Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk I think they will do a Season 11 at the very least. After that who knows, the show appears to be still very popular and it must be making the companies involved a lot of money. All depends if the actors want to do more, if one decides they don't then that's probably it. I think the writers could keep it going for a good while yet with a lot of material out there to work with. At least he could call the smoking monkey an ass, and it wasn't a series regular. That won't be true of a Howardette baby. Sheldon can't insult a baby without upsetting lots of people. Lady in Red
Every interview that I've seen indicates that the actors know they have a good thing, something most actors never have in an entire career, and that they enjoy their work and want to continue. I'm certainly hoping for an 11th season, and beyond...
Tenji
200th episode is on next week in the UK. Seems there is a special behind the scenes show on before the episode airs. Did this air in the states?

Tensor
I'd say a season 11 is a certainty, based on reports of an option year on their contracts, back when they negotiated their new contracts last year and the year before when Mayim and Melissa renegotiated their renegotiated contracts. There are many variables after season 11: Does it still have the relative ratings? Look at how Glee crashed after getting a two year renewal. It ended it's run getting burned off on Saturday night. Is CBS willing to continue to pay the salaries? In most cases the network pays a large portion, if not all, of the salaries along with the license fee. If the ratings fall, even in line with general decline in broadcast viewing, can they continue to afford to pay both or either? However, there could be an out... Is Warner Brothers willing to reduce the license fee and give a bigger cut to the actors instead of salary. At this point, any episode is just about pure profit to Warner Brothers(they have the set, CBS pays a large portion of the actors salaries, etc). If they can give a larger cut of syndication rights (reports indicate Johnny, Kaley, and Jim are getting 1.25 points; and Kunal and Simon are getting a half to three quarters point) to the actors ( and if they do get a bigger cut I would assume Melissa and Mayim would then get some amount of back end also), this would reduce the amount paid to the actors by CBS. Along with a smaller license fee, might convince CBS that it is worth it to continue. Are the actors willing to continue? I haven't seen one actor say they are not interested in continuing. This doesn't mean they are saying the same thing privately. Or, if they all do continue, if all of them will want to continue for the same amount of additional seasons. My best guess, based on current ratings and reported payroll, and comments by the cast, is there should be a season 12, with a final season 13, with a reduced number of episodes, to reduce costs. They're may even be buyouts options in the contracts, if the ratings fall dramatically, like Glee's did.

Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk I think season 11 was a pre-negotiated option and if that is the case, all they would have to do would be have the companies lawyers notify the actors lawyers that the option is being exercised for season 11 to be a go and everyone show up to work for the season. That is a simple explanation but what it means is we the fans would not have to hold our breath to see if the actors sign a new contract, that would come if there was a season 12. I think the 11th season is already in the contracts of the top three as an option for CBS/WB or whoever, as part of the agreement for their salary increases--"We'll give you 1mil if you agree to the possibility of an 11th season", or something like that. So I don't think Jim, Kaley, and Johnny would be able to ask for more money. I don't remember about Simon and Kunal, if that 11th season option was already included. Since Mayim and Melissa signed their contracts earlier, that option wasn't included, so for them, no matter what, they would have to negotiate an 11th season, if for no other reason than to agree to do it, pay raise or no. CBS wants the ratings at least partly because of the ad revenue such numbers can generate. Even if TBBT isn't at the peak it was at before, it's still beating out every other comedy in ratings. Advertisers want their products in front of as many eyeballs as possible, so they'll pay to get their ads in there, which makes more money for CBS. And it may also depend on whether or not CBS can come up with a new show they feel could eventually take the place of TBBT. But it would have pretty big shoes to fill and need to show very heavy promise pretty quickly. I think there will be a season 11, barring some radical problem next season. After that, though, I don't know if they'd try to go to 12. That would probably take some major negotiations.

I mean, there are usually comments all over and entertainment outlets fighting to talk about the final episodes of the favorite shows. No. There's no way they could get so many people to not talk about the show. There's never any kind of non-disclosure request or anything. I think that they have often said that what people talk about after seeing the taping isn't necessarily what's going to end up onscreen after editing, so only the finished show that actually airs is the "real" episode. But if there's something they really want to keep a secret, they just have to tape it on Monday and not show it in the sequence the audience watches (live scenes mixed in with pretaped scenes.) Like Penny's "I wish you weren't going" comment after Leonard and the guys left for the North Pole. Apparently that moment wasn't shown to the audience, and only inserted in editing. I do remember reading the taping report for The Good Guy Fluctuation over on another site and the person writing the report said that she wasn't going to spoil the very last moment because it was such a good surprise--the moment where Sheldon pops out of the couch and says, "Bazinga, punk! Now we're even!" But that was simply her choice, not anything that was asked at the taping.
