With everyone in this episode lovin on our Sheldon, I'm hoping our characters can start #201 with a little less "fix Sheldon and/or point out another one of his stupid remarks with condescension" and just let a lying dog lie sometimes. Notice I say "a little less", not eliminate!

I didn't get   a "let's fix Sheldon"-vibe at all in this episode. Actually, to me it is one of the most accepting episode ever with respect to his character, a big festival of friendship and love for him, in a way. Amy asks him before organizing the party and listens to his childhood issues with respect to birthdays. The gang does everything in their power to give him a good time, they even don't yell "surprise" but gently say it, all are very sensitive for his little "meltdown" and say good things about who he is. Even Amy's toast about "the best gift was of him to be born" is one of the most loving and accepting things she has ever said to him (I'm not that hippy-dippy in general, but I can't get over it!). She  says "It's good that you are born." She doesn't remark that there are things to be fixed in him, he is born and that's the best thing ever happened to her.  One may argue maybe it should be better from now on to show "acceptance" to the other characters and to focus on them. I get that and I understand our fellow forum members concerns about the show. But to me, Shamy-wise and Sheldon-wise, that was a really good episode!

I actually quite like that apparently this has become just a normal part of their relationship like with everyone else. And for all the lack of big jokes they could have made about it I feel like it's integrated into pretty much every episode since then - just a bit more low key. In 9x12 we have Amy's flirty "wish you were here", in 9x13 Raj's joke about not wanting to have coitus with Sheldon, in 9x14 Sheldon's "I just gave you my virginity", in 9x16 Amy joining the sex talk with the girls, and now in 9x17 the flirty birthday suit comment. I don't remember anything from 9x15 but then again, maybe the "let's do it again" counts if it comes across as some sort of innuendo (I'll have to see that first, I guess). It all seems like an underlying reminder that yes, they do that now, and no, they didn't wait a whole year to do it again! Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we get an actual scene with them heading to the bedroom or them already in bed together anytime soon.

I was thinking the same. All around the episodes there are some jokes (not gross ones luckily) and reference to coitus. It's interesting, because the writers are not "forgetting" the subject as it never happened, and that was one of my fears about how they could have handled that matter. In a subtle way, like the way they touch,  they sit closer (in 9.16) or Sheldon's in his bed casually chatting with Amy on Skype, or with some funny lines they are saying that, of course it's not a "big" deal, but it has changed their relationship. I don't know for sure if we can infer they did again (even if I have to guess, I'll go with yes) but it is something that will come up again in the near future (no pun intended...)

Oh...In 9x15, for me all the sex-references made by Kripke do count as a reminder of Shamy coitus, so even if the "do it again" line doesn't play as "flirty", for me also that episode may be written under your paradigm.

I ran out of likes again.

The TR  sounds good, I´m glad that they are all acting cute towards Sheldon. Amy´s "The best gift I got was the moment you were born"-line really kills me with cuteness, I can´t wait to see how it plays out. There´s one line that makes me curious. I´m talking about Leonard´s comments that has been interrupted by Penny. If he wanted  to say, that he has seen Amy pantsless as well, there are some things that pop up in my mind immediately:

1. She has spent one night at Sheldon´s, so he could see her naked.

2. The fact that Penny interrupted Leonard, shows to me that Penny was there as well or at least Leonard told her.

3. The fact, that Penny interrupted Leonard, is a proof for me, that Amy didn´t notice that he´s seen her pantsless and that Penny doesn´t want that Amy knows that Leonard´s caught Amy in such a moment. (Maybe they both saw her pantsless in that moment and Penny feels uncomfortable about that so she interrupts Leonard before he can tell)

I know this is just pure speculation and we have to wait to see the facial expressions and the way how it plays out.

I don't think he was going to say that he had seen Amy pantless, I think he was going to say that Sheldon has seen him pantless as well.

I just wanted to add something off topic: I love Shamy and I´m glad that for every Shamy moment, but there are other interesting plots I´d like to see before the show ends one day:

-Howardette planning their life as parents ( including granny Raj)

-Penny getting finally a role offer for a really good script, which requires to get some further skills and that  she has to stay in another town or country to  attend to the tapings, so she has to decide if she wants to keep going her job as sales agent or if she wants to follow her dream to become an actress.

-Leonard and Sheldon finally get Nobel prize for their work

-Raj enjoying his life as a single with his doggie Cinnamon (where is she anyway?), that overwhelms his dog with love and Howardette with tons of gifts for the baby

-Lenny finally moving together and Sheldon finding out how to live on his own, before Amy moves in

Sheldon went to university on his own when he was what 12 and to Europe for a summer when he was 15, also on his own.  I think he does know how to live on his own, but for some reason his friends don't and he takes advantage of that.  Oh and he also went off on the train trip on his own.

Episode sounds so perfect!!! Loving all the sex chatter...these two aren't once a year. And Amy really did something to make him feel special and her toast!! She loves him for being him. And getting him Hawking.

So adorably sweet

I wish they would go into that more, the train trip was a fluke, it didn't go well.. But why not point out that it was a one time thing and he has been OK on his own before.

Yep, that's what I got from that scene as well. I take it as a nice throwback joke to the pilot in which both Sheldon and Leonard ended up pants-less.

Admittedly, I had to make sure for a moment that I'm thinking about the right kind of pants though cause as a non-English speaker I sometimes mix up meanings between British English and American English - and in British English "pants" means "underpants" which makes the whole conversation even more hilarious and weird. LOL

I know - and even without that I would have assumed they'd seen each other naked at least once after living together for such a long time. lol

Still, Amy and Leonard fighting over that is hilarious to me. I'm easily amused, I guess.

With Amy's comment, about wanting seeing him "in his born/birthday suit", can we assume it is the second clue which means they effectively "do that" now, not only at her birthday ? ;D

I like to think they end the party together in his bed. :) even if it is not really important.

EDIT : okay... As always, I'm late and I really must read BEFORE posting. :D

Ok so from all the spoilers we've got so far from @shamydawson and @mjc45 (thank you guys!!! You are amazing!!!)    for me it already sounds like an amazing episode :

1. 3 cutest Shamy moments

1) she says something like 'you gave me an amazing gift for my B'Day, but actually your greatest gift is you being born'? I THINK IT'S GONNA BE ONE OF MY FAV SHAMY SCENES EVER.

And Sheldon saying 'Awww Amy'.. I'm gonna die when i see that.

2) her adjusting his tie and her mentioning birthday suit even though he doesn't get it... I'm so happy for Amy she can OPENLY talk about this now WITH HIM! and not just keep to herself...

3) AMY ARRANGING FOR STEPHEN HAWKING TO WISH SHELDON HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON SKYPE, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!

2. I know not everyone loves Shenny friendship, but i do, and all their moments sounded amazingly touching & sweet to me. And their hug.

3. Just in general the episode being about Sheldon, and how everyone is there for him...

4. Shelnard moment......... Leonard : 'You're like a brother to me'

5. Leslie saying Happy Birthday Sheldon, and refusing to call him dumass (sweet) but then Sheldon says 'you know i don't like change so just say it (double sweet!!) and then Leslie saying 'Happy Birthday dumbass' - I'm gonna wish for Leslie to come back now lol

6. Penny apparently in a hot dress? I missed her hot outfits .

So excuse  me for too many rainbows and unicorns, but i'm really happy.

Was there a taping report on here or Twitter updates I didn't catch? To have spoilers I need....[emoji6]

I like the sound of this episode. Tone seems to be light and even though some are moaning about a 'Sheldon episode', I actually think it sounds like a great way to get the gang together and working towards something as a team. Not sure all the guest stars were really needed (especially Leslie and Bev) but will reserve judgement until I see it for myself. Might have just been a nice opportunity for the BBT team to see some old faces (which I certainly don't begrudge them after giving us 9 yrs of entertainment!)

They don't because that doesn't fit in with the man-child that needs surrogate parents.

Ok..I tried to take what I had from chat and a few other private chat folks and put it into some sort of summary.   You can find the full summary here and I will gladly link to whoever went to the actual taping and summarizes or does a taping report and does not mind me linking to it.

Also you might wanna check the posts in the DT by mjc45 and Trinabeana, they went to the taping

ShamyDawson said a lot in chat (most of the spoilers i mentioned in my post were from her ), but i don't think she posted a full TR

I agree; I think many of us looked at this episode with higher expectations that it could be a turning point in the show, at least, I did. It was a fair guess, since Episode 100 and Episode 150 satisfied that rule. I really hoped that it could be the end of an era, with Leonard and Penny moving out.  This time, instead, the writers have decided to do something completely different. They have opted for a celebratory episode, with one of the guest stars of their dreams (Adam West on TBBT is epic!) and some "friends" that are still members of TBBT family (CB and SG). I also feel their presence is quite symbolic. For example,  it's not even clear why Leslie would even join Sheldon's birthday party and how and when they became in such good terms  or why Beverly, who doesn't believe  in celebrating birthdays, would  travel across the Country for that. But maybe the intention was to have a fun episode with as many friends as they can, and a birthday party is a nice way to do that. When the information begun to arrive in the chatroom I must admit I was quite expecting a big scoop and for a second I felt underwhelmed. But the episode sounds nice, funny and sweet, it celebrates the friendship among our beloved  characters and I'm sure among the cast and crew themselves. We have had enough turning points this season, with Lenny's wedding, Shamy break up and coitus, Howardette's baby. I still hope for the living arrangement to be addressed soon, but this episode sounds full of nice things too.

Sheldon's mother went with him when he was visiting professor at the German university when he was 15. He was left alone only while she went home to help his father deal with damage to the house. When very underage students go to university it's usual for an adult to go with them. When he was 11 I can't believe he would have gone alone. Who would have accompanied him then we don't know : his siblings were too young for it to have been his mother. However, when he was old enough and doing more degrees, including two PhDs, he must have spent some time fending for himself.

Sheldon's problem with living alone this time was that he was having some sort of breakdown and wanted to apply a restore point to his life. He'd not lived alone for a long time and we must remember he thought he'd have a wife before long. That's quite a big loss.

It wasn't a group episode. The group barely talked with each other. It was a Sheldon centric episode, like 9x13. No actually it was a Shenny centric episode.

I get it if they want to focus on Sheldon, Leonard and Penny in the 200th. But they didn't even focus on Leonard. Leonard thought of the idea of Adam West. However Sheldon was not impressed. He was like "Oh, but why is Adam West at my birthday party?". The highlight of the episode was really when Sheldon freaked out and Penny went to comfort him. They sat side by side, with matching looks, Sheldon wearing a suit, Penny wearing a nice, sexy dress.

And the end, Penny just went straight up and gave Sheldon a hug, with Amy standing right next to him holding a laptop. But everybody was fine.

The episode gave me the feeling that Lenny and Sheldon are a family and Amy's just an outsider, which, she really is. They feel so protective of Sheldon that Leonard fights with Amy when she wants to comfort her boyfriend. Because you know, she's not qualified enough. But hey, people like Shenny "friendship" and think this is a "group" episode. So party on, ignore me. Happy 200th.

Why wouldn't everyone be fine with two friends hugging?? :icon_neutral:

I never said that he hadn´t lived on his own before he met Leonard, I just wanted to say, that I would like to live him on his own after Leonard has moved out and before he Amy moves in, because I think it would be interesting, how Sheldon would handle the simple things of life on his own. Because I don´t want Amy to be a replacement for Leonard, who takes him to the doctor´s and to the Lego store and who cleans up behind him. I want him to become an independent man who is able to buy his daily needs, to drive to the Lego store alone in his own car (I still didn´t give up my dream, that he will drive one day, Amy taught him how to do it).

It would be hilarious, if Sheldon drove slowly down the street in his car and an officer would stop him, because he´s too slow.

The officer asks him, why he´s driving so slow and he would simply answer: "My engine light is blinking, so I´m driving it slowly to the next car workshop to check it before the engine breaks down."

Right in this moment Penny´s head appears from the back seat, saying: "Officer, I told him that´s it not necessary to drive that slow...."

"You better be quiet, it´s all your fault, I´m never going to lend you my car again! If you were a superhero, your name would be Blinky Girl, the heroine who makes engine lights blink!

But back to topic, I want him to become a man, so maybe his family finally accepts that he´s a grown man and treats him like one.

We are basing our discussions on taping reports and information in the chatroom we got from fellow forum members (mostly Shamy fans) who were there. Sorry you didn't like the episode, I hope that at least the BTS and the celebrations over there for the 200th episode were good enough and you had a good time. Thanks for your POV! I'm always happy to get several opinions on the episodes!

No offence, but people have the right to like different things, don't you think ?: / I get it you hate Shenny friendship for your own reasons, but some of us also love it for our reasons, it's not like we all have to agree on just one opinion!

Also we all have different life experiences, regarding relationships, friendships and such.
I know some couples where a girl would freak out if her bf has any close girl friends, she'd think it's unnatural and weird and whatnot... And i know many couples where a guy has close friends who are girls, and his girlfriend is okay with it... And vice versa.

Actually 2 of my close friends have a best friend of the opposite gender, and their significant others (they're both married ) don't find it weird at all... Then again my dad's wife wants to shoot any woman who even speaks to him lol.

(All that said, I don't think Shenny are even best friends, obviously Shelnard are )

I mean my point is I respect your views, and the dislike you have for Shenny scenes for whatever reason, but I just don't get why you think we all should hate them , we are all different after all! : )
