TBH this is the most drama-filled comedy I've ever seen!

then you haven't watched very many sitcoms then.  The drama on this show is the Saturday morning comics compared to other sitcoms with heavy drama in them.

I just can't get over the crap wedding lenny got. We have been waiting 8 yrs for this and we get the worst wedding ever, even Howard and Bernadette got a better wedding and I'm sure Sheldon and Amy will get a better one than the one they fed us lenny fans. It's a kick in the teeth for all the support we have given over 8yrs. They deserved a proper wedding there was some good moments between them but why the drama and more on their wedding day. I feel cheated like penny and I feel for penny in all this.

I was pretty bummed we missed the pronouncement for a punchline. The vows are sweet but Lenny deserved better. I'm hopeful they'll get to do something of a "do-over" ceremony once they work past their issues. Big and extravagant and something their friends and family can attend. It wouldn't completely make up for it, but it would be nice.

I wonder how the cast reacted to the script.

Mayim sometimes blogs about big episodes, I hope we get some insight from her.  Or maybe some interviews near (or after) the premiere where they talk about their reactions.

And im sorry Leonard doesent have to proove anything. One OOC mistake on a boat, does not change the fact Leonard been committed to Penny on every single lvl for years now. He well need do some grovelling course. But its almost ppl forget Leonards history because of one instance, that could turn out be a gag. He just needs to continue what he has been especially the past two seasons, the loving, unconditional fiance now husband who loves her. Im just not going to throw Leonard under a bus so quickly like some are prepared to do.

That's my hope too, but why am I feeling cynical about getting it? Is it because I feel like 8 years of (over?) investing time, hope and energy into this coupling has been repaid with a storyline more concerned with cheap controversy than deep storytelling or that, even if they give us an improved and resigned wedding later it's impossible to take back the sour taste that this one leaves? Is it perhaps the comparison between Howard-ette's romantic rooftop ceremony with friends and Lenny's rushed and skyped service with a shamey argument roiling away behind it for distraction? Is it the sense that the writers are that careless with what was once a central core of the show? Yes I know that things can play out better than what the written word implies (eg Leonard's "heavy ' joke) so I'm hoping that might ameliorate the disappointment somewhat. I'd love to know what Johnny G and Kaeley made of the 'punchline' to their 8 years of effort.

So glad that I invested nothing and just had some laughs and enjoyed the science, tech and sifi references. Really have you not been enjoying yourself?

Well there has been stories where people end up in ER with a carrot stuck up their ass and claim they fell on it. But who am I to question TPTB version. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

OT but true: In our ER we saw so many of these "accidents" that we actually had a special drawer for all the stuff that got pulled out. Any time someone said "special drawer" we all knew exactly what that meant! Anyway carry on........

That's what I think Mitchy now that Lenny are married I don't see the writers going back from that and I read that Leonard's boat girl is showing up in episode 2 so hopefully this is resolved quickly and like you said have a do over

I both understand and envy your joy. But, of course, getting and keeping, us heavily invested is part of a story writers tools of trade (especially in an ratings/ad-based arena like tv). An alternative to good writing is ratings via cheap controversy. Which have they gone for here (assuming the two are mutually exclusive)?

It is possible to have an interest in the characters without getting too caught up in the progress of their relationships.

Oh absolutely, but human nature being what it is, it's easy, when the characters are relatable and entertaining, it's not hard to slip into over-identification. Without that would there even be Tapatalk or Fanfiction sites? After all, why are we even here? On this site, now?

Honestly I found this site because I got tired of rushing home from work just to find it was a repeat episode rather than a new episode. I find the conversation on this site entertaining a lot of the time. More so when emotions are not too extreme.

I avoid fanfiction. Don't even know what it is like. I want to keep my impressions grounded in the actual show. If I wanted to read fiction I'd pick up a book.

I don't enjoy watching on off relationships. Episodes 3.19 and 4.24 kind of diminished my interest in Lenny as a couple. I warmed up some after 6.24 but I'm not getting emotionally tied up in it.

Funny ppl say Lenny are the one nd off again type. They broke up once, so they are off lol. Better then Ross and Rachel, at least since s5 they have been solid, even now with their shitty wedding, still not broken up. Theirs no breaking up these two!! lol.

I never new fanfiction existed until TBBT. I was amazed at the range and diversity. One thing I enjoy that the very best of Fanfic supplies? It's to take ideas, relationships and concepts that only get sketchy treatment in a short sit come, and expand them with deep, believable backstory. So when the show throws up a 'that was interesting but rushed' moment Fanfic. Of course there is a lot of Mills'n'Boon fluff, but some stories are very creative and deeply psychological character studies.

We are getting off topic but a sitcom in 20 minute format is never going to live up to the depth one could get in a well written story that lacks constraints of time, timing and having to appeal to a diverse audience. Apples and oranges.

Indeed, apples and oranges. My very point - strengths in both, and both can and do operate happily at the same time (the comic con Fanfic was a funny piece of criss pollination. As was Amy's in-store attempt at fanfic) . But your point is valid. We're wandering off the topic at hand.

Can i just say writers bite the damn bullet. Have Leonard move in with Penny, its about damn time. Theyre married!!' What is this s3? Hold on  must be s6, difference is Alex has morphed into Mandy the asian chick heh. This is not where they should be in s9. Almost they are relying on old ideas, its like were witnissing a montage of 1-8. Penny hulking out and storming off, and Leonard  letting her. Its worked since s6 because Leonard has challenged Penny, thats not challenging  her. Thats cowering in fear, and whispering when shes not hearing "At least im not hard to lift". May as well be back at "our babies well be smart and beautiful". With Shelnard wollowing together. Instead of embracing change, they are going backwards. Its next door!! Lord its not Pluto...

Such as? Please support your claim, because I've watched many sitcoms during the years and I don't remember as much drama. Maybe my memory's failing me. Please educate me. Thanks.

Or  you can get really caught up with the characters and their relationships and get totally pissed off if they don't write the story well. There is no right or wrong way to see the show, is there?

Try watching the series Mom, also from Chuck. Sometimes the drama is so strong you can't believe it is a comedy, but it can be very funny at times too.

Sometimes I agree with many things you say, but I'm tired of comparing Leonard/Penny with Ross and Rachel. There are some similarities, but they are much more different from each other. I also feel that it diminishes Leonard and Penny. JMO

Just remembered that Leonard was bragging about Penny being his girlfriend showing the topless shower scene and  being cheered on by the researchers.  I thought Leonard, all though inappropriately, was being a proud boyfriend.

These two have learned to forgive the others short comings rather than lose the other whether in a relationship or not.  Each has done things that I would have considered unforgivable, but somehow gotten past it.
