Look, I am not bothered by the Shenny kiss other than the fact that I never thought the show would lower itself to this kind of fanservice. But, whatever, you know. It's not something that has an impact on the story.

What I find off-putting from my perspective is that I did not enjoy Shamy for their romantic drama or to follow some story about Sheldon growing into "a man" and losing his V-card. That's not what drew me through them, and while I am find with arguments and spats here and there, this is going overboard. I would have much preferred to have Shamy stay platonic friends forever than this. Because the primary reason why I watched them was to see them be silly weirdos against the world. That's what I mean when I say that I have no interest in where this seems to be going. And it's setting up the story once again in a way where Sheldon is a callous, obnoxious jerk and Amy is the patient saint that we all wonder how she can restrain herself from throttling him. Seen over and over again in S6 and 7 and now it's rinse and repeat just on a bigger scale. Nothing new interesting or exciting is coming out of this for me, it's the same stuff we have seen countless times before. And before someone lectures me on "how do you expect Sheldon to react! of course this is what he would do!", all I have to say is that while I don't think this is OOC for Sheldon at all, I also think the show had shown him capable of maturity especially in S8. And Molaro waxed poetic for months about this supposed maturity. One episode of Sheldon lashing out is fine. Two is starting to get pointless and repetitive if it weren't for the fact that the point is that they are levelling down Shamy to the ground for good now so they can drag it out for who knows how long. This serves the purpose of getting people to side with Amy even more, whereas in the finale you could side with both, and potentially support whatever new love interest they might bring on for her during the season if they don't know what to write for her.

I kept an open mind for the first two taping reports, but I think I'm now just going to call it quits. If it then turns out that they get things back on track (and by back on track I don't mean that they reconcile - I know they will eventually - I mean that they have them handle this in their own quirky way and not drag it out too long), I'll come back. But at least if this never recovers I won't have invested precious time and lost sleep over it.

What makes you think this is about Sheldon "losing his v-card" or that just because they're quirky characters that they would somehow be exempt from relationship issues?  And why should it take only one or two episodes for them to resolve it?

Even handling it "in their own quirky way" doesn't mean that it wouldn't take them a while to figure it out.  Maybe it would take even longer, because part of that quirkiness is how Sheldon processes things.

And just because this is taken a few episodes doesn't mean that Sheldon doesn't grow and mature in this.  Yeah, he's not starting out well, but if he's hurt and angry, he's not going to be doing his most mature thinking.  If he feels blindsided by the breakup, then again, he's not going to just say, "Aha!  I see what Amy's talking about!" and just call up and apologize.

I don't know at this point whether it's going to be another case of Saint Amy, or not, but nevertheless, Sheldon usually is the one who has the bigger learning curve to negotiate.

I'm sorry Phanta, you know I like you and we go way back, but if you don't think this is patronizing to just sum someone complains up with "only want roses and fairies", I don't know what it is. Because people have given valid reasons for months about why they prefer A over B and so on. For the 100th time, nobody is questioning anybody's endgame! But just because a book has twists and turns it doesn't mean ALL twists and turns are good or that EVERYONE will like all twists and turns. Why can't we focus on discussing the episodes instead of telling people how to feel, how to react, what to like, what not to like, and when they are allowed to be happy or fed up?

Because so many people don't want to talk about the episode, but would rather talk about how terrible the show is because they do a particular kind of story, or because the episode is not what they want it to be, even if they know it's only part if the story.

I for one well forget the cold open exists. Rest of ep sounds aight, Lenny sound the best part of the ep. Why dream about that though, hes never seen.Sheldon as a threat, he asked him  to look after her for four months. It makes no sense, but then again nothing does in show atm.

Thanks Kazzie.

I have just one technical question. Did you get the feeling the next ep would once again pick up from where we left off? Because 4 eps in a row on the same topic and with only a day apart in between each is quite unheard of for this show.

It makes me think it's about Sheldon losing his v-card because unless one hides their head in the sand it's been the issue that's on everyone's mind since forever. It's the stuff the writers have struggled with the most, the stuff that polarizes the audience the most, the stuff that the media cares the most about and so on. I don't understand what is so surprising about a show, which is a business at the end of the day, trying to milk out what they think is their punch for as long as humanly possible and resort to stalling tactics (i.e. breakups) in order to do so. It's TV 101. You can't honestly tell me that TV writers are all artists of the utmost integrity and only make decisions based on what makes sense for the story without money and ratings coming into play?

I have NEVER said they should be exempt from relationship issues. I have enjoyed seeing them navigate relationship issues in the past (as long as the writing isn't too mean spirited, IMO, towards one or the other character). Like I said last week though, and I think I explained my reasoning plenty, I have huge issues with how breakups are used and depicted in television, I think they are used with every single couple under the sun, and therefore very unoriginal, let alone "quirky". And it's not all about Sheldon. I personally got into the show for Amy so I would like to see her do something more interesting in the story than slam doors in Sheldon's face while he's being an obnoxious jerk.

Ultimately, like I said before, this is not about *one* single episode. It's about a cumulative effect of seeing the story head in a certain direction only to be yanked back and asked to wait some more before getting any payoff. And by payoff I don't mean sex or marriage or whatever. I mean at least getting to a point where it's made it clear that they have grown to a certain stage and that they are stable at that stage and not backtracking two years in one episode. Getting to a point where it's clear as day to everyone that Amy is satisfied *int the present* and not just waiting patiently for the day she has it all. There's so many interesting things left to do with Shamy and only two seasons left to do them in. And I am not particularly interested in wasting episodes on trite breakups this late in the game.

Because so many people don't want to talk about the episode, but would rather talk about how terrible the show is because they do a particular kind of story, or because the episode is not what they want it to be, even if they know it's only part if the story.

Saying that a STORY in a SHOW is ruining the show for some people is not talking about the show?! So what, are we just meant to comment on this if we like everything and to say "OMC this is so exciting and interesting!"? Criticizing the story is discussing the show. If you look at any review, even professional ones, the criticism, positive or negative, is about much more than the single episode and includes hypotheses and speculation about how things might or might not play out. You are asking people to look at the big picture and yet next you are asking them to focus on the episode. Episodes don't exist in a vacuum, unless they are standalone nerdy episodes about drones or pinatas.

Leonard has a history of being insecure.

I don't think he sees Sheldon as a real threat.  Dreams rarely make sense on face value. Sheldon is just another guy that is always near and.he is really very annoying. Kill two anxieties with one dream.

I know Koops you asked Kazzie, but sitting here with her. I think next episode will be a filler in a way mainly dealing with more of this and Leonard FINALLY moving out. I think episode 4-5 will start the movement more cause Sheldon will be alone alone. It is very crazy that now you have 3 episodes in 48 hours!! Thats why I really do think the San Fran trip was Sheldons gift to Amy to propose there. Its almost impossible for him to have arranged that in 48 hours. And while he said "we" to Lenny it would make sense a trip with Alcatranz and Cable Cars is very Shamy and far from Lennys dream trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you for all the info - I hope soon we start to see a move forward in terms of ShAmy getting back on track - not sure it's like this dragged out too long !!

"Un Chien Andalou" is the silent film written by Salvador Dali. TWCNBTA is like the sliced eyeball from that film, for me. Just to get poncey. I have a visceral response to the subject of Leonard's dream. A nightmare indeed. If only they had thrown in Bev. LOL.massive, um, feels. Bits shrivelling too.

They are certainly aiming for effect. Few will go *shrug*.

Thanks Kerry. Sorry, but I missed out on the San Fran trip. What's that about?

Apparently Sheldon had purchased tickets for a trip to SF, presumably for himself and Amy?  But he gives them to Leonard as a wedding present/honeymoon trip.

This is what I gather from the conversation that's been going on.  I don't know if they say this explicitly on the episode, but some were speculating that perhaps he had intended to propose to Amy on the trip?  I don't know if that's just speculation, though.

What is the context though? I mean, is it clear that Sheldon bought those for himself and is just giving them away to Lenny as an afterthought? I'm not a big fan of headcanoning too much into these things unless there's some clear indication that it was a trip for 2 he had bought for himself.

if they were going for the ick factor, having Bev pile on for the three way would have pushed it so far over the cliff, I could have probably dealt with it.

I think there are elements of "ick" deliberately. They want people to have a strong reaction. I'm not sure how honest it is to lace their sweet candy apple with these "surprises". However except for "It's a Small World", specifically, many entertaining rides have sections that make the customer wish for a strong stomach. And many have big drops, where the floor falls away. They are messing with us, obviously. To be entertaining. I'll stay on longer because I do want to know where they are taking this bus. Though my stomach is challenged.
