Yes, absolutely it is. I take no issue with the idea that a Sheldon/Lesley pairing is ridiculous, nor that a Sheldon/Penny one is too come to that.

I take issue with the use of deflective methods being employed, that's all. If something matters enough to you that you feel you must express your opinion, then have the courage of your convictions when doing so without trying to worm out of it in the same post.

Oh, OK, yes, definitely, agree with you 100 %. Btw, I feel the exact same way about Shenny. It really does seem like a futile exercise in mental masturbation.

He hasn't had character in 9 years.

Well, let's not jump to conclusions here... He has shown on several occasions to be quite a douche.

So I marathoned from "...Helium..." to "... Earworm". It's not too bad, if you want to believe. Not 100% persuaded. Amy actually was sympathetic and human against whatever Sheldon is, but I can see what they did. It isn't that organic in my view, but regardless it worked. Dave was a treat. What was the line "... Lovely evening". Great guesting.

And ELON MUSK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We should all have genuflected. Did you all not know what he is on about? A-mazing what he has made happen.

If you haven't seen the new 30 second promo for next weeks episode. "But not your worst idea", lol....

Leonard says not your worst Idea to a vasectomy but didn't he say in the first episode of the show he said he wanted to have smart and beautiful babies with Penny just another example of the writers not following what happened in the early seasons

Yup! and I'm pretty sure at the end of this episode he and Penny talk about having kids. Sheldon has talked about having kids with Amy too so presumably another throw away joke line or the guys are in shock perhaps?

Well that was a set up joke. I dont think one throw away line means much 9 years later jmo.

Yea your right and the exact line Leonard said in the first episode is our babies will be smart and beautiful. This is just a way for the writers to get Leonard and Penny to start talking about having kids

They're just in mild shock in sympathy/empathy with Howard, seeing his panic. He's the one who's most openly wanted to be a dad since before he was married and now look at him - they don't want to feel like that. They've all talked about having children. It's a temporary reaction to what's being initially related to them as bad news, they don't mean it. What's the betting it will turn to good news soon and they'll all be happy ?

He and Penny do talk about it later in the show, and agree that they have to mature some before having any.

"Not your worst idea" does not really say much of anything and certainly is not the same as good idea.

A baby kills that. One becomes sleep deprived and cranky.

Yeah, when both in a relationship are sleep deprived and cranky, you don't feel young, fun isn't in the vocabulary, and there is a distinct lack of coitus.

You're kidding...right?

I don't see that as and example of inconsistent writing, TBH. If that was the case, all the episode would have been inconsistent, since Howard was even thinking about breaking up with Bernie before they got married over the fact she didn't want children and the whole episode is about him panicking about kids and Bernie being quite ok with that and Sheldon himself wanted "benign overlords" with Amy even before starting dating her. I think all of them were more or less in shock for the news (of course Howard more than the others) and in particular Leonard's line was just a joke, I didn't take it literally. It's pretty different to deal with "imaginary" kids (albeit smart and beautiful) and "real" ones, the guys reaction seemed very true to me. I guess my definition of "inconsistent" writing is stricter than the one the majority of you has. For me it's inconsistent to mess up with dates (like when Sheldon's dad was still alive when he was 15 and then dead when he was 14),  names (like Penny's father whose name changed at some point) or well established facts (like Penny not being able of making her own jewelry when she was able to make Penny's blossoms few seasons before). But that is just them dealing with the "reality" of the first kid in their group.

Agreed. It's one thing to project in your mind how raising a family would go, but when you're facing the reality that "hey, it's happening!" the mind races through all sorts of plots lol. As a young man I was excited but scared to death at the prospects of raising a child (and screwing up as a parent) when my first-born came along. He's 19 now and my youngest is almost 15, very proud of them, and I STILL get those doubts now and then.

Bernie I think was a bit of a realist and thus her hesitation about having kids. Having had to take care of her younger siblings grounded her a bit, but once she settled on having children she is probably the calmer of the two for that exact reason. Howard built it up in his mind, and how he's gonna right the fatherly "wrongs" with his own kid, and now that he's getting his wish it freaked him out. Be careful what you wish for Howard. In the end though his wife and friends help him through it. Love that.

I think the guys, and the whole vasectomy crack, was just a natural reaction to seeing one of their own facing that scary prospect. Being a parent is such a "grown up" thing, just like getting married but more so, and the guys seeing Howard freak out are naturally freaked out themselves. The guys know they haven't quite grown up and matured themselves and individually have things to work on, how could they possibly raise a child when they can't get their own lives on track? Howard says something like "I can't be a parent, I don't even eat my OWN vegetables!"....that says it all.

I am so very much looking forward to this episode!
