Comic Con 2015: The Scoop on Big Bang Theory Season 9

Oh, so they're already working on the next season, this is good. But I'm a little bit bothered, I don't want an angst season. God, please, no. Should I be worried about that?

They always have the first few episodes written before they even start shooting.  It gives them time to change anything if need be.  And why would you worry about an angst season.  Big Bang is a COMEDY, not a drama.

Some comedies has drama moments. I don't know if this is true, but I read some time ago that bbt isn't #1 show anymore. Probably they'll work hard to have this title again. The cool thing about comedies is that any possible drama on it can be very strong, like this finale. I'm not recovered yet. Anyway, I hope my concerns are all illogical.

I wanted to ask but he did say they don't want to reveal anything so I didn't want to push.

I can understand that.  But again, thanks for the great report back to us on the panel and for the additional info you have provided.  I am excited to see how they are going to pull things off this coming season.

Why hasn't CBS posted the panel online yet?  It did last year the very next day.   OT: Has anyone seen a full version of Jim Parsons' Inside the Actor's studio interview online?

CBS does not have any of the panels up.   They don't have Scorpion or TBBT or any of them up.   I am not sure they are going to post them or not, but it could be that they are waiting for all of their shows to have time to present, then will post them all at once.   Right now, all they have done is bundle their own tweets into slide shows per show.

Ranger Rosa, TBBT has never officially been the #1 show.   At various times, it has been the #1 Scripted Show, in Live + Same Day, Live + 3, and Live + 7.  It has also been the #1 comedy in the same metrics.   It has been the #1 show in, in viewers in Live + 3 and Live + 7.   But the official ranks of shows are based on the 18-49 demo, in the C3.   That is the number of people who watch the show live, plus the people who watch the show, and the commercials, off their DVR within three days of the live show.  This past year, overall, it was the Number 2 Show, #1 Scripted show in viewers and #1 in Live + 7 viewers, and demo.  That's off the top of my head.

Thank you, stardustmelody.   That makes sense.

Thanks for clarifying things to me, Tensor. Does the online streamings count as watching the show live like in TV or not?

No.  Currently the only people watching television through broadcast or cable-like devices (think cable, fiber-optic, or satellite)  are counted.   Nielsen is working on counting on line viewers, as are other companies.  But as of yet, nothing is being used officially.

Some people find seats that get them in shot during every question.....impressive! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

LOL Totally not my intention. I just wanted to sit near the mic so I could ask a question. Believe me, I wanted to disappear after that.

It took a long time before the first audience question. Was there a lot of question screening going on off camera?

No, they just weren't ready to put the cameras on the audience questions when Kunal threw it over to us. It's usually not until 30 minutes into the panel but he did it about ten minutes in, so the AV crew wasn't ready. But we were at the mic ready to go.

The biggest surprise to me during the panel was The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment st up for UCLA STEM students. Very impressive.

Being curious I did a Google search and found this: http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/the-big-bang-theory-creates-scholarship-fund-for-stem-students-at-ucla

The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment has already raised more than $4 million, with an initial donation from the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation and gifts from nearly 50 people associated with the show, including stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch; executive producers Bill Prady and Steven Molaro; and members of the crew. Warner Bros. Television, CBS and other corporate partners also contributed.

[snip]

“We have all been given a gift with ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ a show that’s not only based in the scientific community, but also enthusiastically supported by that same community. This is our opportunity to give back,” said Chuck Lorre, the show’s co-creator and executive producer. “In that spirit, our Big Bang family has made a meaningful contribution, and together we’ll share in the support of these future scholars, scientists and leaders.”

Wow, how nice. :good:

Big Bang Theory was Number 1 Sitcom last season. still pulls in pretty good Number.
