Maybe because it's called being true to characters? I like characters as they are, and I like that there are two very different couples to choose from, one for people who prefer more dramatic, way with more twists and turns, and second for those who prefer more stable even while for development slower way. Like Friends had Ross and Rachel and Chandler and Monica, two very different, but very interesting lead couples.

JBTW I think you're planning a little further in the future, for them to get together they would need to be broken up, last time I saw them, they were not.

i.think.you.two are completly missing chrismos point. From.a Lenny pov. No one said Shamy need to be like Lenny. But like it or not they are the original and centre couple, and sorry the bencmark, even if writers forgot that. For the record tho I disagree ross and rachel comparisons, since s5 they been more ricky and lucy.

Does anyone know how their schedule works on taping weeks? Do they go through the weekend with rehearsals and blocking and other related things?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Generally Hokie, it's:

Wednesday:  Table read, Familiarize themselves with individual props or costume fittings for items that aren't normally used

Thursday: Blocking (where to stand, how to move), camera angles, lighting.

Friday: work scenes,  Changes to blocking, Lighting, camera. Run the entire show.

Saturday:  OFF

Sunday:    OFF  (However, during the weekend, some crew will sometimes work , actors will probably run lines at home)

Monday:  Producer/ CBS executive Run through.   Afternoon/Evening; Shoot recorded scenes

Tuesday: Run through show.   Evening: Run show before an audience.

There may be individual things that TBBT does differently, but the above is how most multi-camera comedies run it.   Overall, this should cover it with minor changes.   From comments I've seen, they will normally, except for Tuesday and sometimes Monday, spend 4-6 hours a day there.  This is due to their efficiency when running through all this.

I don't think either couple subscribe to the sitcom norm couples. They are there own thing years from now shows will say was it more of a Lenny relationship or a Shamy? Btw in what world are they Ricky and Lucy? Ricky was a emotionally and sometimes physically abusive dominator and Lucy was a scheming manipulator? I love the show but in the 50's that stuff was okay to show on TV. No one would have a relationship like that nowadays. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Oh Jeez.

So first. Fine I get it now. I guess I was finding some deeper meaning in Chrismos post, which I shouldn't. I guess I should have know better. Lesson learned.

Secondly. I have absolutely no idea why you have to claim here they are original and centre couple, with "like it or not" it sounds to me like I tried to decrease them or something. Which I did not!

Lastly. I did not compared anyone to Ross annd Rachel ! I gave an example of the show where two interesting, but very different couples worked well beside. I can give you example from HIMYM or whatever show, but it obviously doesn't mean I comparing characters to each other - just the idea that there's good to have more different couples in one show. Whoever it is.

Some Lenny's think this since it was hinted at during the first episode.
But during the first episode both Sheldon and Leonard were dating their right (or left) hand, so I guess those are really the center couples of the show.

Lmao!! But its so true. Shelnard is the true original/central couple of the show. The one constant since day 1.

Actually I meant leonard and his hand and Sheldon with his, since they went to the sperm bank ;)

if they were true to their characters Sheldon wouldn't be with Amy. Sheldon is the one that said he didn't understand the idea of needing someone to share his life (Howdette wedding?) with. There's changes all the characters that they've made many not true to their characters. I'm not sure how Friends fits in because all four of those characters were there at the beginning. in regards to Shamy Amy wanted a " break". I think there are more than one interpretation to that and what it might lead to.

I think it would be an insult to all Lenny fans if they secretly got married in Vegas. It should be a big wedding with everyone there. All the Lenny fans complaining about them being diminished and now they want a small Vegas wedding ( Penny's done it once before) and them not telling everyone about it. It seems to me IMO that The Leonard kiss will be resolved but they decide not to get married. they go back home and returned to thing as they were before. They plan a legit wedding that happens in episode 200. In regards to Shamy they should stay on a" break" and they resolve their issues  and get back together at Lenny's wedding.

I wouldn't feel insulted or cheated by a private wedding between Leonard and Penny. Their best and most romantic moments have been when they are alone together:kissing: Even though the show is a comedy, I'd like them to have a few serious, touching moments to make their promises to each other without anyone else getting into the act or stealing the show for the sake of a joke. They could still have a reception for family and friends to share in their happiness and make jokes about them and their stormy courtship after they have made their vows privately.

We can agree to disagree and we agree that we love them as a couple.

I think skull may have meant boy/ girl couple not same sex couple. In regard to the guys using their right or left hand since Shamy hasn't had coitus Sheldon must still be doing that.

Yes Lenny might be the "original" couple of the show but that doesn't in any way make them a benchmark for all the other couples.

It also therefore does not make them superior to any other couple on the show, like it or not.

Please don't put down other ships to feel better about your own.

Yep, agree with you on that first point. However:

It doesn't make them inferior either.

Although to hear some tell it, it's ok to not give Lenny screen time, because, you know, Shamy deserves it more.

It certainly doesn't make them inferior. I never said that at all. I like to think that all the couples are equally important, whether others agree with me or not. I personally ship Shamy the most, but that doesn't mean I think they're superior to any other pairing and should take up all the screen time on the show. No way.

It's not ok to give one couple screen time at the expense of another. Whether it's Lenny, Shamy or heck, even Rajily, I would ideally like to see all the couples receive a much more balanced treatment from the writers, which unfortunately we do not get.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that no couple is inferior or superior to another, and this is something that needs to be reinforced by the writers through a more equal distribution of screen time.

I think there is a certain mentality with some that since Lenny had more screen time in season 1-3 that Shamy ( the other two couples really don't count) deserves more time. As earlier posts from this season and last no one IMO can disagree that Shamy had more screen time than Lenny( I believe tensor showed that Shenny had more screen time too) in season 8. Many on here have complained that they wish Lenny fans would just shut up about that.  Since you just suggested more of an equal distribution then I would think more Lenny than  Shamy this season you would be okay to make up for last.

It’s a very funny episode. It doesn’t tie everything up in a neat package; our show rarely does that. It’s a lot of group scenes, and some really good one-on-one scenes as well. Kevin Sussman (“Stuart”) is back with some lines that are making me crack up in rehearsal already. It’s a great season opener.

Yep, that would be fine by me if they decide to do that with Season 9. Lenny were essentially neglected for much of Season 8 so I would definitely like to see a lot more of them in Season 9.

The key word though is "equal". I don't think one couple needs to dominate at the expense of others (whether Lenny or Shamy). There doesn't necessarily need to be "more" this or "more" that, what I'm saying is that I think screen time for Lenny and Shamy should be roughly the same. Season 8 is pretty much the example of "what not to do" when it comes to this kind of thing.

Funny is good!!!

Mayims ideas about certain episodes are not the same as ours once we have seen it (in some cases)

at this point I am not sure people are that interested about Stuart being funny. If anything her liking the episode is more of a bad sign.

I have read Mayim saying she does not watch the show (doesn't like to see/hear herself)...which is fine. I don't think she is as invested in things as some may like. Which again is fine. (Also just MHO) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't understand that. Why an actor/actress wouldn't like to see or hear himself/herself on screen? Shame?

Many, Many Actors and Actresses do not watch their show and if they do it not very often.

I remember once Joyce Dewitt several years ago in a Interview saying how  when she was once in New York in the late 1990s and one day she had the TV on n her Hotel Room on and Three's Company came on. She said it had been may years since she had watch it and started singing the theme song.

It doesn't have to do anything with shame.

Yes, I have heard that for many actors it helps the creative process of acting if they trust the director to direct, and they play their role. Watching themselves later could make an actor conflicted about how they look rather than the openness they need for their role.
