Never thought I'd miss the Relationship Agreement, but if they still had it, Amy could petition for more coitus and come to a more reasonable amount with Sheldon.  I think he would feel more in control if it was planned out, and he would thus enjoy it more.

Hmmm. Yes ! He's a Texan. Somewhere in his mind is the concept that it's the man who takes charge of certain things. This comes out noticeably when he's had a drop or two but it's there all the time. He was the one who decided what he was going to offer Amy as a  birthday activity. He asked her to confirm consent, making it clear he was the initiator. Feeling in control is important to him in all aspects of his life. Perhaps if on her next birthday Amy asked for a revision of the R A while leading him to think it was his idea to suggest more coitus events, that would do the trick.

From TVLine: http://tvline.com/2016/03/02/once-upon-a-time-spoilers-season-6-mufasa-scar/

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Bates Motel, Once, S.H.I.E.L.D., The 100, Big Bang, NCIS, Nashville, Castle and More!

Question: Can I have some The Big Bang Theory scoop, please? —Aleksandra
Ausiello: Sheldon and Amy’s sex life has cooled off considerably since they’reinaugural love-making session in December. “Sheldon made it pretty clear that this would be an annual event on her birthday,” explains showrunner Steve Molaro. “I don’t know what the future holds, but so far, he’s been sticking to that.” BONUS SCOOP: Howard and Bernadette’s baby-making mojo will not rub off on Leonard and Penny, confirms Molaro, who says the newlyweds are in “no rush” to start a family. Coincidentally, Molaro is in no rush for them to start a family either. “Realistically, if Penny and Leonard had a baby,” he says, “that baby would start to alter the DNA of the show a lot more dramatically than Howard and Bernadette’s.”

Is it just me or is this exactly what he said in the Hollywood report (or glamour?) a few weeks back re-hashed? :icon_neutral:

I guess they have an "official" version of "whatever looks like a spoiler but indeed it's not" to share with the press and they stick on that, LOL!! Anyway, I think you are right, he said something like that in the interviews back in December about 9x11. Fun fact, he used  the "a baby would start to alter the DNA of the show" line and, just three\four weeks later, Bernie was pregnant. But of course, he was referring, as he has explained now, just to a Lenny's baby, come on...wasn't that obvious? The part about Sheldon instead is the same word by word. But I don't think the journalist has used old statements, it's just Molaro that doesn't like changes!

No difference between this and a sitcom like Friends nowadays. Of course just my opinion.

Funny, there is a lot of talk about friends in this forum. They are not similar from my point of view.

The following would not be on friends:

Hey, Raj, I read a couple guys in your department may have discovered a new planet in our solar system?

Oh, I heard about that.

Why didn't you discover it?

Because instead of being in the telescope room, I was busy making you guys homemade jam for the holidays.

Well, you be sure to let us know when you win the Nobel Prize for boysenberry.

I think it's safe to say that this is the most successful / most popular sitcom since friends though isn't it? I'm guessing that is why the comparison is being made :)

The channel that used to show Friends a zillion times a day here replaced it a few years back and now shows Big Bang instead :superman:

Basically saying nothing new really.   I hope they don't hold to the "once a year on Amy's birthday" rule.  That would be the stupidest thing ever.

I doubt tptb will do the once a year coitus thing myself. They've done the impossible and upped the ante after the (much anticipated) event, now they have to sustain (and build) it for as long as they can. Keeping to Sheldon's schedule removes the element of surprise, and I truly do think these writers have it in them to pull another blinder out of their bag of tricks.  Lightning can strike twice....a third time, hmm.....now that'd really be something. My guess would be to expect the unexpected, afterall, no-one here called the Shamy coitus accurately, I doubt the writers will actually do what they've told the viewers they're going to do, where's the fun in that?

My speculation is that while they may push harder on the nookie (and why shouldn't people want to vicariously enjoy people enjoying themselves?), they will also push harder in the other direction. I'm sure the hoarder thing will be a one-shot deal and the nookie won't, still I think they will do more to make everyone wonder why Amy is expending the energy. And it probably will continue with her making the efforts to accomodate Sheldon's very reasonable (as he sees it), yet still huge, needs

Where it may become challenging to think about is if nookie becomes the reward for her tolerance. That's possibly part of my unease with this part of the premise... that he is the best boyfriend Amy can get and he is worthy of her prolonged sufferances. She has chased the carrot dangled by TPTB for a long time. Conversely, what is up with her, that she unflaggingly believed his carrot is the only one worth having.

Sigh... It's been a long nine years.

Well, they've done the gift thang, I can't see them going there again. As a one-off it was a means to an end but I think that idea will get old real quick. Something will come up (pun totally intended) that works for them both I believe. Amy is not your standard type of gal and I hope the writers fully embrace all the possibilities her character offers and run with them.

Shes a supporting character. So they prob won't explore much. They already Said Howard or Leonard's father well appear. I just think.they well focus on the Main characters. Too little time to expand beyond that.

Tbbt may have a ton of dissimilarities with Friends. But one would be blind to not see the similarities too with Friends.  Just saying. Like the living dynamics.

I meant that it's likely that Amy will be on-board with whatever (weird sh!t) works for Sheldon, that's all. I too doubt her character will run the storyline.

Is carrot a euphemism? :icon_biggrin:

it's a vegetable. Use it as you will. :) but in this case "carrot and stick" was the reward system to which I was referring. So maybe there is a literal representation of a metaphoric carrot. The metaphoric sticK might be on the obverse, stuck somewhere around Sheldon's person.

...flounders off

But it would be totally in charecter for Sheldon. Despite fanfic and shamy thread dreams that's just the way Sheldon is, not really caring about sex that much. It really was just a gift for Amy not the start of a torrid affair

Somehow this makes sense. I dont know if thats the route they are going but, it makes some sense to me... I find myself actually quite ok with the "birthday special" treatment, think is an ok balance (for now) between the "why on earth would we have sex?!" Sheldon and the sheldon of this season... I dont know it just makes sense in my head. Is clear by now these characters dont act in the way we think would be more logical for them to act lol and yes, its been some long nine years indeed.

Well considering how often HE'S the one that mentioned sex (even more so than Amy) in the last 5 years, it really doesn't make sense.  Top that with the "I enjoyed that more than I thought I would" line and the fact that everything that comes out of Molaros mouth ends up being the opposite of what actually happens.....well....

Apparently if we trust Molaro's words they chose the route of sex as a gift for Amy, they're treating it like a work he needs to do once a year but it's quite insulting for the characters. It puts Amy in a terrible position. I personally wouldn't want to mentally force my boyfriend to have sex with me just because he thinks it's important for me (but really not much for him).

Sheldon hardly mentioned sex at all. But referencing it as a possibility. Or scared of the notion. Doesn't mean he thinks about it. How many times did Amy subtlety referenced Her frustration over Wanting a physical relationship from Sheldon? AND Sheldon absolutely clueless? So that makes sense to me. He enjoyed it. But it felt like a special occasion to me. Like the couples kissing. They seem to.reserve these moments for special occasions. I kinda like it that way
