Then I fell very sorry for her, if one year of adult responsibility has worn her down that much then how is she going to handle the next forty or so?

Well, the issue would be consistent with Penny before the Sales job. It is two years anyway?

edit

If she is close to 30 now I don't think she will be a sales rep for 40 years. She would likely retire early.

Hows she going to manage the next year is what she needs to think about now. Will it be an issue or will the writers just forget?

The anxiety pills may have been a set up for the line she does not want the ones she is selling (due to the side effects).

Pennys not perfect. Shes just turned 30. Im sure all of us struggle with life and responsibility. Lets not act like were so perfect haha. Watching s2 I.understand why Penny longs for a more simple life haha. Shes going to have to.accept her life choices. As referenced in next ep both Leonard and Penny are afraid of growing up and getting older. It's a pretty common thing. Imo it seems like Pennys burnt out. May need q break from Pasedena. I mean whens the last time she went on.Holiday? Lenny need a honeymoon. And move them out lord.

If Leonard's Father or siblings apppear. Trust me LEonard well be castrated haha.

Leonard's father has been through a lot being married to his mother. Leonard said his father also used the hugging machine that Leonard made.

Quote

Leonard: Of course she did. Anyway, that’s not what I was gonna say. When I was ten years old, I built a hugging machine.

Penny: A hugging machine?

Leonard: Yeah. I got a dressmaker’s mannequin, I stuffed it with an electric blanket so it would be warm, and built two radio-controlled arms that would hug me and pat my back.

Penny: Oh, that is so sad.

Leonard: You know what the saddest part was?

Penny: What?

Leonard: My father used to borrow it.

Well yes alot of why Leonard is like he is due to his relationship with his mother. You have to think how different Leonard would be if say Mary was his mother. Who.comes across warm and loving.

I'm recalling I forgot about Howard's cousin.

I forgot that too. She was in the limo, in Prom Equivalency.

If we count Skypes, I think that has Sheldon, Raj and Howard, tying at 3 each.

Yes but according to TPTB Leonard is up to his eyeballs in student dept and can't even afford to live alone

Whereas Sheldon, whose expenses account for just 46.9% of his after-tax income (and can afford to leave unopened paychecks in his desk), needs to sell his sperm, to pay for fractional t1 bandwidth.

He also claims, he can't afford the rent on his own.

he buys Penny food and a car pays her bills without an apparent probleme

At one point, she was in debt to Leonard, to the tune of over $1,400.

In The Financial Permeability he tells Penny that he only needs 46.9% of his income for expenses, hence the extra cash on hand.

He also keeps a pile of salary checks in his desk drawer, so he can't really be struggling financially.

I actually prefer Sheldon with Amy.

Yes, he can be an unthinking idiot, but the times he does/says something caring, and/or romantic, are just the sweetest things ever.

Oh I never Said Sheldon is bad with Amy. But from a comedy stand point pre Amy he was hilarious. I agree though Sheldons better with Amy.

I'm pretty sure he said he had 5 brothers too at one point?

According to Priya, she has five brothers and sisters, so Raj has at least two sisters, together with a maximum of 3 brothers.

You might be right about Leonard's family. His Dad could possibly be interesting depending on how it plays out.

Given the wedding and that we are in season nine I don't think we are going to see Penny's family because there has been a lot of opportunity already but then I did not expect Meemaw to show up halfway through season nine either. Who knows.

Well Shamy consummating their relationship and meeting Mee-Maw were the two requests from PaleyFest 2013, so the fact that the show will be attending PaleyFest 2016, the writers seemed to have rushed fulfilling those requests.

Wow you guys are taxed way less.

Not necessarily. The last line of vonmar's post says:-

There is also federal income tax that would need to be added to that.

They also don't have a tax free allowance, meaning they pay income tax from the first dollar.

There is nothing on screen that  contradicts this past continuity.

I disagree, at least in relation to Leonard.

He's supposed to be loaded up with student loan debt, yet he pays for over $1,400 dollars worth of food, gasoline, and rent for Penny.

Personally I have no interest in seeing Leonard's weak father or successful siblings as I think they will just make him look quite bad :(

Penny's junkie brother could be really funny.

I can't see Amy's family being anything but sad tbh but TPTB did say we would see some of them soon.

Howard's Dad I think is a must before he becomes a father.

& I think we've see enough of Raj and Bernadette's families already without introducing new characters.

Wadya think?

I think, instead, it could be interesting to meet Leonard's father. He was presented as a weak man overshadowed by a cold, bossy and totally unloving  wife, that made his life (and Leonard's life) a nightmare. But, ultimately, he found the courage (and a pretty new girlfriend) and left her. I'm curious to know how his life goes on now, if without Beverly he is happier and more assertive and I think that his example could be useful for Leonard to get rid of all the issues he has with Beverly. Personally, I'm more curious about him than about Penny's mother, TBH, maybe because we don't know too much about her up to now and I can't properly figure her character out (apart from the fact that any casting different from Lisa Kudrow will be taken as an outrage by the fandom worldwide, LOL!!!)

As for Amy's family, I don't think we will meet any of them this season. The line by Molaro at SDCC for me most likely referred to 9.3, when we learnt about the "sin closet" and Amy and Penny talked to her mother by phone about her break-up and pierced ears... I'm really curious to meet Amy's mother in person, but my fondest desire about her family is to understand what's going on with her father. We don't even know for sure if he is alive or if he is still married (or was ever married) to her mother. Amy refers always and only to her mother, she has never mentioned a father in her life. It's a very strange thing, she's the only character with hole like that in her family history.

As for Howard's father, I agree that we will see him relatively soon, maybe he will want to meet his grandchild and this will lead to a reconciliation between him and Howard, or maybe Howard becoming a father will feel the need to reconnect to his own one. Either way, I think he will be the next family member to be introduced.

Yeah Howard's and Leonard's Father im prob most interested in.

The anxiety pills may have been a set up for the line she does not want the ones she is selling (due to the side effects).

About a year and a half for the job.  She just got the job in Season 8 (late September) and had to complete training.  In October of last year, Penny was asking to practice her sales pitch with Emily since she was a real doctor.  Thus, the duration of her being a "top" sales rep is probably just over a year.  That is why it bothers me how financially sound Penny became within just a few months in Season 8.  I mean I realize she might be great at sales, but it bothered me how quickly she was already bragging about making more than double Leonard's salary when she could only compare their salaries on a monthly basis at that point in Season 8.  Yes, Leonard also has debts and student loans that reduce his income, however, Penny insinuated making more than double Leonard's salary before expenses.  I am happy to see Penny put away money in investments and savings and being more responsible, yet everything just seemed to come together too conveniently for her to establish financial independence.  It also felt like a slap in the face to Leonard who did so much for Penny over the course of seven years that it was somehow no longer appreciated or relevant (other than paying Leonard back for the car minus a massage and picture frame saying "best finance ever", but let Penny still rub it in Leonard's face that she is more successful than Leonard).

I don't remember it being said he was an alcoholic, do you remember when that was said?

And he was in prison for being "kind of a chemist" lol

In 9.3, Penny's father said her during the phone call that he was out with his mother to celebrate a month of sobriety (or something like that); and in the episode in Season 7 about Penny featuring in NCIS, the guy got a permission from his rehab center to be with his family to watch the show. He ultimately took that occasion to escape from rehab; it was hinted, if I remember correctly, that  that one was a drug rehab....

Also, at that point, she wasn't really secure in the job.

If she did badly on her "field ride" (whatever that is), it could affect her job.

I was guessing that a 'field ride' was some sort of practical exam, a supervised period at work in order to qualify, rather like when nurses, doctors and teachers have to show they can do the job in practice on the wards or in the classroom, only shorter.  Whatever it was, it was brought forward which left Penny with no choice but to revise instead of enjoying herself with the other two if she wanted to complete her training.

I love those episodes when Penny and Amy get up to mischief. Two women scientists with goodness-knows how many degrees between them making a cake that rolls off the table, dressing up as fairytale princesses, or just getting plastered together I find somewhat inspirational.

I'm lost.

What nephew?

Sorry, grandchild, I always confuse nephew with grandchild, since in Italian we use the same word for both terms, and you understand from the context  which relative you are referring to...I've corrected now, thanks for noticing!

in Bachelor Party Corrosion, Penny rings her dad, to tell him she's married:-

Penny: "Is mom around?"

Wyatt: "Nah, she took your brother out to celebrate. He just got his tenth, one months sober chip. Yeah, she's gonna make him a little necklaces."
