Well reading some Facebook comments and was surprised at the hostile backlash on the Howerdette pregnancy.

Apparently the anti-child faction has lost a role model, even going so far as to denigrate Bernadette as now just a "breeder" hell I didn't even know this was a thing :icon_rolleyes:

Oh yeah it is. Sad to say that there is less of teaching a woman (or a man) to be who THEY THEMSELVES want to be, and more of what the group that yells the loudest thinks they should be.

I know women who have gotten vilified because they chose to be stay at home moms.  And I was personally told that I wasn't a real woman because I didn't give birth to children.  I couldn't.  So yeah...

Well, I read also comments saying she doesn't deserve to have a baby because she didn't want them...To each their own, I guess. The main thing is that a baby may change the show so much, too much I dare say. In his interview about the event, Molaro was very quick in saying that the baby won't be due until some point (I guess, October?) in Season 10, that kids don't move so much until they are toddlers, so for another year after he\she is born we won't notice his\her presence (which of course can't be true, as whoever has a baby can tell), that nothing will change and that the remaining part of this season will not focus too much on Bernie's pregnancy. The most part of the backslash I saw was from fans who are saying that it was a buddy show and now it is becoming a family show. TBH, if one of the main couple was pregnant, I'd be kind of skeptical too. This will be really a huge change and I don't know how much I would have liked it. Being Howardette, I may agree that it can done in such a way to have a minor impact in the show, but it's still a change and I'm still not 100% confident the show can handle it well.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised some group or other will always latch on to a "role model' if they think it will help push thier cause and i guess everything is a cause to someone.

I apparently need to pay more attention to the lunatic fringe

Emma didn't ruin Friends

Mabel didn't ruin Mad About You

Nicky didn't ruin The Fresh Prince (Although they sure did age him quickly over 1 season for whatever reason!)

Frederick didn't ruin Cheers

Joey didn't ruin All In The Family

Little Ricky didn't ruin I Love Lucy

Adding Kids to a show is not always a death sentence.

It depends on the show. I didn't watch all those shows you mentioned but Emma didn't live in Monica's  or Joey's place, Frasier wasn't a main character the bar was the center of the show. I'm guessing the other shows were more family type shows unlike TBBT. I think if it had Penny being pregnant it would ruined the show since 4a and 4b are shown more on the show. I think Howdette living in a house can hide a kid easy enough.

I think that since Bernadette will give birth in season 10 and I can't imagine the show going beyond season 12 at the very most we will just look at a crib the few times this baby will be mentioned.

Season 12. Going beyond season 10 is scary enough.

Yeah it's definitely a dicey area introducing a baby into a show like this...they can probably get away with a year of "the baby is napping" or the little one is Bernie's parents for a visit/babysit. Maybe TPTB figure the show will definitely not go beyond season 10, maybe 11 max, so it's not a big deal in the end.

Has there ever been a stay at home Dad on a sitcom? I really hope they do this with Howard, and I hope they do it honestly, and don't shy away from the sheer tedium of parenthood. Also, with Howard's engineering skills, I'm looking forward to things like this.....

Damn TAAHM has really traumatised many people...I never watched so thankfully I avoided that particular piano as you say...

TAAHM has nothing to do with it it is strictly TBBT. Look at the history, 4x24 bad things happened, 8x24 bad things happened, 12x24 especially as a series finale is flirting with disaster that why I hope for 11 seasons and out
