I totally agree with your last sentence. In regards to the rest of your post, which I didn't quote isn't Amy supposed to be the one for Sheldon? IMO, it should've been Amy.

Yes Amy is his heart worm, they love each other, there's hand hold and hugging - even on hot days! BUT she is not his only friend. Nobody got bent out of shape about Leonard being the one to comfort Sheldon after Proton died and I see no difference between that and this tbh.

cut; that's just crazy talk. That would be like Richard Dean Anderson leaving SG-1. Wait, he did leave but that was to spend time with his daughter. Anyone can be replaced -- except perhaps Richard Dean Anderson.

Lenny to me was just off. It's Valentines Day, show it! Penny looked hot as usual but she came off to me like a bitch (sorry, just my opinion). I get she is disappointed in the wait at the restaurant, and is getting hungry and cranky, but cmon....from her opening scene she had a "F*** Off" sign on her forehead it seemed. I felt bad for Leonard frankly. Her interaction with the young bartender was funny, and I suppose it gave us a glimpse into maybe why Penny wasn't having a good VDay, but boo hoo, you're not 22 anymore, so let's crap on the evening...got a glimmer of fun Penny in the end when Lenny barges in on FWF in that silly scene, which I enjoyed. But then were right back to "piss off" when they kneel down to clean up the glitter. I'm wondering if Lenny even got laid that night, I'd put my money on the other two couples before I would on Lenny....I would've loved to have seen more fun between them tonight.

I liked Lenny's interaction, instead. They found a funny way to celebrate the occasion, the part when they entered the apartment was so hilarious! I mean, I get that it is VD, but if I had to wait for more than a hour in a crowded restaurant and I was starving, I'd be cranky too. VD doesn't mean to me that you have to put a smile on your face whatever happens. The scene in the car, after they ate something, was romantic. It's also an interesting POV, time is passing by, Penny is in early thirties and Leonard in his late thirties, they are growing up together but of course when you grow up there's also something you loose forever and maybe you can miss it. In this episode, they just regretted the "craziness" of the youth, it is VD so an occasion to be crazy and doing funny things. I'm looking forward to see if there is a follow-up. We already know that in the next episode they speak about some growing-up-people stuff, like having children, and they realize that are not ready for that just now (the final prank to Sheldon is an expression of that) but they know they will be sooner or later. I'm interested in seeing if this becomes a recurring theme for them in this final part of the season.

I loved the Cupid outfit glitter scene to be sure, but I just didn't get the same vibe with them that you did in the rest of the episode. I wish I did! To me it looked like Leonard was trying to make the best of it (unsuccessfully) and Penny was just content with pissing and moaning about it all, whether it was the screwed up reservations, educating Leonard on how to deal with it, unsuccessful flirting with the young host at the restaurant, fries tossed at her in the car, glitter tossed at her during Cupid--well, you get the point. I get she is feeling the pinch of being older, but isn't a birthday when that angst usually happens? VD is usually a time to celebrate being in love when you're a couple, no matter how old you are (it's not just reserved for the twenty something crowd, or high schoolers sendin $1 candy grams to each other in class).

I guess I'm just disappointed there didn't appear to be much fun in it for Penny, until maybe the end (and she is STILL left with that annoyed look). Oh well, like I said, I wished I took away the same vibe that you got from it, I like Lenny!

The episode was pretty good, but they really should have cut out all the Lenny scenes.

Completely pointless and in the end they ruin a cute Shamy moment. Otherwise it would have been a great episode.

Obvious bait you need to do better than that, needs to be more subtle

Predictable. Like Vasu bashing Leonard

Where does Raj go from here? He's seen that you can have chemistry with someone — will he have a newfound confidence or is it more instant regret?

It's going to be a mix. When you break up with somebody, it's easy to wonder very soon after, "What have I done?" But things settle down and maybe he will get a little confidence. I'd like to see him at some point rather than be just a serial monogamist that he's been, it could be fun to see him try and date multiple women at the same time and play the field, which is something I think he'd be interested in and also not well-equipped for.

WTF? serial monogamist?!

and Raj DID try to date two girls! He failed! ... Does he watch his own show? :icon_neutral:

Leonard and Penny are grappling with getting older. Where do they go after their reality check here? Could they move out on their own and maybe of the apartment building at some point?

There are no plans for them to leave that apartment anytime soon. That would be the kind of change where it could quickly start to not feel like the show.

This is exactly what I've been saying/worried about! :(

You're checking off major milestones for everyone here. What else is on your Bucket List for season nine?

I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the amount of big swings we've taken this season. I'm ready to let things settle down now and tuck in to some very fun, very Big Bang-y episodes.

I can't work out if he's ducking with us or not? :(

A general question, after seeing last night's episode, I didn't have the feeling Emily would be back - regardless of Steve's interview (a shame as I liked the character).  The question is why did they promote her to a regular status?  They have done short term promotions before with Sarah Gilbert and Kevin.  Is it a bump to their acting resume?  Do "regular" but still occasional cast get paid a different scale than "re-occurring" characters? Does being a series regular give you higher status with the professional groups?

Your last quote for me means that nothing else big plot wise  will happen until the season finale, with some possible cliffhangers. I know, I know...I hate the word "cliffhanger"! Anyway, if you think about Season 9, especially  in comparison with Season 8, there already have been a lot of twist in the story and many milestones have been achieved.  I'm not surprised if the writers slow down with other "important" stuff for a while, also because it seems likely that Season 10 will be not the last one. The only thing that bothers me is that a change in the living arrangements apparently seems far away, even if I have the tiny little hope\wishful thinking Molaro was speaking more about Lenny leaving the building (which frankly seems unrealistic to me) rather than 4A.

Yeah well I'm not expecting a Shamy engagement until the Season Final/their anniversary now anyway but I was hoping for Lenny out the door and across the hall :icon_neutral:

I think the "regular" are payed more than a general "recurring" character. As a counterpart, the show has an option on the actor and his\her possible schedule and his\her other projects. It's a way to be sure the actor will be available whenever needed. Maybe, TPTB decided to promote LS because she has also a recurring role in Bones and they wanted to have a sort of priority with respect to the other show. Anyway, it seems she will appear again this season, even if Molaro words didn't seem very encouraging  for the future of Rajily as a couple.

I thought the same thing, but the question is actually will they move out on their own and move out of the apartment building. That's not at all the same thing as moving out of 4A into 4B. I agree that having them move into another apartment away somewhere or into a house would change the feel of the show. So hopefully his answer doesn't mean anything about Lenny moving into 4B.

I agree. What he says sounds a lot like the usual vague ~I can't tell you anything so I'll just tell you we have nothing planned~ showrunner talk that's skirting the lines of not outright admitting that you're lying your ass of because of course you won't tell them the next big plot points right away. Just like with the Howardette baby now, when they get to Lenny moving into 4B and the reporters will chat with him like "well in Feb you said there was nothing planned, how come you do this now?" and he'll probably say something along the lines of "oh well we were writing that episode and just thought it was the right time!" Rinse and repeat for whatever other big plot point will await us in the future. lol

But this season hasn't been the best. The tag was terrible. Why wouldn't Lenny go to 4b instead of 4a?

Forget it....not worth it......why I even try

It looked to me as though if they'd burst into 4b shouting, ' Happy Valentine's Day ! ' there'd have been nobody to hear them or look at their costumes.

Where do you think they put on the costumes?  "Hey, I know!  Let's go across the hall and throw Valentine glitter and confetti on Sheldon and Amy!"

And maybe they got in a quickie while changing. After all, they're young and fun ;)

This is where I got lost in the Lenny storyline. I followed the restaurant, then to the car then what? I took it as they went to a party then showed up in 4a. I agree with Joyce that they had to burst into 4a and understand hokie's logic that they changed in 4b. For me it would have worked better if Leonard cleaned up and Penny went back ? Over to 4b.

One other comment. I'm not sure it was on this thread or another someone complaining that Lenny interrupted Shamy. Of course that poster apparently has " forgotten" how many times Sheldon has interrupted Lenny. LOL
