Thank you so much to shamydawson and everyone else for the spoilers! I knew someone would deliver . Sounds like a great episode for Shamy...And the innuendos, they keep piling up!

I love it that Sheldon entrusted Amy with this. And he made her sign a non-disclosure contract which means he really doesn't want anyone else to know about his hoarding problem and the storage thing.

I too think it's very telling that he's still very sensitive about what she thinks of him (I think it's cute). It's been shown repeatedly that he only cares about what she thinks of him and her opinions over well, everything, are the only ones he takes into account. The only bad thing is that we'll have to wait too long for this episode .

(Also, I wish I had the financial ability to just...buy someone a laptop at a moment's notice...just because :D)

lol Idk if the screenshot are too low quality or my eyes betray me but that still looks like the same laptop to me??? I mean yes, the light on the alien head logo is different but the early models of that series actually have that as a customizable feature so... uhm yeah. I mean, of course it would make sense that he's upgrading regularly but at the same time I kinda like the thought that this one has made it from mid-S3 til now against all odds, hence the funeral mood when it died.

You make a good point a top range laptop could well last 5 years, we upgrade every year or so which is why I was thinking he would do the same (as he's a gadget guy)

Well, he's also a guy who doesn't like change and probably clings to his gadgets until they fall apart. A good quality laptop when treated with care should be able to last that long.

(I wish I had that money to upgrade regularly!)

Given that he has a mini funeral for the laptop I think it's safe to say he was attached to it!

We were talking about Amy saying something meaningful to Sheldon, after all the things Sheldon has said to her in the last few episodes. The toast at his party and the last part of this episode for me made up for all the stuff Sheldon has done\said. It appears that also Sheldon appreciate her more, he thanks her for the new laptop (after bitching a bit about it...) and he also recognizes that the storage was a bonding moment for them. I guess we will go on and on with this teasing stuff (up to now in every episode they are reminding us that they had sex, but you know...don't have high expectations about it now) but, as I said in the chat, at least we know that there is a dead-line for all those jokes: Amy's next birthday!. LOL!!

Yes it seems like a cute episode for them, at least, let's see how it play out on screen and their facial expressions, right. LOL about the dead-line for the jokes.

I believe this is the first episode where Sheldon's only interaction is with Amy.  Perhaps they setting things up to split Shamy and Lenny up and have them live separately in the two apartments?

Okay, I've been looking up the design details of the other models of the same series and Sheldon definitely has a laptop from the first batch of M17x- the follow up M17x R2-R4 look different. Most noticeable, Sheldon's laptop has this black shape at the bottom under the alien head. That design element isn't to be found in the newer models. So I think it's save to assume it's indeed supposed to be the same laptop!

...So the writers had a Season Six/Seven script with a non-dickish Sheldon and relatively un-gagging-for-it Amy lying around, and decided that its time had come?

Sheldon is weird: Check.

Amy is patient and understanding and maybe slightly worryingly maternal: Check.

Sheldon opens up and the show pretends that this is a big deal, although it has been going to the well of Sheldon's Past Trauma so well it has frequent flyer miles: Check.

Sheldon says something suggestive: Check.

Amy responds sort of hopefully, maybe: Check.

Show says PSYCH!: Check.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I am sure the actors will be very charming and this all sounds very cute and fluffy, but wow, show. That comfort zone has been dropping pointed hints about how maybe you should move out (not unlike another two characters....).

Live a little, show! Let Amy be the one with the weird behaviour! Let Sheldon be the one to help her! And for the love of God, cut it out with the 'Sheldon Cooper Does Not Do Innuendo' humour. We get that he doesn't do innuendo. Stop having other people (especially Amy) make innuendo around him and look at him hopefully. Stop behaving as though you are Aristophanes because you have the bait and switch of Sheldon saying a possibly risqué thing which turns out to be-oooooooo-not so risqué after all. We have all of us watched this show before. Even if we haven't, we have all of us consumed fiction in some form. Having Sheldon telegraph something 'naughty' in such a manner can only be followed by a smash cut to something that is not naughty at all. If humour derives from the unexpected, this is the equivalent of getting us to cackle at 12:01 following 12:00. Retire the joke. It was already stale by the time you got your hands on it.

It is so sweet that the first thing he does with his new laptop is to skype with Amy so he has new memories he can with it. Since Amy came into his life, I´m sure he even cares his laptops (I´m using the plural, because I don´t know how many he had since he knows Amy) more, because there are so many memories attached to them: his first orgasm, his first (and hopefully last) breakup, and million other skype sessions he had with her on his laptop.

Thinking of it now, makes me nostalgic.

This time it seems that Amy is understanding since she is a bit of a hoarder herself (I learnt a new English word today, who says that TBBT is a waist of time, lol!) She tells him she has kept a tissues from her first brain dissection; but I get what you're saying...just i don't think they are going to change dynamics, since it works. Journalists and fans ask when and if they'll do it again, viewers love this kind of interaction between them and apparently they also like oblivious Sheldon. if I remember correctly in the opening scene of the VD episode they tried two jokes about Howard's hot tub, in the first one Sheldon understood the innuendo, in the other one he didn't. I guess they kept the one which made more people laugh and, sadly, it was the latter.  For hard core fans it's getting old and we really want to get rid of it, but I guess for general fans things are a bit different (otherwise I'm pretty sure they would have changed it). As long as it doesn't come across as bitter as it appeared in Season 6/7...

He didn't sell it to the drycleaner. It didn't get stolen on the train trip. Because evidently he still has the same laptop - as seen a few episodes earlier this season. Why do I think it's the same? Because it's an old model from 2009/2010 with a distinctive design that they don't sell anymore.

I always wondered why he had an iMac and now I'm thinking that it was his travel laptop and that is what got stolen?

The replacement for the burgled one is grey. It's on E4 as we speak. The one he's been using lately is red. That is all I know about makes and models.

I also.don't really have a problem with Sheldon not getting innuendo. My issue is that others (like Amy) are STILL put in the demeaning position of making innuendo and batting their lashes expectantly at him, only to be disappointed. It would be one thing if Amy had no expectation that Sheldon would understand, but enjoys making the innuendo and cackling to herself while Sheldon gapes. This? makes Amy look like an addled amnesiac, honestly. But I agree with you that the writers are unlikely to rock this particular (leaking, unfunny) boat.

ETA, because I didn't make it clear: The remark about Amy's innuendo was meant for Amy's 'birthday suit' remark in the 200th, rather than this episode.

No wait, this time she didn't make any innuendo.  Yes, she misunderstood Sheldon's looks, but according to the taping report, half of the audience did it too (of course, those writers...) The reason I'm fine with this episode much more than with the part in Penny's apartment in the 200th episode is just that, TBH.  Amy was there expecting nothing and drinking her tea when Sheldon said that he has few hours before his bedtime with killer looks. Not very funny either, I agree, but at least she was not demanding anything. Of course, that's what I say now, before watching the actual episode...
