My dislike of Sheldon not withstanding (and I'm truly sorry about that.  I am and always have been-always will be a staunch Leonard man...), I think the developments taped last night represent him furthering his change for her.  I'm of the opinion that he would have rather not engaged in that certain activity, but values his relationship with Amy beyond his comfort level.  The break revealed to him that this woman is not going to sit and bask in his light.  He will be needing to travel part way.

This sets up a wedding perhaps for the 200th episode (alas, I don't see that milestone being a Leonard/Penny moment).  We will have to see.  Congratulations to the reunited couple!

Wow, haven't been here in a while.

I am happy with the current Shamy development though I am still on a limb about this show and OMG this forum, so I am still not sure about returning full time... and I have a lot of comments to catch up to for my real comeback, something that I don't have time to do right now...

I am just dropping by because this is something big and I want to join my fellow shippers despite my doubts.

First of all, Thank you for a wonderful report, kazie, and to the others for the previous reports!

Now my thoughts.

1. I am glad to see Professor Proton back. Bob Newhart's subtle snark and calm demeanor is hillarious.

2. Nice to see Sheldon putting Amy before the Star Wars... though I hope that they will never completely get rid of his nerd/geek side.

3. Really looking forward to seeing the others' reaction to the... uhm, "news"...

4. I'm surprised that their first time wasn't shower sex.

5. Hopefully, we will get to see a scene (in feature episodes) showing Sheldon and Amy going over the "coitus rules". Relationship agreement, you know.

6. Good to see girls helping out Sheldon and Amy. Good friends.

7. Good to see boys going to s Star Wars premiere. Hopefully we will get a funny nerd subplot.

I will probably come back once the full taping report has been posted on the site, only my schedule is tight right now.

And now, on to some other things.

Ah, (some of) Lenny shippers. Though you have every right to be dissatisfied, the amount of cherry picking on the last few pages alone is really a new level of low. I also find it interesting that, from what I've been able to read since catching up to the forum (though I might have missed something, it is possible), when Shamy was broken up, most of Lenny shippers acted satisfied and there were just a few comments about a lack of Lenny here and there (though there really was a lack of Lenny), now that Shamy is back together here comes the bashing. Some of the arguments, no offense, are downright transparent. One day it's pathetic that they still haven't had sex and now that they will Shamy has jumped the shark LOL.

Putting down one's ship is not going to change anything and if it makes you feel better (I am not saying that is necessarily the reason) you should probably take a long hard look at yourself. Especially given the fact that many Shamy shippers sympathize with you Lenny wise and show wise and have supported you before. How many times have you returned the favor? Not a taunt or an insult, I'm genuinely curious, given your attitude.

I don't want to imagine your reaction if roles were reversed.

And before you start throwing around words "abusive", "jerk" etc. it would probably be good idea to have a honest re evaluation of your own ship or bring up at least some examples to support your claim. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't appreciate if you were to call me Lenny basher, Sheldon defender, write ten paragraphs of HAHAHA for reasons only you know, or accuse me of lack of sympathy in a response because I've (gasp!) dared to challenge your posts (at least if you were to do so without challenging any points that I've made). But in the same time I wouldn't (well, "will not" may be a better saying LOL) care much because I know, just as you yourself probably will, that those things are just lame attempts to mask the lack of arguments. IMO.

Until the next time...

So a colleague at work has been away, and has only watched the first episode of this season so far. We were talking about the show, and I told her she needs to catch up because episode 11 is going to be HUGE. She then starts peppering me with questions, which went like this...

Her: Did Penny and Leonard get divorced?!
Me: (glaring) No! Why would I be excited about that? That would be the worst ever!

Her: Are Howard and Bernadette pregnant?
Me: Nope...

Her: umm... Something about Raj?
Me: Nope...

Her: Did Shamy get back together?
Me: Nope... that was episode 10

Her: (now very intrigued) Did Sheldon propose?
Me: Nope, but that's probably coming

Her: Well what then? Did they have coitus? (she said this in a joking manner while laughing)
Me: Grinning and nodding like crazy
Her: Spit her juice out across the room and was literally speechless for a good few minutes

I think leonard and penny fans should be happy if leonard and penny just make an appearance in that episode ....lol...

Good lord. Well done, show, for finally biting the bullet on Sheldon's Precious Flower. It seems like only yesterday that NoGav and I were snarking about whether the showrunners thought of the event as Cherrygeddon.

I have chronicled my thoughts on the event in the Shamy thread, but honestly, even more than the thing itself, I am more thrilled* that the writers screwed (hur) their courage to the sticking post and crossed the Great Virginity Rubicon. Bravo, writers! Look, Sheldon had sex, and the heavens didn't fall! Sheldon had sex, and the universe of the show didn't implode on itself! You can tell other stories with the character now that you have gotten past your blue funk about his cherry! Oh frabjous day, calloo callay!

*Obviously, I'm not MORE thrilled. That is a lie. You know it's a lie. I know you know it's a lie. Let's all move past this.

I guess the sum of human happiness has been momentarily increased, and that's not a bad thing. It's nice to get what one has been hoping for

Ok...I'm posting this for a friend who was there last night.  Please note, I wasn't there directly but I do understand the importance to the community of providing information so please be appreciative of that.  This includes everything.  Any questions I will do my best to field.  Enjoy!

  • It opens with the scrolling script on the starry background, just like Star Wars, with something like "A while ago in Apartment 4A..." And talks about how the new Star Wars movie was due to come out and Sheldon made it known that there would be hell to pay if they didn't score tickets. Then it goes to the guys in the apartment. Leonard comes out of the bedroom to announce that the tickets already went up. Howard is like "They're not supposed to be up yet!" But they are. So Sheldon rushes to his laptop and the guys are trying on their phones. None of them can get through with the server. So Sheldon falls to his knees and starts praying to god. He tells him how he knows he's never believed in him, but if he could just get them tickets.... Howard annouces that he's in, and Sheldon is like "I'll keep on not believing in you!" or something to that affect.

Next scene is Sheldon sitting at the island with Lenny and they're talking about going to the movie on Thursday. They tell him how they're glad he and Amy are back together and ask what he's doing for her birthday. It happens to be the same night as the Star Wars opening. He tells them he won't be spending it with her cuz he's going to the movie. They're like "You just got back together, don't you think it would be better to spend her birthday with her? You can see the movie any time." He's like "But I got the ticket while we were still broken up." There was a joke in there about cereal and Chewbacca, but I can't quite remember it.

  •

That night Arthur comes to Sheldon in his dream as the Jedi and Sheldon tells him that his friends think he should spend Thursday with his girlfriend for her birthday instead of going to Star Wars. Arthtur tells him "That sounds right." There's a joke where he asks why he's wearing a brown moo-moo, etc. And Sheldon makes up his mind to spend the evening with Amy instead.

The next evening, the guys are surprised Sheldon actually gave up going to SW for Amy. They're all headed to the comic book store and ask if he wants to join them. He tells them he can't because he needs to prepare for Amy's birthday (he's going to his laptop, so who knows what he was going to look up there ;)). He goes up to them with his printed out ticket and says how important the ticket is, etc and hands it to Leonard saying how he trusts him to give it to someone worthy. Leonard starts saying how maybe Penny will want to go, so he snatches it from him and hands it to Raj. There were two takes, and in the first one, Raj mentions Emily. In the second one it was someone from the geology department. Both times, he snatches the ticket away again. When he gets to Howard, the first take is just Howard kind of hesitantly taking it without saying anything and the second is Sheldon taunting him with it by snatching it out of his reach a few times.

After the guys leave, Sheldon heads over to Penny's apartment. He knocks and calls out Penny's name, and she and Bernadette decide to see what would happen if Bernie answers instead. So she calls "Come in!" and nothing happens. So he knocks again calling Bernie's name and then Penny answers. He calls out to them that he can stand there all night knocking. They tell him to just come in. He enters and tells them he'd like some advice as to what to do for Amy's birthday. Now that they're back together he wants it to be perfect. So he gives them the three options-- 1. The possibility of her playing her harp with the LA Philharmonic (Bernie is like "You can DO that??" and he's like "I said the POSSIBILITY"), 2. A ticket to some wool convention thing because Amy likes to knit (there were a few takes of this scene with various jokes from Penny about barn animals, spending time with sheep, etc. Bernie says it could be romantic with the two of them up in the cold, snuggling, etc. Sheldon tells them he won't be going. If they think he's afraid of birds, they should see him arouns sheep), 3. Coitus. The girls just stare at him. Penny's holding a wine glass and she breaks it while she's holding it (in one of the takes she spilled the liquid on/in her shoe and ended up taking it off to dump it out. LOL). When the camera panned to Jim you could tell he was trying to keep a straight face but it just was NOT happening. He grinned every time. The girls list the options again--Harp thing, sheep thing, or "wild thing" (said by Bernie). Penny tells Sheldon that's a huge step and asks if he's sure he's ready for it. He tells them that intimacy has been difficult for him but that he thinks he's raedy for it. So it's settled "My birthday present for Amy will be my genitals". He leaves and the girls are just standing there gobsmacked.

  •

Meanwhile the other guys are at the comic book store trying to figure out what to do with Sheldon's ticket. They consider giving it to Stuart, but Raj asks if they've ever been to a movie with Stuart and points out how he's like an old man. Instead of eating popcorn or snacks from the concession he brings a thermos of soup. They ask him what he's doing Thursday night anyway, and he says he has a doctor's appointment or something cuz something is acting up (sorry, don't quite remember) and then Wil enters the store, and immediately they're like "Wil! Want to go to Star Wars??" Wil is game, and Stuart is like "Fine, take Wil instead of me, no soup for you" or something to that effect.

The girls are walking down the stairs and Amy thanks them for taking her out for her birthday. They say how since she'll be spending the evening with Sheldon tomorrow they wanted to do something for her tonight. They ask her what she wants to do and she mentions a restaurant she wants to go to, and they're like "Oh, we thought maybe we could go for a wax". Then she's like "Why would I want to go for a wax for my birthday? Let's just go to dinner". They agree, and Bernie suggest that afterwards they could watch a dirty movie and if anyone had any questions, they could be answered. Amy knows something's up so she asks them why they're saying this stuff. The girls are hesitant. Bernie tells her they don't want to ruin anything but that Sheldon said he plans to get intimate with her tomorrow night. Amy screams out "SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!!" She's so happy and lowers herself to sit on the steps saying how she's wanted this for so long and she doesn't even know what to do. Then she's like "Yes, I do. Let's go get waxed!!!" and books it down the stairs.

In bed that night, Arthur the Jedi returns to Sheldon and Sheldon tells him how he's decided to get intimate with Amy. Arthur pulls his lightsaber free and impales himself with it. But unfortunately for him, that does nothing. He says it was worth a try. Sheldon says he was hoping he could get some advice. Arthur sinks down onto the bed and starts awkwardly saying how when a man gets off a woman's bloomers...but Sheldon stops him saying that he knows the mechanics. This is just a big step for them and he wants to do it right, but he's afraid of getting overwhelmed. Arthur tells him that if it's with the right person it'll be okay. Sheldon thanks him and tells him "You're the wisest of us all". Arthur points out that he's just a part of Sheldon's own mind. So Sheldon tells him "Well then, you're fun to look at"

  •

The following night the guys are all dressed in Star Wars shirts getting ready to leave for the movie. Bernie and Penny are in the living room too. They can't believe they're going to see SW. Penny comments about how she's glad she won't have to hear about it anymore. As they're leaving, I think it's Raj who says how he's still surprised Sheldon gave this up for Amy. Leonard is like "We're going to have so much more fun than he is!" The door closes and Bernadette is like "Oh now they're not!" and Penny says, "Knowing them...yeah, they will." Bernie asks if she thinks Sheldon will really go through with it. Penny tells her he seems ready. She gave him a few pointers about what girls like, and after he stopped giggling, he seemed confident.

Amy is in her apartment with romantic music playing, lighting a bunch of candles. She looks gorgeous in a flowery dress and cardigan, and even her hair looks great. When Sheldon knocks, she jumps onto the couch with her legs outstretched over the cushions and crosses them all sexy. It's so funny and adorable. She calls for him to come in. He tries, but the chain is on the door. So she jumps up and runs over to open it. He has flowers for her (:D). He apologizes for being late but he also had a balloon for her that got away and he spent some time chasing it. She lets him in and they sit down on the couch together. She's like "So....what do you have planned for tonight" all kind of flirty and he's like "Well, I thought I would take you to dinner to this nice restaurant..." She tells him that sounds nice but she's not really hungry. Maybe they can do PRESENTS first. He's like "Oh...okay." Then she admits that she knows his gift was intimacy. The girls told her. He's like "Is that okay?" And in response she leans in and kisses him. His hands are in his lap while she's doing this. She pulls away and he tells her he's going to need verbal confirmation for this. She says "Yes!" Sheldon starts to say "Okay, let me just pull up a quick contract from the internet--" but she cuts him off with another kiss, and a second or two

Back at Amy's apartment, Sheldon is sitting in her bed with the covers pulled up to his waist with his undershirt on. The door opens and Amy peeks in, wearing a cute nightgown that goes to her knees with capped sleeves. She enters and says "Hi." She looks a little shy. Sheldon says "Hello." Then she asks "So...should I just get into bed with you?" He says she should. She climbs under the covers and they're both like "Hi" "Hello" again. It was akward and funny and really sweet. Shelddon realizes Amy is shaking and asks if she's cold. She says no, but that she's a little nervous. She's been waiting so long for this and just isn't sure what to expect. Sheldon tells her he isn't either "So let's find out together." She agrees. She leans in and reaches to press her hand to his cheek, cradling his face. They're about to kiss and it goes back to...

The guys are sitting at the movie. Wil is telling them how he's just having some fun and how everyone takes this kind of stuff too seriously. How people think the way a movie ends, etc is going to change their lives. Raj is like "Wait! Did you hear something bad about the movie!?" After some conversation/laughs, it goes back to...

  •

Sheldon in bed again, this time, laying down, hair mussed, shirt off. There's a little contented smile on his face. He says "I enjoyed that more than I thought I would." It pans over to Amy with the most epic sex hair I've ever seen, and she's smiling and says "Me too." She is bare shouldered with the covers pulled up over her chest. The two of them are laying there holding hands. Sheldon tells her he can't wait for her next birthday so they can do it again. Amy smiles and says "That's fine." Then she rolls over and leans into him to cuddle. He puts his arm around her and rests his head against her's contentedly and closes his eyes.

It goes back to the guys at the theater and they basically mimic Shamy's words saying how they enjoyed that more than they expected, etc.

The tag scene is Sheldon in bed and Arthur returns. He's kind of grinning like a dirty old man, asking Sheldon how it went. Sheldon is like "It was amazing!" then starts talking about the SW movie. He's like "And what about Amy?" Sheldon tells him what Amy thought of the movie, completely oblivious to what Arthur was really asking.

Thank you Kerry!!! And to your friend who wrote all of this up!!

This actually seems like a hilarious episode, full of classic Sheldonisms... the whole knocking bit, and the line "My birthday present for Amy will be my genitals" I actually LOL'd. I agree with what Kazzie posted on twitter, that it will be "perfect"

I sooooo hope we get to see a girls night with Penny/Bernie grilling Amy, and the guys finding out and grilling Sheldon about it :D

Thank you Kerry and your friend !

this episode sounds amazing !

And it is Sheldon who thought about these gifts !  I understood it was the girls who suggested this with other things. That's better this idea came spontaneously from him.

its all him!  Which means more.  No pushing from anybody.  What a man he's become which to me was the whole purpose of this break.  But I'll save those feelings for the Shamy thread
