Have you actually just asked a stupid question?

We have the tr and are discussing it if your here to join in with your opinion great welcome to the debate. If your here to be a gadfly and ask silly questions/make snarky comments/argue about the meaning of a posters every word we have more than one of those allready and they may not like you horning in on their territory

Oh well you can allways go ship Stuart and Starbuck after all why be confined by the charecters actually on the show right? So uncreative...

What a rude, unproductive response.

You (or whoever I responded to) said that they'd been looking online and everyone was upset about the episode. It's pointless, TO ME, to get upset about an episode that hasn't aired yet. I expressed my opinion. I hardly think I've "argued about the meaning of a posters every word" and I'm certain you know that.

Just want to say While Sheldon and Penny def understand each other more then they used to. Its kinda a sounding board. They want nothing from each other. Leonard and Penny def understand each other more. Especially from a deep seeded psychological pov. However im not sure about Shamy AFTER this. Why does Penny get through to him not Amy? I know hes known Penny longer but duno. Penny had a retrieval mission from wHat I read. And buttered him up. But I think ppl are over exaggerating in terms of very intimate. From ppl their it doesn't sound that bad. They have a nice friendship. Penny is very maternal towsrds Sheldon. I just think its time Lenny move out.

Just for the record that wasent me being rude ask anybody that was restrained for me although I am TRYING to tone it down lol

You in your last few posts have called us uncreative for our ships questioned the validity of our opinions and in my opinion portrayed yourself as the urban sophisticate in a room full of country bumpkins who you need to educate.

Being Condesending to others is both rude and to be frank a position already taken by other posters here

If you feel like a country bumpkin in the wake of my posts, that's nothing I've done. Can you point out where I've called you uncreative for your ships because I have absolutely no memory of that.

The problem with the episode is it is predictable.  You have a cast of many honoring Sheldon and feeding his already big ego.  Yes I love Sheldon, but honestly he has an ego that constantly needs feeding and it is getting a bit tiring even for this fan who adores him.  I also feel that while it was nice to tribute the cast members from the past, there are many other creative ways they could have accomplished that and would have made it more interesting.

As far as the Penny relationship with Sheldon, yes they are friends and yes she is like a big sister.  We get it.  But what is sad is when you look at the grand scheme of things, it becomes pathetic.   You have her married to man that she insults openly in front of him, that she can't remember his birthday, and that she would rather think and talk about his best friend.   She acts like she has to "put up with" Sheldon, yet she is the one that always caves and mothers him.  She has a desperate need to be the one in charge and the one that makes him feel better, even at the expense of ignoring her best friend's need.  Amy clearly wanted to comfort Sheldon and Amy has always been good with reasoning with him.  So why did she ignore Amy's wish to comfort Sheldon?  Because she cared more about her own need to comfort him.

I do get that they were trying to show that a sister betrayed him and his pseudo sister made thing all right again.   But was that really necessary?  Is Penny more important than Amy to him?   Wasn't it all just a plot ploy to get Sheldon and Penny in scenes together anyway?

Yes they were showing Leonard/Amy face off because there is a transfer of who will be Sheldon's future roommate (hopefully), but still it just comes across annoying that Penny cares and thinks about and tends to Sheldon more than she shows any care or concern for her husband (or her best friend for that matter.)

I have never been a fan of Sheldon/Penny relationship since S6.  I loved them as frenemies in S1-5.  They were loads of fun to me then.  But once they brought them close and made them supposedly understand each other and no one else supposedly understands them, it just changed their dynamic to one that I have never been a fan of.   This is yet another example.  She supposedly gets him more than Amy so she has to comfort him.  Really?  Amy wasn't even given a chance to prove she gets him in this case.   It just was annoying.

The writers continue to do a huge disservice to Leonard and Penny as a couple and honestly Leonard as a character.  It is frustrating for those of us who have watched since S1.

What made it worse was Penny never even considered when she offered to stay in the bathroom with Sheldon if he didn't want to go out to the party until it was over what that would look like to Leonard and Amy and how it would likely spread some gossip.   Seriously would that happen in real life?  Not likely without a lot of ruffled feathers coming from their significant others.

I get that males and females can be close and good friends....but I guarantee you that my husband would not be at all happy if I went off tending to my male friends all the time and tried to comfort them and take care of them when they were sick, etc. . Likewise I would not be keen on him doing that for his female friends either.

I feel like they have not given any boundaries in this friendship and that is the issue.   It crosses the line many times and thus the reason it becomes unsettling to me.   Friendships need boundaries and so far Penny has none with Sheldon and he with her.   He walks in the bathroom while she is in the shower (even though married to his best friend) and that is disturbing.   She offers to spend the entire birthday party in the bathroom with him and that too is disturbing.  Sure you can trust them in this case because we do know that Sheldon has no interest in her sexually and vice verse, but it is inconsiderate to their significant others and weird in general and crosses boundaries.

I feel that because there has been a lack of Leonard and Penny story and they really haven't been on bad terms, but not exactly acting like newlyweds either, that this episode was just another kick in the gut to Lenny fans and honestly it is frustrating even for a fan that likes Lenny but is more a Shamy fan.   It just shows lack of consideration for the couplings they supposedly established and again, gave far too much attention to Sheldon when he has pretty much owned the entire season.

Hopefully going forward we can see some changes made in living arrangements and dynamic and some boundaries start to appear in the Sheldon/Penny friendship.

Yes to every single word. And what I'm about to say may be not friendly, but whatever.

Towards the end of the taping, whey they were shooting that hug scene again and again with Amy holding a laptop standing quietly besides Sheldon, I didn't even feel anger anymore. It began to feel ridiculous and hysterical. I almost laughed out loud. I was like "Will anyone including Sheldon even notice/care if Amy's not here?"

It was Sheldon's birthday and it was Amy's idea to return his favor of making her last birthday memoriable. And you'd think they'd at least show how Amy prepared for Sheldon's party, presents, etc. No. Nothing. Instead they showed how Penny was a little panic because she didn's have enough time to do all the preparations.

Amy is not even allowed by the writers to comfort Sheldon when he's upset because clearly Leonard is a better choice. Sheldon is not attracted to Amy physically, or at least the writers refuse to show us clearly. And they constantly hint that Amy doesn't know a lot of things about Sheldon, that he can't open up to her completely. She rolls her eyes at him like everybody else. After almost 6 years, they still have date nights once a month. What do Shamy have left, really?

I can't even imagine if I was Amy in last night's episode, how upset and angry I would be. My boyfriend's freaking out and his best friend doesn't allow me to comfort him. Because he knows my boyfriend better. Oh really? Are you gonna have a family with him and have children with him? Am I supposed to call YOU whenever he's upset in the future? You're like his brother, but you're not his brother. I AM his girlfriend and his future wife. So unless you can grow a set of female reproductive system and fuck him, step aside and mind you own fucking business. You're his best friend so you get to decide who he's close to? Just like in season 7 finale, you get to decide that it's better for him to just run away without even letting me know. Because clearly I'm not one part of your weird little family. I'm a outsider. Who gives a fuck about what I feel?

And I don't even want to mention how ridiculous it was for the writers to just let Penny sit with Sheldon in the bathroom and having long, warm conversations, like the old days, with Amy waiting outside. It was Amy's idea to celebrate Sheldon's birthday. Don't you think when Sheldon freaked out, Amy would feel guilty and want to talk with him? But no, ain't nobody got the time for Amy.

Literally, Amy could just disappear and I'm sure nobody would notice. The show doesn't need Amy. Maybe it doesn't need Leonard either. Most of the time it doesn't even need Penny. All that's important is Sheldon.

Amy can be referred as "the girl who has lines when they need to show the romantic side of Sheldon". Leonard is the dude who's there to make sure Sheldon can funtion as a human being. Penny is the girl who's there when they need to make the scenes more beautiful. Howard, Raj and Bernie are just there to say a line or two whenever the writers can't fiil their 18-minute show.

And I love Penny. But how the writers portray her recently is really ruining this character for me. I would never, not in a million years, just go ahead and hug my best friend's boyfriend, with my best friend standing right next to him, even though the guy's just like my little brother.

You know what, in my mother language, we call this kind of woman "Lv Cha Biao". If we translates it to English literally, it means "Green Tea Bitch".

To be fair it was stated that they did more than one take of that scene and one was prerecorded so we won't know which they will use untill it airs. However none of the takes sound good to me because the situation itself is so messed up

Lets do this...

No friendship does not gross me out! I love friends hanging around being pals. That puts a big old smile on my face.

However a friendship where one alternatively treats a grown man like a baby or a dog depending on their mood skeeves me out a bit.

^^^

So if the scene was already pretaped. Why shoot it again? Over and over. Doesn't make sense to shoot a scene that has already been pre-shot. I'm baffled.

Sheldon's not attracted to anyone physically though. Beautiful though Penny may be, he's not attracted to her either. That's why it matters not that Penny hugged him, nor if Leonard did, or his own mother come to that. In fact, given the choice, unless he was upset and in need of comforting, I'd bet he'd sooner not have a hug from Amy given the choice. That's how he is. Did he look like he enjoyed Penny's hug?

Hey! I drink green tea! I think I might be offended. LOL!

Tbf Pennys a very touchy person. She hugs everyone. If Amy had an issue with their friendship. Let alone Leonard. The writer's would of given them that opportunity. Well ic for me. Should of Penny be the one to act all maternal with Sheldon? No tptb dropped the ball their. Its not the old days. That's crossing boundaries. As we know their dynamic has shifted. Its still sibling dynamic. But that's not the point. It's careless. The scene itself is fine from wHat ppl Said. I guess the writers thought Penny was the best one while Amy and Leonard wrre arguing. Seeing she saw it as a retrieval mission. And Sp want absolutely nothing from each other. Thats it. Ppl need to stop overreacting to every time sp share a Scene. I don't like Them either. But it changes nothing in the long term. Lenny are fine though, not so sure about Shamy. Does Sheldon even need Amy? Not sure now.

Sounds like a typical sweet Sp moment. They have a nice friendship. Pennys very maternal.  Can ppl trust Lenny are endgame since pilot? Tbh I dont think this is any different to any of their other scenes.

No we don't trust that Lenny are endgame in fact many don't trust TPTB at all

And people had problems with many of those scenes as well

But Lenny are endgame. I see nothing from tptb. Or the show to convince me otherwise. Why marry them? Ppl are just overreacting.

As this was kind of a 'throw back' episode, maybe the hug was there just to reference the "Saturnalian Miracle" hug between Sheldon and Penny when she gave him Leonard Nimroy's napkin.

Awkward hugs are always amusing. My (deliberately childless) best friend gives my children the most glorious 'Sheldony' hugs when they launch themselves at her. A good friend should really tell her kids not to pounce on their poor ol' 'auntie', but her horrified reaction is just too funny! Imma bad (but thoroughly entertained) friend.

Now I want to see a hug between Sheldon and Beverly!!!
