Irony . Penny gets 2 weddings and Bernie is pregnant(she didn't even want kids !!!!!) .

Yet, Amy who was the only one of the girls to explicitely describe  her dream wedding on screen and many times talked about kids with Sheldon,  gets nothing. Only time writers  focus on Shamy is when they are fighting. And they constantly blocked Sheldon's attempts to propose.

Bernie never categorically ruled out kids.

What is the dream wedding Amy described?

Also shamy had plenty of focus this season that didn't involve fighting, like having sex.

Not saying, its always on her mind , but the way they have changed Amy-she seems like the most traditional one so it would be more in character for her to get a romantic wedding arc. Don't know what to expect anymore.

She talked about kids just once in 4.1 (well, Sheldon said they talked about kids, as he mentioned her eggs in Season 9 premiere, she didn't mention kids even on that occasion...) and she described once, in Season 5 finale, her "perfect day" ...as a Maid of Honor. I agree that she is the most likely to love a traditional wedding one day, but let's not act like she is speaking about family and children all the time; that's not in the show at all.

I really wanted a CalTech ceremony. Bummed. TBBT has turned into a Chick Flick since season 7 and no one complains. And I wouldn't mind the chick flick aspect but  the writers aren't doing the couples/romantic storylines any favors either.

My wish for the  Series  finale for TBBT - Sheldon, Leonard and Howard winning a Nobel Prize(Sounds farfetched but still.....:icon_biggrin:)

  1. TBBT does not come across as a chick flick to me even if the forum sometimes sounds like it is discussing one.
  2. Few people actually get a Nobel.

Have a look at https://hoponacomet.wordpress.com/category/media/television/the-big-bang-theory-show/

I said wining a Nobel prize would be 'far fetched' . I want that to happen, not that it WILL happen.  I wasn't predicting anything.

Any one here familiar with P=NP problem in mathematics ? I bet if Sheldon or Leonard solve that, they could win a Nobel or some major prize.

And yes, TBBT  is a totally like a chick flick now. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But I am not pretending like it is not.

All of them?  The bachelor party episode, the spockumentary, and shamys first night; rank among the best episodes IMO.

There is no Nobel Prize for Mathematics (apparently, but it's just an urban legend, because Nobel's wife had an affair with a Mathematician and so Nobel left out Mathematics from the fields to be awarded...). The Nobel equivalent for Mathematics it's called Fields Medal and has different rules than Nobel Prizes. Leonard and Sheldon, depending on their age, might even not be eligible anymore for that prize, because it is given every four years and you have to be at most 40 to win it.  I hope somebody will solve P=NP problem someday, but I'm sure the show will not give Sheldon or Leonard credit for some RL achievement...IMO the writers will never claim somebody in the show has solved something people is really working on, if and when they win the Nobel (or an equivalent award) it will be for something fully made up, maybe for their super fluid theory, or stuff like that.

1. Really, then why bother watching when all the episodes are crap?  Also I remember you praising this year's valentines episode.

2.  That's nice, I disagree with your disagreement.

If you want my opinion season 9 is better than season 8 because in the 9 season it has been an evolution and many episodes very beautiful!

Thank you for the report, stardustmelody!

I may be the only one who sort of likes the finale. Well, with the emphasis on "sort of".

1) There was not much drama.
2) The writers kind of/sort of addressed the... uhm... flaws with the "original" Lenny wedding, and there was a re do, albeit mostly off screen.
3) There was a science related plot, for once, and boys making progress in their careers.
4) No cliffhanger. No cliffhanger. No cliffhanger.

As for the bad things... pretty much everything else.

Living arrangements not addressed, pointless Mary/Alfred hookup, barely any Sheldon and Amy, science related plot tainted by cowardice and childlish paranoia...

(By the way, wowbagger's comment about vignettes reminded me of "Aeon Flux", and made me wonder how on Earth that cartoon [and the live-action movie] hasn't been mentioned on "The Big Bang Theory" yet... I'm sure that Early Howard would have been the fan.)

Does the finale sound great? Not really. But it was better than season seven and season eight finales. And this time, unsatisfying finale may not equal an unsatisfying next season premiere.

As for Sheldon and Amy, I'll have no problem with them actually having children or even just getting married until the series finale, because that way, nothing (well, not everything) will, to quote Amy, "crap out". There will actually be a big event for the final episode, maybe featuring two characters mainly but pretty much involving all of the other characters, and the writers won't need to add drama. Or much drama. Because, with all the couples married and some even having children by the series finale, the only way to make a finale an "outstanding" episode, something memorable (which doesn't equal good, but still), would be to ad drama, or pull out some bs plot twist, or, the worst of all, centering it around Raj.

There is nothing wrong with that except it is not true. Sheldon hires Stewart to go shopping with his girlfriend. Penny and Leonard are still living with Sheldon after they are married. The male leads are not typical leads of a chick flick. I don't think seasons 7, 8 and 9 are specifically designed to appeal to women. Perhaps some effort has been made to make TBBT appealing to a female audience but they are still attempting to appeal to a male audience too.

It has been an evolution of characters and situations.it s clear that the writers want to have time to create powerful milestones in season 10 and the other season and they don t want to tell in the end of season 9!

It is possible, but to be frank, I suspect Christine will be snatched up right away now that she is available.   She is a very popular actress and can do both comedy and drama equally well.  I suspect that she will not remain unemployed long.   I am betting that she already has a lot of projects that want her and she is having to look through and see if any interest her.   I know she wants time off for the summer to enjoy her time off, but by Fall I would be stunned if she was still available.   I know there have been rumors that they may do a spin-off of The Good Wife with her....and that would not surprise me at all.

Even if she is if the writers know in advance that they need the guest stars back for the re-do ceremony in 10x01 then I'm sure they'll be able to work out a schedule that fits all of them. It's just question of planning it well.

But of course if everything fails they can just have a time jump and leave it all off screen, so who knows.

No cliff hanger.  Not a big loss. Sheldon didn't propose to Amy. Unless they filmed that separately and will show it on the finale. What do you think?

First of all thanks for the taping reports to those that went, greatly appreciated as always especially from a Brit that will have to wait a while to actually see these episodes in full.

Sounds like the finale was less drama more comedy which makes a change after last season's heartbreaking finale. Like some pointed out with 3 big guest stars perhaps they would be the ones to dominate the story narrative and by the sounds of it that largely happened.

Major Kudos to the poster/s that raised the possibility of Sheldon's mother and Leonard's dad hooking up, I admit I laughed at the time but it turns out they were a bit of a Nostradamus. I don't think Leonard and Sheldon will become step brothers, but its funny that their parents had a fling. They are already kind of brothers in a way as they are close and deep down do care about each other despite at times driving each other mad and fighting as Leonard pointed out during the toasts at Sheldon's birthday.

If you are a Shamy fan or a Lenny fan you have to be pretty happy that there was no drama. Would we have liked to see perhaps more resolutions to some of their story arcs like a proposal, more signs of intimacy between Shamy, a proper re-do of the Lenny wedding which they deserve or a resolution to the living arrangements then I think the answers are yes but it could have been worse.

They could have easily added drama to the final episode of the season but they didn't, Shamy and Lenny both seem to be going strong into what could be a potentially big Season 10 for all involved.

Can't wait to see Howard's reaction when he thinks the government is after him. It sounds absolutely freaking hilarious from the taping report especially with Raj's reaction as well as Bernie's. Can I say that I think the writing in this season for Howard has been pretty good and the acting superb. Looking forward to seeing how they deal with the Bernadette pregnancy and Howard's insecurities because of what happened with his father.

Raj well what can I say, Raj caring for his friends and being outrageous is what I like about him it's only the womanizing stuff I have a major problem with. Interesting that they decided not to resolve it this season, maybe they are going to save his 'reckoning' for Season 10 instead.

Overall I did enjoy Season 10, perhaps it wasn't as strong as some previous seasons but I think that was because there just so much drama and angst this season and felt perhaps more heavy than we are used to. The characters overall seem to be in a better place going into Season 10 than they were going into Season 9 so maybe  it will be a bit lighter with perhaps a little bit more comedy and hopefully some more science!

I think we will have a Season 11 so maybe they will slow down the drama a bit and there won't be a rush to resolve everything outstanding.

The only thing I've read so far (and I'm not sure if it's confirmed) is that Leonard's dad and Mary hook up!

We nailed that!!!!

Also to add/follow up on the summary, I don't know if there was an "off camera redo wedding" or just dinner celebrating the wedding, they talked about a ceremony in the beginning but if you follow the timeline in the rest of the episode, it seems like they went right to the dinner reservations from the apartment.

Also the government/Air Force is just inquiring about the project, and raj thinks it's to give them money, but Howard is paranoid they want to take over the project and they will "get him" if he doesn't allow them

Thank you very much for the spoilers :shy:. Really appreciate it. Sounds like a fun episode.

Do you know if Howard managed to get in touch with the government or did the government get in touch with him at the end ?

He got pulled over for driving crazy when L/P was following them.  The government is not following them.  Paranoia...........

A question for those that went to the taping, what was the relationship like between Leonard and his dad? Frosty? Good? Something in between?

We didn't know much at all just that he was away a lot when Leonard was growing up prior to this episode.
