When gaging how a person is we take into consideration ALL of his actions and not just the 4 occasions in which he displayed empathy. And if your overwhelming evidence is 4 instances out of 10,000 you're the one who's spewing BS. Those were just SOME of the examples, the most important ones, in my opinion. And you are still the one spewing bs, Carlos. You basically said that Leonard would be better off dead. By your logic, instances when Sheldon is an ass make his good deeds-including saving Leonard's life-irrelevant. Therefore, that action was irrelevant and it annoys you that I've brought it up ("it" being "Leonard's life having been saved"). Therefore, Leonard would be better off dead. Happy now? And seriously, 10 000 instances? Give me a break.
Carlos
9 hours ago, Mislav said: Very well put. I do agree with that more focus on the other characters is needed, and that some storyline should be lighter. I just don't appreciate some Lenny shippers constantly bashing Sheldon and, apparently, only complaining about the show on the general discussion thread most of the time. I wonder would they be that supportive of such "right" and "attitude" if Shamy shippers would complain about lack of Shamy while bashing Leonard. And that is your problem. Instead of being more concerned with what you think you are concerned about Lenny shippers this or Lenny shippers that. I personally think Sheldon is a great character, but it pisses me off that he is so overused when there really isn't any need to. The fact that I'm sometimes also pissed about Lenny lack of scenes or development doesn't have anything to do with Shamy either. Finally, I'd hope the show would be more balanced and I'd hope they'd give more room (time) for some stories to breathe but that's merely a personal opinion 8 hours ago, Mislav said: Those were just SOME of the examples, the most important ones, in my opinion. And seriously, 10 000 instances? Give me a break. You need to learn how to read. I said that 100% of the actions of a person have to be taken into consideration to determine how he/she is. Besides that I just went by what you said, you cited 4 example I mentioned your 4 examples. Simple. What part of "you have to take into consideration 100 % of Sheldon's actions" didn't you get? Math too complicated for you? I never said Sheldon's good deeds were irrelevant, or that Leonard would be better off dead. If you want to respond to my post, please, by all means do so. But don't infer things that are not there, or arrive at any conclusions based on what you THINK I'm saying because clearly and thankfully our brains don't work in the same way. Kasey
Is there a section in the rules of this forum that discusses what actual "bashing" is? I ask seriously only because to me bashing and not liking a character are NOT the same thing. I don't care/like Sheldon for the most part. It's not that I hate him but I don't find much of his characteristics to be something I admire or would want to be friends with. If I state things that are true about him, and also that I don't like it, does that mean I'm bashing the character? I wouldn't think so. I'm not saying it in a mean spirited way. I like Leonard, but he is not without his faults. If I speak of those faults, then am I bashing him or just telling it how I see it? Again not in a mean spirited way. The reason I ask is that if every time I say something that I don't like about a character, and thus going to be accused of bashing said character, then I might as well say nothing at all. And that wouldn't be fair me thinks.. Edited January 30, 2016 by Kasey

No. I'd assume you mean like the "good Samaritan" and he is not like that at all. Nor is he anything like a Pharisee as he does not religiously hold on to the strict rules of a group. He follows his own individual rules that he makes up himself and he is not religious at all. He is his own god; except when he is falling apart. legacy99
I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. That way sheldon would be the hero and over ride the big moment for Howardette Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

It's been so long since I saw Fraiser that I can't remember. I do remember losing interest once Niles and Daphne got together, even wrinkling my nose a little when they described frolicking naked on a beach together, I went from rabid Shipper to Ew-TMI-er overnight! I'm not even sure that I watched the last episode actually. Hey, wouldn't Christine Baranski (Leonard's Mom) have made a fabulous 'Maris'? Although, like Mrs Wolowicz, I'm glad they kept her hidden. Oh, and while we're touching on Donald Trump (shudder), my friend sent me this.... Peter Serafonowitz is amazingly talented and underated, keep your eyes and ears out for him. Watching some of the soul crushing moments were hard from a character standpoint, but as fans of Jim and Mayim's work they were absolutely a feast for the eyes. Ya just can't turn away... When I watch old seasons it's easy to see that the way I enjoy the show is different now. It's become more serious to be sure, but it's still funny to me but maybe in a more grown up way. Hard to put into words some time... Have you found that your involvement in this forum has affected your enjoyment of the show?

Stephen Hawking
1 hour ago, ATOB said: Oh, did that happen in Fraiser? Not exactly. Frasier, Niles and Martin were traveling in a taxi, when the heavily pregnant driver went into labor. Stuck in traffic, and with Frasier and Niles freaking out (and driving the taxi driver crazy, with psychobabble), Martin steps in and delivers the baby. Of course, when describing the event to Daphne, Niles tries to take all the credit, describing it as "just putting into practice, my medical training", only for Frasier to ruin it, by saying what really happened, namely "Niles ran down the street to a Falafel stand, to fetch a jug of hot water". 1 hour ago, ATOB said: Hey, wouldn't Christine Baranski (Leonard's Mom) have made a fabulous 'Maris'? When I waded into my first online fandom back in the day, the internet discussions definitely clouded my view of the show I was watching. If that show is repeated now (from *counts* 14-ish years ago) and I see it's an episode centred around the character with the crazy-troll fans? I still swear and change the channel. Which is a shame cus I really enjoyed that show at the time! The forum I was on back then didn't have an ignore function though Now a days I am a little more hardened to 'internet opinions' and they very rarely affect my enjoyment of a show at all however the person who pointed out that Penny and Zack got married in vegas just the same as Lenny can GTF cus they ruined that one for me! I can understand the identification with Amy and I can accept that people might want more for Sheldon because they empathise with the character, but to see him as an object of desire escapes me... and I am not without ability to admire the same sex. I have said earlier that Jimmy Smits as Bobby in NYPD Blue was as character I "might" of have turned for, but Sheldon has few redeeming features. He is so self-focused, and, humbly, my forearms are equally as attractive. And Sheldon just strikes me as the person who would push past me on the way to the lifeboat - because humanity needs him - or so he believes. Your response. 12 hours ago, Mislav said: Sheldon saved Leonard's life in "The Staircase Implementation" and he was very worried about Leonard in "The Septum Deviation", he drove Penny to the hospital in "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency", and he took care of Amy for weeks in "The Fish Guts Displacement." So it looks like you're talking bs here. Claiming that sitcom character is selfish enough to murder his friend despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary seems pretty... unhealthy, and borderline disrespectful. I think the bold bit is what you were thinking of. Why murder came into your mind entirely escapes me. But there are so many instances where Sheldon has comically acted out of self-interest. He used Amy as human shield against Howard, he stole the Indiana Jones film cans out of spite, he spoiled the Harry Potter/Dumbledore twist. The list goes on. He is the antagonist that everyone else has to deal with. It can be funny, of course. But it baffles me why it is surprising to you that I assume Sheldon would step past me on the way to the lifeboat - he is built that way. Anyway, this has been fun. Let's move on.
