting with this woman and she says that's ok, people flirt.  Howard asks if that means it's ok if he flirts but she interrupts to tell him “Not you, your ass is mine!”  Howard asks Raj how things are with Emily, to which he replies he thinks they're in a good place, but every time something like this happens he wonders if she's the right one for him.  He asks if Howard and Bernadette even had doubts about each other when they were dating.  At the same time she says yes, he says no.  Oops.
Later the 3 are eating dinner and Raj says he has finally made up his mind: he is going to “do the right thing” and call Claire and tell her that he is in a relationship.  Apparently, though, this isn't the first time “he has made up his mind” as they remind him he also told them that he had made up his mind: to break up with Emily, to marry Emily (“and fill her with babies…”LOL), to sleep with Claire as soon as she'll let him, to date both women pretending to be twins, and to ask them for a threesome and pass it off as a joke if they say no.  (Some of these lines were in different takes so not sure what will make the cut, but I thought they were all pretty funny so wanted to mention them.)
He calls Claire and tells her he has a girlfriend, to which she replies “Ok, good for you.”  He then asks her if they didn't have a connection.  She ask why he wants to know if he has a girlfriend, but he convinces her to at least reply and she agrees that they did.  He puts her on hold to tell Howardette excitedly what she said and asks them what his next move should be.  Bernie reminds him that he still has a girlfriend to which he replies “Oh yeah, good catch!”  He tries to hang up then, saying good luck with the movie, but she still wants to meet to get his help on science and tells him they're adults and they can meet without it meaning anything.  Raj, however, says that's not him, as ever since she said they had a connection he's been planning their wedding in his head.  She promises that if he proposes she'll say no.
After the call he tells Howardette that they'll meet just to talk science and Howard asks him when he'll tell Emily, leading Raj to turn on Howard and rat him out to Bernie for something silly he did earlier.
The tag is Raj and Claire on the couches at the comic book store where he is giving her science suggestions for her screenplay.  Then he imagines them in a living room with a little boy on his lap and Claire with a baby in her arms, and she asks him if he ever told Emily about them.

Thank you so much for doing this.  I was there and all I can say about the taping is read above.  Smashing job.

I also would have liked more reaction after shamy big night. But yes, at least we know they know and we had the reactions at herb garden episode, and when Penny broke the glass lol (even if it was before).

But I still want to know if it was a one time or if they had coitus after. I still wait for a morning with the two of them in pyjamas. :)

Maybe late to the party but here is my two cents. After reading everyone's posts I'm just not bothered by what is bothering most people.

1) The and you never will line about his spot. The writers have to set up Amy to be somewhat...resentful? Of Memaw from the start. It is like the flowers with Mary. Yes these are the two most important woman in your life.... When am I going to be on that list and get allowances made? I am sure also later in the game when Amy is welcomed in his spot that line will make it all tbe sweeter.

2) The "I'm is best shot" line. It is true! Memaw needs to hear that. If she wants her Moonpie to have grandkids then better start liking Amy. The man is 35 and just lost his virginity. Obviously no other woman stood a chance with him. Also I know we all love him, adore him, think we could put up with his quirks... In actuality if he wereva real person many of us would not last a day. Amy embraces his quirks, she needed a break to realize that she could handle them. That a man without them just is not the same. Also to the poster @cryptokitty who I am too lazy to find to quote. What the actual f**k? How has Penny done things for him Amy has not? Penny rolls her eyes at every turn. Is exasperated by his almost every action. Amy is his only shot!  Get used to it old woman. This makes the virginity line even funnier.

Would I have prefered Memaw to love Amy right off the bat and spend the evening baking cookies, looking at baby pics? Hell yes! But being from the south I know us mothers and grandmothers do not let go of our menfolk graciously. I am 100% sure I will be a heinous bitch to the women  my sons bring home. I will need an Amy to call me on my crap.

This is a really good point, and I thank you for sharing it. It is true, and for me as an Amy fan it makes me see the " ready to be your GF again" scene a little easier. Yeah she was sad for herself he didn't want to get back together, but also for him I think. She did said she wanted him to be happy, and he was gonna forget about relationships altogether. When he did try to find a GF, that didn't go well either!  He is happy in a relationship, that was clear in ear worm, or better yet he is happy in a relationship with her! I know some want Amy called out on shit, but at the end of the day, she deserves a lot of credit as well!  She truely IS it for him!

I agree that immediate HOLY SHIT! reactions are a bit late and frankly we already saw them in Herb Garden so I guess the writers didn't want to redo that. I'm also suspecting that after crafting their first time with so much care they don't want to cheapen it with an over abundance of jokes. However, maybe they will at some point establish a regular sex life for Shamy and that's when you can have a lot of fun with Sheldon going all TMI or whatever.

Anyway, with regards to the bold part - and in addition to what we got yesterday I can't shake the feeling, or maybe it's just wishful thinking, that Amy being fed up with people treating Sheldon like a child may actually play a role in shaking things up here. I would love for Amy to see a bit more of the every-day routine with Sheldon and Lenny, and maybe find out to her bewilderment about how much they cater to his every whim or at least more than is good for him. I mean, yes, she knows Sheldon's schedules and quirks and does a lot of things for him, too. But at least she's getting something in return as they are a in a loving relationship while his living arrangements with Lenny seem a lot more one-sided. I'd love for her to be the one to talk to Sheldon and/or Lenny and ask them What the hell is going on here? What are you doing?? What do you get out of this??? because no one else seem to wonder about that. There's occasional complaining but overall no one seems to be willing to change anything about the situation so maybe having someone like Amy throwing a wrench in there could trigger some development?

(Okay, that sounds too good to be true, probably won't happen, but a girl can dream, right?)

oo, interesting! In a 'you bastards have been enabling him all this time! No wonder I sometimes felt like I was being shoved into the role of mommy!' Sort of way? Man I would love that. I would love Amy to draw a line and say 'i love you but there is no way I am going to cater to your every whim. You are my boyfriend and at some point you will be my husband. You are NOT my child and there is no way in hell that I am going to be your mommy or your meemaw.' I am a fan of the fact that , to a large degree, when amy calls him on his shit, she does it as one adult to another. I shiver uncomfortably at any suggestion (e.g. The thanksgiving episode where she instructs him to apologise, or indecision where she uses a very mommy-esque fake-interested voice) that amy is Sheldon's put-upon mommy figure as well as his lover. Even the episode where he has a cold? I am uncomfortable with the idea that amy (who is actually less socialised even than Sheldon!) would show him how to be better. I much prefer arrogant, spirited Amy saying she is the best there is, slapping down meemaw and barking at her to not treat Sheldon like a baby. Quite right, doctor fowler.

although that said, I still cackle uncontrollably at 'the launch acceleration' where amy is explicitly accelerating sheldon's emotional attachment to her by linking herself to cherished memories of his childhood and Mary (via sausage-spaghetti). But! But! I am hoping that that is because what is so awesome about that episode is that amy is explicitly telling Sheldon what she is doing, and showing off her big brain and her neurobiological bag of tricks. Yep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

eta: Given the environment in the s9 thread right now, I wish to make it clear that when I say 'bastards' above in my post, I mean it with love. I think Lenny are almost always adorable with Sheldon.

Look, I'm very hopeful for the 200th episode, really...So far, we haven't seen a single dinner of the whole gang in 4A. There were always reasons for that (the break up, Amy out of town, now meemaw...) but dinners in 4A are iconic of the show, they are even in their opening theme!! And so far we haven't seen a group episode either. I hope the writers are planning for the 200th episode a hell of a group episode, maybe starting with one of their dinners, about living arrangements, changes in Howardette's house (I think their kitchen has been already renovated, it was in a photo Bill Prady shared on Twitter), who lives with whom. Thanks God Stuart has his own place now, my secret nightmare was he could end up with Sheldon in 4A for a while. If the writers decide it's too soon for Shamy to live together (and I totally get that, it may be too soon for the couple, plot wise, they have just come back together after a rough break-up, and it can be too soon for the show, they most likely are going to be on the air past Season 10, so they need to drag something out for a while), I hope he will be alone in 4A for some time, he's been treated like a "special" boy for all his life, maybe it's time somebody treats him like an "ordinary" (well, not really "ordinary" but you know what I mean) man! I'm dreaming your same dream April!
