StarTrekSheldon18
Oops, I guess I forgot that people aren't allowed to have opinions that differ from anyone else's. My bad. You have your (valid) opinions, and I have mine. I'm sorry if I came off hatey-- It's been a rough week for me and I apologize for the snappy tone. It was unnecessary. What I won't apologize for is my opinions. Everyone is entitled, including me. Including you.
wowbagger
Oops, I guess I forgot that people aren't allowed to have opinions that differ from anyone else's. My bad. Now, now, be fair. You are allowed to have your opinions, as are other people. You are allowed to disagree with other people, and-look at that- other people are allowed to disagree with you. Disagreement is not censorship. Welcome to the threads, by the way!
MsTeller
At this point does anyone else think that maybe the show's haters and detractors might have a point? That maybe the writers DO secretly hate these characters and DID create them for the purpose of breaking them down and making fun of them?Fans have always assumed that the humor is meant to be affectionate and that the ultimate message is meant to be positive even if there are a few bumps along the way. But that is not what I am getting from the recent taping reports or the overall direction of the show. The message I am getting loud and clear from the writing is that these characters are wrong for being who they are and will not achieve their happy ending until they change enough to become more socially and romantically acceptable. So even if it does "all work out" in the end it will still end up being a letdown of epic proportions because these will NOT be the characters we love. That is why I don't think people are just threatening to drop the show because they dislike one episode. I think a lot of us really mean it!I feel very badly right now for both Lenny and Shamy fans. Ouch on both counts! Both relationships turned ugly and mean-spirited very fast. Here are some positives:1. Those of us who write may have lost an excuse for vegging out in front of the TV for another half hour a week. We now have that much more time on our hands to work on a better story of our own!2. Fans of other shows can now move on and forget any mistakes we feel were made on our past favorites. There is now proof it could have been MUCH worse!3. The cast of TBBT have made it regardless of what happens for the rest of the series. We know that they will do a great job with whatever material the writers give them and maybe now there will be awards since they can compete in the same drama-soap-comedy category with shows like Orange is The New Black. Even after the show ends or we stop watching we know we will get to watch them in other things!

bbtfan07
ALSO SHELDON UP TO THIS EPISODE SAW HIS BEST FRIENDS HAPPY TOGETHER AND WANTING TO GET MARRIED. WHAT BETTER EXAMPLE DID SHELDON HAVE TO WANT TO HAVE THAT TO? AND SEEIN HIS MOTHER BEING INTIMATE MAY HAVE BROKEN DOWN MOST OF THE BARRIERS TO THAT PREVIOUSLY OBJECTIONABLE TOPIC.Thanks so much for the report, kazzie! And absolutely no need to apologise for it not being that in depth. I think it's amazing how much you were able to remember without taking notes. Also many thanks to everyone else who shared tidbits and impressions!Hope you all enjoyed the taping, even if there were some parts of the story you didn't like. Am curious to see how it all plays out on screen.
Tensor
A Shamy gal, over in the Shamy thread just gave me an idea: Yeah I think it is going to take something traumatic like one of them having an accident to make them both realise what they have.Leonard and Sheldon (or Penny and Amy) get in a car accident, leaving Amy and Penny (or Sheldon and Leonard) rushing to the hospital, making everything better. I know, weak tea, overused trope, etc. I'm trying to stay positive.
Ranger Rosa
I love the logical points of view. It makes me feel better.I really don't know what will happen or what to expect. But there's a buddhist proverb that says that somethings are like strawberries at the edge of an abyss. Do you understand me?The wrtiters rule everything. There's nothing we can do to change their minds. It was only the first episode. My first reaction was being very upset with what happened, and I'm still like this, even after reading the TR, 'cause like many here, I adore shamy. BUT I can't keep wandering on and on and to what will happen next. No, wait...I can, but my expectations probably will not happen, and then I'll be upset again, like in a infinite loop.I want them to get back together, yes. I don't want to be fooled again, yes. I want everything to be ok, but everything happens for a reason -even in fiction. There's a reason for them for doing that, we just doesn't know why. Instead of complaining unceasingly about things I can't change, I'll just accept this, move on and hope things to get better coming soon. Yeah, the sittuation isn't good for Lenny and for Shamy either, but at some point it will be solved, sooner or later. Even if they keep them (shamy) apart the whole season (oh hell no), someday, somehow, they'll be back together! This break up can be used for a personal growth for both. Sheldon can stop being so childish, Amy can realize what she really really wants (insert Bernadette gif here), and then they can be the couple we love again. Nothing comes out of nowhere, everything happens for a reason. So I'll just eat the strawberry right now and wait what will come next before freak out (althought I kinda freaked out last night with the spoilers, haha). Remember: this too shall pass.

kerrycec03
is up. I'm terrible at figuring out the names. Have fun folks! Happy to see the writers being Molaro, Holland & Tara. Good mix to me. tmp
I can't shake the feeling that this episode was part 1 of a two-parter, and the next episode will end on a more positive note. It's still possible Lenny will annul the marriage so they can do it "right" next time, and Shamy will be on the road to being OK. I just think we may be jumping to conclusions. Tensor
looks like the last word ends with illation to me after enlarging and enhancing. With this, it leaves us with Oscillation and Vacillation. Which could be either couple or both. Mirs, I can't find any words that end with an "illotion". Also, notice the difference in that letter and the 'o' at the end, next to the 'n'. Edited August 12, 2015 by Tensor
djsurrey
Given the way the Lenny engagement has gone the Lenny wedding seemed quite consistent.I think they will have an unconventional marriage but stay married. On the other hand there is the loose cannon of boat girl. Only time will tell what that will mean. The other thing that took me by surprise was the line about Penny being hard to carry. What was that? As far as Shammy goes it seems consistent with everything so far. Question is can Sheldon change now that he has reason to be motivated? I think he will.
Tensor
I don't think that line was a knock on Penny, so much as it was a comment on Leonard's arm strength.
denajeanx
Thanks to everyone that gave us info I really don't see how they could ignore everything that happened in this one episode. There is too much lingering to just leave it for a few episodes. I think we will definitely learn more and possibly get a bit of resolution in the next episode. I will reserve my table flipping until then. I really do believe this will be a good thing for Shamy, it's just going to suck. Honestly, idk what the hell the writers are doing with Lenny. Cherry
No idea about episode 2. Do not want to think about it after episode's 1 disaster. I thought 8*24 was the worst episode. Sounds like 9*01 is even worse. To be honest, I'm not really surprised by Amy's breaking up with Sheldon. I'm terribly disapointed that Sheldon didn't act mature and had to pursue her. Very logically it lead to a break up. But it was to be expected. A break is a very fluctuent zone, are you on or off? It's totally IC that Sheldon pushes Amy so that she makes up her mind. Now what really bugs me is that some Shamies are happy with that. I remember that after season 7 finale where there was neither a break nor a break up, some were really becoming crazy. And now it's " oh, I'm so happy! It means good things will happen!!! " On my side, when I read that kind of comment, I feel like an alien...How could a break up mean good things are going to happen? It doesn't make sense. Theory 1: Sheldon is pursuing Amy... Episode 1 showed us: the more he's trying to push Amy towards one direction the more she's going the opposite way, which is very logical, she's still mad at him.Theory 2: Amy is dating other men, Sheldon is getting jealous and reacts. Oh, really? Doesn't it sound like déjà vu to you ( and Stuart's reaction makes it even worse )? And on top of that, doens't it sound toooooooo cliché? And to finish, I'm still on the idea that the one who decides on the break / break up should be the one who makes the first move for a reconciliation. I would be both disappointed and surprised if Sheldon was to make the first move. First, because he still hasn't understood what he did wrong, which we can't blame it, he did so much worse in the past, to think Amy broke up with him just because he talked of a TV show during their date night is totally beyond me ( no, I still haven't understood Amy's motives after a 4 months hiatus and after seeing 8*24 in my language a few weeks ago... Amy's reaction is totally overreaction IMO, well ... ) Secondly, Amy is not a saint. Contrary to what StarTrekSheldon said a few hours ago, I'm a Shamy and I really don't get the #coitus thing. Coitus is just a detail. But Amy's constant pushing, even though she slowed down a bit in season 8, was really irritating. She knew right from the beginning whom she was with... Why couldn't she stop complaining about the slowliness of their Relationship? You can't start going out with someone and hoping you'll be changing him/her, that's not a good start for a healthy Relationship. She should have known and accepted Sheldon with his flaws. If that break up is really going to bring good things, I would like to be: Amy finally accepting Shledon as he is. As for Lenny... I'm not a Lenny fan, but I feel sad when thinking about what the writers did to them in this episode. If only it was a happy event ( as every wedding should be by the way ) But no. For God-konows-what-reasons, they had to ruin it: A cheap wedding in Vegas, friends attending through a web cam ( don't you need witnesses in the USA? ) Shamy's fighting and breaking up in the middle of it, and finally Lenny's fighting because of a kiss that happened 2 years ago and Leonard who had " forgotten" to mention that girl he's working with... Finally spending their wedding night seperately, each one griping about the other.

Tensor
Yeah, but titillation, as a description doesn't really fit. The first two go along quite well with the situations that we were left with from the taping report.
