I've kinda seen it this way - Sheldon's heart clearly melted in the last few years, and his robotic self is pretty far now, but he still tells himself (and others) it's there, so he actually enjoyed the hug and it was just so clear, but he was in his usual denial mode so he's like 'now they're just extremely irritating'. I mean in my opinion he himself doesn't realize how much of a softie he's become haha.

Exactly! If you look at the relationship years ago between Winkle and Sheldon, there is no way he would've normally placated her and told her to go ahead and call him a dumbass, even though he dislikes change. Sheldon probably knew Winkle was dying to say it and decided what the heck and laughed along with everyone else too. He had a sense of humor about it and was able to laugh at himself too! Whether that means he can look back at those days and see that maybe he earned the "dumbass" label by Winkle, or that he doesn't take himself as seriously as he once did, who knows?

Sheldon is, though, continuing his growth journey and we see it in the little things.

Quote system sucks. Accidently click quote and you can't get rid of it until you post it.

Anyways.

I wouldn't mind the series ending on top, after 11 seasons. If it does and Sheldon and Amy do a spinoff of them together, how many of you would watch? I think I'd watch the first season but depends on the writers.

Just doing a head-pop to agree with all who loved Amy's toast. It was sweet and heartfelt - and, thank fuck, utterly divorced from any eye-roll-inducing sexual innuendo (Show, seriously, the 'someone makes a sex joke, Sheldon doesn't get it' dynamic has long outstayed its welcome) and not undercut by any snark or dismissal. How long I've been waiting for Amy to have the chance to say something romantic and appreciative like that to Sheldon! And Sheldon's surprise at hearing those words broke my heart a little. It must be the very first time anyone's ever said those words to him, and they come from the love of his life.

And don't tar and feather me, chaps, but I legit went 'Awwwwww' at Sheldon and Penny's hug- or rather Sheldon's little smile as he says 'Now I just find [hugs] extremely irritating'. He knows his big sister is touchy-feely. He's grown begrudgingly accustomed to it. He would even miss it if the hugs and physical affection went away, but he just has to bitch. But the little smile and the semi-snuggle as he kvetches give him away. Sheldon, you big softie, you.

Otherwise, I thought the episode was inoffensive but also inessential. It felt very much like an amiable circle-jerk, with the team gathering around to say 'You guys! 200 episodes in the Golden Age of On-Demand Television! Yay us!' It felt massively self (and Sheldon!) congratulatory, which I admit I found a bit irritating. But- eh, fine. The episode chuntered along in a very narrow comfort zone and did it without atrocity. Fine.

Guys....most likely Leonard was just saying that Sheldon has also seen him without pants, for example during the polar expedition; in Raj's words "At least we all have that night the heat went down..."

Yeah, no that's not what he meant.  Here's the lines....

L - ok, I better go in there and talk to him

A - well don't you think I'm the one who should go in

L - no offense but I've known the guy a really long time

A - well I, you know, seen him without pants on

L - again, no offense but so have I

A - well he's seen me without pants on

L - again, no offense but....

P - ok this is ridiculous

Amy states that she's seen Sheldon without pants.  So has Leonard.  Then Amy says he (Sheldon) has seen her without pants on.  And Leonard apparently has also.

Uhm... the context is about them trying to one-up the other about how close they are to Sheldon. The logical continuation of that back and forth in that sense would have been Leonard pointing out how Sheldon saw him without pants, too.

But if we want to imagine a scenario like Amy sleeping over in 4A and the next morning she accidentally ran into Leonard when sneaking to the bathroom while she was only wearing one of Sheldon's t-shirts, be my guest. lol

No, just Google Images. Wait, Google Images is a database, so it is a yes!

And I think it is normal for anyone to have close friendships aside from their significant others... And to share some things with friends that you wouldn't share with your SO!
Amy's shared quite a lot with Penny/Bernadette that she hasn't shared with Sheldon... Like, WAY more than what Sheldon has shared with Penny but not Amy. Yet no one's threatened by PAmy (and despite many many of Amy's bi comments towards Penny))), yet when it's a Shenny moment all hell breaks loose!

Interesting, right? And Penny's had far more of an influence (along with Bernie) on Amy's behaviour than Sheldon has had, honestly (which- unsurprising, perhaps, since Amy first came on the scene as a female Sheldon). Amy's sexuality expressed itself in overt ways first and with more vigour with Penny compared to Sheldon. Amy kissed Penny before she kissed Sheldon, even. But, yep, sure, it's Sheldon's relationship with Penny that's a threat to the Shamy.

And no word, either, about Leonard jealously tussling with Amy over who has the right to deal with Sheldon hiding out in the loo? No word about Amy's tie-fixing being a nice little mirror to Leonard fussing over Sheldon's bow-tie in Prom? Sure, sure, it's only the different-sex friendship that could possibly be a threat, yeah? (Woggles eyebrows)

Just to be clear: I don't think that any of these things would or should ever happen. Just pointing out something that rather amuses me.

Yes I understand that and he DID.  But he ALSO implies seeing Amy without pants before Penny interrupts him.

A - I've seen him without pants on.

L - So have I.

A - Well, he's seen ME without pants on.

L - So have.....

Now HERE is where he's about to say "SO HAVE I (seeing HER....AMY) without pants also before Penny interrupts them to go to Sheldon herself.  Watch that scene again!

EDIT:. OMG!!  I get it!!  It's Shrodingers Coitus all over again!  Those crafty sneaker writers!!  Was Leonard about to say (before Penny interrupts them).

"I've seen you without pants on also."

Or

"He's seen me without pants on also."

Yep. The obvious punchline to me was that save for kissing and coitus itself Leonard could probably say "been there, done that, got the t-shirt" to anything Amy could have brought up. lol

But I've seen plenty of people being confused so... uhm... yeah.

Nope.  Many people have been confused on that line since Thursday.  I don't get it either.

Penny: Ok, I take it... (...)
So Leonard saw Sheldon without pants on (probably that time at the North Pole) and Amy as well.

To me, at the end of the day it was not the words, but how significant that banter between Leonard and Amy was.  Leonard, ready to do what he has always done as part of Sheldon's past and Amy trying to stake her claim on their future.

In my perfect world, Penny would have shut the argument down and sent Amy in to see to Sheldon.  But the writer's had another story to tell that night.

I completely agree!!
It wasn't the hug itself what bothered me, Sheldon can hug whomever he wants, he's free to do it. But  I couldn't imagine how i would feel if my boyfriend's best friend (who is my friend as well) took away from me the opportunity to comfort him, Penny went to talk to sheldon over amy's desire (and right) to do it, she didn't care about it, she didn't ask if Amy was "ok" with that, Penny just decided that she was the right (perfect) person and did it; Amy is Sheldon's girlfriend she was there in front of penny worried about her boyfriend, then where is Amy's place in sheldon's life, in his hard times?,  what would it happen if Sheldon decides to stay in the bathroom with penny by his side?? amy had stayed outside with all the party, guests, food, cake, awaiting for his boyfriend and his female best friend while they have a heart to heart conversation in the bathroom? Penny and Leonard have known sheldon for a long time (as leonard said) but that seems to me that they think amy is not good enough for sheldon not even to comfort him or help him to face his painful experiences from childhood.. c'mon!! Amy deserves the chance to try it, to prove how much sympathetic, understandable and helpful can be with the person she loves, she actually had proved it so many times...moments like this are the reason why sheldon is so attached to leonard and penny and so much that he can't imagine his life out of that apartment with other people around him... and for what i see this is not gonna change.. JMO..

I wish I could like this more than once, you just nailed it! That's what I always hate so much about the writers, ugh! I just have to keep on wishing...

It seems Amy is only in his hards times. I like Penny and Sheldon like friends. But I still think Amy deserves something more, not only for this episode because I think it was a cute Shenny moment, but I dont know... Amy sometimes seems a mother. And she is a girlfriend. For me, the writers have to do something about this, its not Sheldon's fault.

I feel Im wanting so much.

Excellent point. I hadn't seen that. We know Sheldon has helped Amy to have a bath before now so seeing her without pants ( even if they meant knickers and not trousers )  isn't anything new, quite aside from the events of Star Wars Night which Leonard knows about now.

In my perfect world, Penny would have shut the argument down and sent Amy in to see to Sheldon.  But the writers had another story to tell that night.

That would have been nice and appropriate in its way but the conversation would have been totally different. What do you think Amy would have said ?

I thought about that as well. It was an emotional scene and I was moved but it was a little insensitive towards Amy  to suggest to spend the night in the bathroom together.
