I think the show still has a lot of comic potentials left still and yes they are concentrating on weak writing exploring one character they are some much comedy to explore with the other characters this late in the series but why tptb doesn't want to go there is a mystery to me. We have had 2 seasons of Sheldon's growth and has been great for the character but it's getting boring and they need to move on to others things. People will not suddenly stop watching the show because every episode is not about Sheldon.

We need to consider the show is in his 9th season. It's difficult to keep the quality high for a lot of years. That's why the first seasons are way better. For the same reasons maybe it would be better for the show to end next season and not at a potential 11th season.

Sorry but I have to disagree. There is many shows which was at high standard very late in. Friends being it's example. Was it at it's highest towards the end? I wouldn't say, but it still had great deal of humor and quality. And that was a show about five completely ordinary people in completely ordinary places - recipe for boredom would be my first thought...and how that turned out. This is show about a people way beyond usual, working in fields that are far beyond interesting for viewers, and is offering endless opportunities storywise. IMO sad to say, writers just got lazy. This season is really, really weak in writing ad is just not using it's potential as it used to IMO. But I agree that with this pace, next season would be probably good year to finish at it's not maybe not best, but good at least.

Bbt started out as Leonard and Sheldon. So for me the 200th Leonard deserved attention too. Tptb created an ensemble piece as of 09 onwards. So don't go arms up in air. And lazily go milk the cashcow. I understand nostalgia. But the whole lacked balance. Watching s8. Chandler does not take over. Tptb respected the group. Its like When they decided on equal salaries. Or equal nominations. Im sorry the cast may see each other as family. But all tptb see is a mean kid sitting on his throne poking everyone lol.

Guys I understand that everyone has their preferences, of course. And I'd like to see more balance in the show as well between the characters but are you really surprised that the show focuses so much on Sheldon? Sheldon is the most popular character on the show, the medias wrote articles about him being the reason the show was so successful over the years. Jim Parsons won Emmy awards/ Golden globe etc for the show. And now with Bialik being nominated in recent years they're focusing on Shamy as well. It's all marketing. That's how tv producers think.

So an opinion is only valid if the media says it is? Are people not allowed to make thier own choices or are we only allowed to think what TPTB want us to?

I agree. Friends wasn't really good in the last 2 seasons as well but they knew when to stop. I hope BBT will do the same.

I don't know why he hasn't won anything, sadly I'm not givin' the awards :D.  Probably because a lot of "experts" think his character became less interesting when Bernadette was introduced and she was introduced a long time ago. I'd like more balance too on the show but I was just pointing out how  showrunners think most of the times.

And you are qualified to speak of how showrunners think? What shows have you run to speak as the voice of authority?

Are you talking about the Shenny hug on the last episode. I would be too since  Sheldon has never hugged Amy like that.

I think I was talking about how poorly they treated P/L's wedding. But not sure. I loved the hug. P and S have a cute friendship.

Why is this even an argument? Of course the show would be nothing without him because....Sheldon.

Shamy is also the NUMBER ONE ship. Let's just get this straight right now.

In your opinion and that's all it is an opinion, mine is that the show would be much better with less Sheldon and that Amy deserves an actual boyfriend instead of a reasonable facsimile

Actually Sheldon would be nothing without the other characters. Shamy being number one ship is nothing but opinion or preference. Technically Lenny is. As the show centres around them. Leonard's the social nuclues etc. Im.a Lp fan. And sp hug didn't piss me off lol. I thought it was sweet. I like their friendship. It's written so assexually. So its non threatening. More poed at fans twisting it into a romantic thing. When its unnecessary. But that's just me.

I am enjoying season 9 as much as any other. In some respects I think the show has improved.

I do like some aspects now Better then 1,2,3. Relationships settled etc. A more serialized show now. But overall the show has gone from light hearted and fluffy. An.escape from reality. To well real life. My life is stresful.enough. I.dont need it from a show I love too. Look all I need is no drama no oh they are dating. Oh look at how glacier progression. YOUR job is to be funny. Just sit their asses down and watch tv. Hell ill find ThAt alot more funny. Then Oh Leonard you still suck. Im Sheldon look at me me me me me me me ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!!!!! Oh hi im.Amy im the best you r gonna get. Omg Sheldon your so appealing. Im Raj lets see who I can be a douche to today. Omg shes pretty. Wait so is she but so is thosr hundred women. Omg I knw ill.date everyone!! Yay 100 ppts to Gryffindor. Im howard I just rock. No sarcasm hes the best :icon_cheesygrin:

Before I started posting here, I had been lurking for quite some time. I've noticed that some people have a hard time separating their biased opinion from facts (even though sometimes it's hard to tell which is which).

I really think that the 200th episode was overkill for Sheldon. Did I like it? Yes. Do I know it's unfair? Also yes. Same goes for Shamy. But I'm not complaining. ;)

IMO Lenny was the central couple in the first seasons, then Sheldon became the most popular character (plus Lenny got married and Amy became popular in her own right) and now it's Shamy. Simple as that. But, concentrating more on one couple is not the same as almost completely diminishing another. And really, if they don't want to concentrate on Howardette or Raj, FINE, but they SHOULD concentrate a bit on Lenny. They're two of the 3 protagonists. Their diminishing is apparent even to someone who doesn't give a f@ck about them (that would be me).

As others have said, the entire foundation of the show is Shelnard. The focus on the couples can change for various reasons but the core of the show never will. Some people will like the change, some people won't, depending on their preferences.

Also, just because Amy is a secondary character that doesn't mean that she's not important. It's not even nescecerily (sp?) about character preference, it's plain WEIRD that the word "father/dad/daddy" has never come out of her mouth (I think this is a product of her being treated as a prop). It's OK to say "personally, I couldn't care less" but it's a FACT we should get something more from her as far as her family is concerned.

Amy sometimes has been treated as a prop (which is not fair to her character), sometimes she hasn't. It's better for the show when she's not. Why is it OK to see Howard's father on the show but somehow seeing Amy's father for just an episode or hearing a word or two about him will make her character more than it is? We've seen Bernadette's father multiple times and he even interacted with Howard...alone. Is it because some people are afraid it's going to turn into another Shamy episode? This is just another case of bias from people who aren't currently satisfied with the show.

hehe that reminded me of a movie called "From Five to Eight." The movie that all purpose was to show a ordinary day of ordinary man from 5 AM to 8 PM. Literally nothing happened.  Two hours I'll never get back.  Since that there's one thing I'm sure, real life, has no place on television :icon_cheesygrin: Anyway yep, I couldn't agree more. Everybody I guess has enough of real life in real life. Isn't it weird like now, traditional sitcoms, or anything that's sole purpose is just to have fun is now considered as something of less worth? Just look how often sitcoms even get nomination to respected awards, and what chances they usually have, and then look at the "comedies" of OITNB type. Baffling. Maybe TBBT decided to "go with the flow."

There was also mention of the newly hypothesized planet 9.

"... point given Howard in season one? If I better understood what I was in for I would have been scared silly.

I really liked the reference to the new hypothetical planet 9. ("

Bob Newhart was great in Force Awakens episode.
