lennyx3
Bayern Munich just spanked Arsenal 5 1 in the UEFA Champions League. Not happy. [emoji20]I'm not talking to any Germans on this forum until further notice. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk Does it help that I'm not that much into soccer? Though I went to the same school and was born in the same hospital as Thomas Müller. Did you knew him? Completely changing the subject, I saw this picture at some Facebook pages, and since there's people from the entire world here, I'd like to know what you guys think about it. Yes, that's exactly how it works. I hate it, but people don't seem to care for unwealthy countries.

I don't think it's that people don't care, I think it's just that 1) the media attention isn't nearly as big for various reasons (did anyone even hear about the 100+ kids that were murdered by ISIS in Syria a few months ago?) and 2) when something happens closer to home it hits you harder because there's fear involved. djsurrey
Physics/Chemistry Themed Christmas tree for Richmond B.C. Rotary Club’s 15th annual “Winter Wonderland”. Physics themed cards, 3d printed KPU tags and sequenced Electroluminescent Wire (time control sequence programmed into same microcontroller used by students in PHYS1600)Also, there are chemistry molecular models on the tree that represent cellulose (wood fibre) and pinene (the smell of pine needles). You have snow (soon), a holiday, good food for dinner and I have heat, common day and some fish thing to eat (better than nothing but yours is better). Yeah, no snow yet (hoping), but dinner was turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, maple bacon sweet potatoes, creamed onions, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and rolls. Yum-o! To return the thread to something Shamy-centric I wonder just how bad that aquarium Thanksgiving buffet was ...and if Penny's cooking was any better! LOL! Yeah, I'm not usually a fan either, but these ones have carmelized onions too, and they rock. No offense to your name, but they're the ACTUAL bomb. Warm and rainy in the Midwest...turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes (mashed with roasted garlic, sour cream, cream cheese and then baked in the oven), baked sweet potatoes, steamed carrots (last ones from the garden), dressing (it's stuffing if you stuff it in the bird, it's dressing if you cook it on the side). biscuits and cheesecake for dessert. Feeding frenzy is over and now Chicago Bears/Green Bay Packers are on the TV. If I yelled at the TV during TBBT as much as they yell at the TV during football, they would stage an intervention. LOL. Escaping from Shamy, but people cook, eat til explode...and then what? If it was here everybody would dance, get drunk and then screw the dinner, they would eat it at the following morning, after waking up from the hungover LOL

We had the freezing rain earlier in the day and they are calling for 20 cm tonight....not gonna lie, I envy those who have little to no snow in the winter....6 months of winter here is a little harsh, I am hoping that I can make it out next winter sometime to go to a taping of BBT, fingers crossed it will all work out! djsurrey
I don't miss ice and snow and long winters at all. I grew up in Edmonton but have been enjoying the west coast since the mid 80's. This has been the first week that I have even had frost to scrape in the mornings.

Not a fan of winter! They're predicting snow, this side of the pond too. They're also saying we've got a very narrow (~ 1.3%) margin between electricity supply and demand, meaning, if we get a bad winter, we could be looking at rolling power cuts. You could loose power just when you need it. That ought to result in higher prices.
nibbler747
I think it would be more likely, that your main Electric grid operator will just pay higher prices to neighbouring systems. I believe Great Britain's transmission network is tied to Ireland, France and the Netherlands. So they would make up the difference...and charge a hefty price! A huge amount could be saved by a general call to the public to conserve energy where possible. Power cuts are always the last possible option, as it could effect peoples lives (especially in winter time). Well I hope that it doesn't get that cold over there! I grew up in the Prairies, and now got accustomed to west coast life and have totally acclimatized! I used to have to scrape the inside (yes inside) of my car, and now I complain about a light layer of frost! Oh how things have changed! = ) This is for my buddy JE7 (and any other Star Trek fans out there). Merry Christmas! = )
