Hazel, just to let you know (and you probably do from my post to you), your post read as if you were comparing Penny negatively, and the "hit that" line sounded like it was a bad thing that Leonard and Penny got together.   You posts since have clarified your meaning for me.

She was cast BECAUSE she was the hot chick.  Imagine the casting call?  I bet it harder find average looking actors to play the "Nerds"  But  you said, Sheldon wouldn't been interested in ANY woman, including Amy.  I might need to disagree with that, because he was!   ONLY because he was written to be intrigued by her.  IMO, he saw a kindred spirit, someone so much like him, he finally felt not so alone. Not to jump her bones, but to have someone who would get him.  Really get him.  

 In real life, he never would have let it go so far, but this is a story and a good one.   At least that is what I think and it what attracts me to Shamy.  I think Lenny's might feel the same.  The Hot girl falling for the lovable nerd?  Does that happen OFTEN is real life?  Nope... sad to say.  Not as often as it should.  Looks and background aside, the pull of the two couples toward each other is the fun shipping aspect of the show.  It's only one part, but enough to pull people like me in.  I gravitate toward the lonely girl, who despite being rejected all her life, she has found love in the most special of places:  A man who would head turned toward no one, but turned toward her, for the briefest of moments in that coffee shop.   Another person might love the story of the loyal and lovable nerd being accepted for his heart rather than his looks or his swagger.  Or they may connect with the blond actress who seeming has it all, except a man who will accept her for more than her looks, but her heart. WHo know why we watch?  But you speak truth when you say its not boring TV.

 

But I have to say, I would still watch a Sheldon only show.  It would be hilarious for at least one season of him being well...Sheldon. LOL.  God, the hours of watching proper folding techniques or the history of the fork with the Theramin playing in the opening credit sequence... LOL...

I agree it all depends what you relate too. I relate to the nerd and the hot girl. As a male. A bit on Meemaw lol.

I think Everything Amy Said was justified. She didn't defend herself much with Sheldon in the past. I liked she showed a backbone. And wasent going to let Meemaw or Sheldons grandmother sorry, no wonder Meemaw treats Sheldon like a child lol. I mean is he gonna call Mary Mummy? Lol. But won't let her walk all over her. Im an Amy fan. So I like Backbone Amy.

While I agree with the premise that he loves Amy for her intellect and interests, i have to disagree that he doesnt have the capacity to appreciate beauty (in the case of this discussion, physical beauty) in other forms. He tells Amy she looked pretty in the prom episode, and in 9.07 eludes to an appreciation of Jennifer Lawrence, who is a pretty gal in her own right.

it just happens to be relatively unimportant to him in the end. in my opinion .

Agree other then Sheldon. You need the straight man as a foil to a crazy mans world lol. Ive had enough of Sheldon let alone a whole season. Tbh how is that any different to now.

Sheldon is only as good as the others around him. If he didn't need other people there would have been no point for Amy. Why do you think there so many Shenny fan fictions? A Sheldon only show wouldn't last a season.

No, Penny asked Sheldon "doesn't Amy look hot?"  Sheldon told Amy that she looked pretty, there's a difference.

I can honestly and truly say I have NO earthly idea why there are ANY Shenny Fan Fics.  At my core, I don't get it.  But to each their own.

Another thing on Shammy. Boy I hope theirs 200th spoilers soon lol. Seeing they haven't dated anyone else. I guess Amy dated Dave. Which I liked as it was healthy. You cant date one person. You need to broaden your horizon. Was a bit disappointed that Sheldon NEVER dated. Some good comedy out of that. U guess Lenny know they belong together as they have been with other ppl. In an unlikely scenario THEY found each other. Despite their many glaring differences. Shamy is Amy who seems alone and finds a difficult man. Who may never be the man she wants him to be. So she needs to accept that.

Well, to be fair, it's the couple they ship and all I can say is if it's marked as a Shenny and you don't like that pairing, then don't read it.  It's not hurting anyone, it's not canon and it's not what's being portrayed on the show so yeah, to each their own.  Let them have their little fantasies.  Who's it really hurting anyway?

And yes!!!  I was (and STILL am) floored at her amazing talent!!

So? Penny suggested it and what did he do then? He looked at Amy and got paniced. If he didn't have the capacity to appreciate beauty, he'd have acted indifferent. Isn't that obvious enough that he did find her attractive? Also although Penny suggested it, he brought it up himself later.

Penny's suggestions that Amy looked hot had a sexual connotation to it...panic set in.  Later, when they were alone, he by his own choice, used the more gentlemanly term of pretty.

Maybe some people don't need to date other people to know who's the one they should be with. A lot of people marry their first love.

Well he appreciates Amy was looking pretty. But hes not primarily WITH her for her looks. Just like Leonard ain't with Penny for her beauty. Theirs more depth in both relationships. Point is Sheldon is attracted to Intelligence and Amys mind. Guess same way Penny feels intellectually challenged by Leonard. But finding Amy attractive is one thing. If he found other women attractive he would of acted like he does, but other then a few references. He never has.
