I dunno, looks like a very Sheldon thing to do. I'm not surprised.

Well it may be a very Sheldon thing to do "before" the breakup, but he supposedly was supposed to learn something from it and while he may still be selfish and all, he was supposed to realize how much Amy meant to him and start putting her first.   What makes me mad is that she evidently is okay with the hired Stuart spending time with her and it appears isn't too mad at him if that is the case.   That is very annoying to me....back to being a doormat and him just being selfish.   Maybe the writers want us so mad and want us to want them to break up so they can put Penny and Sheldon together since that seems to be all the seem to care about lately.

We don't even know if Amy is okay with it. Let's just wait and see until we have more information.

This is fascinating...a bunch of pictures appear and suddenly....Sheldon is  jerk and Amy is a doormat...it's the end of the world as we know it.  Because pictures and a press release tell the whole story?  Nope....but don't mind me, continue with the wild speculation....it is what we do best....lol.

If that is the case, I would be furious if I were Amy.   How cheeky of Sheldon to do that if that is the case.   I am surprised she didn't break up with him again after such a maneuver.  Says to me that he didn't learn a thing from the breakup earlier this season if that is the case.

I also don't understand why suddenly Penny is struggling to connect with Beverly.  Beverly and Penny have always gotten along before now suddenly she is struggling?   Really odd.

Agree in that case.  I thought he was hiring Stuart to stand in line for him not spend the day with Amy for him.   So yes...agree with you on that and it tells me that Sheldon learned NOTHING from the breakup.   So this whole first half of the season was for nothing.

I was just guessing at something like a date night obligation--something where for some reason there's a conflict between what he wants and what Amy needs or wants.  Since we don't know anything about how it all plays out, there's no way to judge it.  Maybe she does get mad and drives Stuart to the theater to read Sheldon the riot act.

I'm just going by what evidence we have, not by supposed motives or ideas or whatever.

As for Penny and Beverly, I think they've managed to find some common ground, but Beverly isn't the warm MIL that Penny seems to kind of want (tried to hug her last time she was there and Bev still resisted, etc.) and even if they went out drinking that one time and can be civil with each other, I think Penny will always feel that she's not the sort of wife Beverly might have wanted.  She's not educated, she's not "brilliant" in the academic way of Bev's other children and their spouses.  Why wouldn't she feel uncomfortable at least to some degree.  And if Beverly mentions that she now feels disappointed in not being able to attend their wedding, Penny may feel bad trying to justify it all, etc.

I think it's really not a great idea to try to justify everything based on summaries when we don't really know how the dialog and action plays out.

They both learned NOTHING if that's the case. Sheldon still puts himself the first and Amy still doesn't accept Sheldon for everything he is. It's like girl you either accept the fact that your boyfriend is never gonna be a normal guy or you just break up for good. What's the point of having similar arguments every week? No, he'll not go to the wine tasting party with you and no, he wants to wait in line for the movie. Get over it gosh...

And Sheldon... If you don't want to spend time with Amy, just say so. Hiring Stuart to spend time with your girlfriend? Seriously? Even Season 7 Sheldon is better than that.

Paragraph 1- you seemed shocked

Paragraph 2- The first time they met Bev made Penny cried. Second time she told Leonard to make sure she's not in charge of her own orgasms since she only a waitress. They haven't always gotten along.

paragraph 3- again you seemed shocked

I have no idea what they’re planning for the finale, but I gotta admit I’m anxious about the lead up. Clear tension between Penny and Leonard.  Potentially, the kind of selfishness that brought about the Amy and Sheldon split in the first place. Renewed focus in the last few episodes about the closeness between Sheldon and Penny. It could all be heading towards a necessary shake up of the living situation and conversations that have needed to happen years ago … or it could be leading nowhere good at all. I know things have been really lovely for most of the season between Sheldon & Amy, but that also has the worrying effect of seriously raising the stakes should anything happen between them.

There are only a couple of directions they could take that would have me tune out for good. I’m really really hoping that those directions aren’t taken … or honestly even implied. I’m all for shake ups … they’re what keep things watchable and interesting … as long as those shakeups don’t ruin the characters and relationships permanently (for me anyway). I do feel like the writers have been flirting with that line, particularly in the back half of this season. If they go there, I guess there’s always the bright side … I’ll be procrastinating a lot less on the forums. Here’s hoping for continued procrastination and positive developments.

***Cue necessary disclaimer about jumping to extreme conclusions based on crumbs.

Penny is wearing sleep clothes but Leonard is not? I guess not all of them have changed their clothes yet.

I think the picture is from last weeks taping...

Kaley's PJ's, Simon and Kunal's clothes are the same as the pictures that were just released.

seeing those pics, wonder if Penny is being school by Sheldon to impress Bev, so it may be in the beginning of the episode

Possibly...but kind of odd that Penny is holding up celebrity photos...so not so sure about that.  It looks like S/P are playing a game with someone else in the room, but unclear if it is Leonard or who since they are out of frame.

Isn't that Khloe Kardashian in the photo Penny is holding? Maybe it really is a game. Penny is trying to teach Sheldon the ways of the Kardashian Klan :D

You could be right because the writers like to reuse stuff they think is funny and this would be similar to what happened in the Physics Bowl episode.

 The Kardashians...LOL

From The Relationship Diremption (7x20)

Penny: Wait. What’s wrong with geology?

Sheldon: Let me put this in a way you’ll understand, Penny. You remember how you explained to me that the Kardashians aren’t real celebrities? Well, geology is the Kardashians of science.

Just watched a Periscope video on Twitter from someone going into the taping.  Fascinating.  Several empty cast parking places along side Stage 25 (including Jim's) making me think that some of them either car-pooled or got rides to the studio today as maybe their SO's might be attending the taping this evening.

Kunal's car taking up to spaces made me laugh, took me back to the story from the casts Conan appearance.

yeah i noticed his questionnable parking skills too when i saw 9.20 taped...I peeked inside while going in and he had a large fastfood drink still in the cupholder and wrappers on the floor lol....lifestyles of the rich and famous!

Amy should've just waited in line with Sheldon if she wants quality time.

When is she going to grow out of her modern patriarchal relationship fantasy stereotypes? This isn't what Amy was like when they first met, somewhere down the line the writers got lazy and made part of her personality a nag (because girls aren't allowed to be quirky all the time I guess?). It didn't get as extreme as Bernadette thanks to Mayim's acting ability, but it's obviously getting just as repetitive as all the other show's dynamics. The characters learn a lesson and then regress ad nauseum.

Agreed.  Amy is re-enforcing old fashioned  patriarchal relationship fantasy stereotypes. She needs to be geeky and quirky again. Not as extreme as bernadette but still, Amy is too serious and normal now. I was hoping she would be in line with Sheldon and atleast one girl would be geeky enough to sometimes have fun like the guys and join them in their hobbies. But NO.

“The Line Substitution Solution” – Sheldon hires Stuart to spend the day with Amy when he’d rather go to a movie screening.

What the hell... Why can't Amy just spend the day with the girls... It's like she no longer has a life other than Sheldon nowadays.

Or maybe Amy could spend the day with the guys and stand in the line? Have fun ? Be geeky again ? .

The whole "Women can only hang out with women and drink wine"  is patriarchal and totally regressive like its 1950. LOL. Not that I expected anything better from TBBT, but still.....the hope is always there :icon_cheesygrin:

I think the situation depends on what the plot is exactly. If Sheldon tells Amy that he'd rather go to the movie and Amy doesn't let him. The blame is more on Amy. But if Sheldon just hires Stuart to go on a date on date night without even telling Amy beforehand, like Stuart just shows up at the door and Amy's like "What are you doing here?" (which is more likely the case, because well, the writers find this kind of Sheldon funny)...I don't know what to say...
