No truly not, why?

I think Jim is the second best choice, but I miss Johnny in the role.

The original question is who should get an award.

Johnny never played Sheldon, so he can never can get an award for that.
That you would have preffered Johnny as Sheldon has nothing to do with this topic.

It's difficult to rate actors from different characters. Who could really say who has to get a price, a nomination, and if Mayim had played the Howard's role, wouldn't have she been amazing as acting, but maybe nobody would like to see it really. So I can't express myself because I stayed on Johnny as Sheldon. So I'm not capable to know who is better, I think Johnny as Sheldon is better. And maybe there is no relation in the thread.

But Johnny has never played Sheldon ever. How can you miss something that never occurred? Cecile you crack me up lol.

So the character of Leonard is still really like Sheldon, sometime in corporal language, shyness, and pb to digest cheese, it's somewhere only we know.

I think KC's acting has carried the show from the first; it's very often her exquisite facial acting that makes other actors' lines funny. As Penny doesn't have the blatant peculiarities of all the other characters, it actually requires more acting to make her the vivid character she is. And consider for example the scene where after giving Leonard the blanket with arms to take on the polar expedition, Penny says to the door "it means I wish you weren't going". The delivery of that line alone contains more depth of emotion than anything we've seen with the other couples.

Some members have said that KC got the part for her looks. Looking at photos of KC when she's not playing Penny, she appears to be very good-looking but not irresistably attractive. Personally, I've never much gone for blonde or uneducated women, or for women one would dare to call "sweet". But when I'm watching TBBT I'm enchanted by sweet, blonde Penny. That's due to KC's acting, not her basic looks.

the show never won an emmy till now...

so all of you who say one actor is better than other because of awards.... must surely agree that modern family is far far better than big bang theory.....

Because it has won more Emmys then Big Bang? Right tell the people who don't vote for them at the People's Choice Awards. You know the people who actually watch tv lol. Awards are subjective. It does not make a show better then one, especially when its all politics anyway. Friends won one Emmy in ten years, but was often the best comedy and most iconic comedy series of the early 2000's. MF has a lot of older actors that appeal to the conservative Emmy voters. They are different shows. But look ten-fifteen years ago, Fraiser won all the Emmy's then Friends. But Friends is still current in some ways, and Fraiser TBH ain't. I think Big Bang well have a more cultural impact then MF ever well.

That's fair enough from you lol. I have to disagree. I think Johnny stands out most of the time. I think Kaley shines more then Mayim some times. But because of her character, and her ease as an actress, it is probably not so noticeable.

Oh please.

Kaley IS Penny

Mayim BECOMES Amy

If Kaley wasn't Penny they'd have given her hair extensions when she cut her hair off.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Mayim stopped a WHOLE audience from laughing at Sheldon's line in The Platonic Permutation because of the state she induced for Amy, it was incredibly powerful and hugely moving, just like in the S8 finale and in the 9.05. I've seen Kaley do that once and thats when Lenny reunited.

Jim deserves a SAG award over an Emmy or some sort of recognition award/contribution for the arts award an Emmy just isn't enough anymore. Agreed about Johnny being overshadowed by Jim, He is good but bar the voice and his childlike essence Leonard has it is just Johnny. Simon is a master of comedy , he deserves something. With Kunal and Melissa, I don't think they've been given the chance to showcase what they can in order to get recognised for an Emmy.

Look it is just my personal opinion, I am entitled to that. While Mayim is technically a better actor. Kaley's comedic timing is second to none.

Jim has bagged many awards, Mayim is constantly nominated and Kaley has won the peoples choice. I think Simon is hugely over looked because, for what little he is given on the show, he absolutely shines!

Mayim was absolutely robbed at this years Emmy's, there is no way that Allison Janney is a 'supporting' actress on Mom, she is co lead! She should have been up for Lead and I guess she could have won as she's like an Emmy magnet lol!

I don't understand.  Have you been at every taping to know how many times Mayim has stopped a whole audience over Kaley?

Kaley has stopped the audience several times. But I agree you cannot no that for sure unless you've been to a lot of tapings. Besides that is not a reason to be qualified for an Emmy. Lime Kiss Scene, singing soft kitting to Sheldon in Season 3 e.t.c. To me Kaley personifies humility and sincerity as an actress, that's rare. Mayim is a very good actress, and deserves an Emmy. I just think Kaley's better that is all.

Each of the actors bring specific skills and talent to each of their roles.  If it was up to me I'd give them all Emmys.

But the truth is the show is 8+ years old.    I know it is still the most watched comedy on TV bringing in enviable numbers each week.  But only microscopic number of those viewers might actually might have a vote in who gets what performance award. (GG, SAG, Emmy).  Those voters do not care about viewership, they are attracted to what's new and shiny in a TV landscape that is now jammed with TV viewing options.

That being said, TBBT actors are being recognized for their work simply by the fact that people want to work with them outside of TBBT.  They are all making movies, writing, producing, doing plays, etc.  A trophy is fine, but it doesn't guarantee you future success, hard work and talent do.

First bold: I never said stopping the audience was a reason for Mayim to win an Emmy over Kaley, its her rawness and braveness when it comes to expositing her emotions that deserve her of an Emmy over Kaley. You're right I haven't been to enough tapings to know when Kaley has held an audience in the palm of her hand, maybe she has, but its never come through like that on screen which is what Emmy's, SAG etc. all look at, besides, no industry professional is gonna go 'lets give Kaley an Emmy, she held the audience at the taping of TBBT' na thats what Tony & Olivier awards are for, for the stage side of industry. Its all about what comes though on that TV screen and I've never seen Kaley control the audience reaction like Mayim did in that car scene, especially when there was an extremely funny line that warranted a laugh half way through it. The Lime Kiss was just everyone going mental because it was a raunchy kiss between a (at the time) real life couple so people went mad, it wasn't her ability as an actress that held that audience. I got a whole different side of Kaley's ability when she told Leonard she loved him for the first time, now that was an Emmy nomination worthy moment. Second bold: She does that because its Kaley's nature thats why she portrays it well and thats why she wins things like Peoples Choice because shes relatable, cute and most teens dirty dream. Emmy's are for actors who have an extreme skill set that makes them stand out from the rest of the crowd i.e people like Jim, he's a classically trained actor who works his arse off as Sheldon combined with his other work in film & stage that differ him from Sheldon. Mayim grew up learning from the masters of comedy and she works just as hard as Jim, I've never seen Kaley do any different. I can't tell the difference from one role to the next with Kaley which is why I'm looking forward to seeing Burning Bodhi. That I would LOVE to see her win awards for, because it'll show her versatility more as an actress. Plus, she's had to take a step outside of the Hollywood films for someone to give her the opportunity to play a role like Katy. She's already thinking over her career when she leaves Big Bang by doing movies like that, shes expanding her horizon. I'd prefer her to break out of this girl-next-door crap and do other things, show me what she can really do without that cute girl ballshit, thats why she shouldn't win and probably is why she hasn't gotten any industry picked awards.

I get that its your opinion and thats fine, I'm now giving you mine.

Mayim is basically known for two things. Blossom and Amy. A teenage nerd and an adult nerd. In the last episode the tag IMO was the weakest part of the episode. An award winning scene that's just laughable. Her acting career was basically over after Blossom. That's why she went to back to school. You hate Kaley we get it.

What is your point here please? That Mayim is somehow undeserving of our praise because she isn't known for more stuff? because by that logic neither are the rest of the cast, none of them were hugely famous before this show.

Mayim didn't 'go back to school' she left acting after Blossom, doing bit parts here and there whilst getting her PHD and has said that she returned to acting full time because it gave her better options time wise for her children.

Being nominated for 4 Emmy's, an SAG award and a Satellite award = acting career over to you? ok got it. cool.

You hate Kaley we get it.

You think Kaley is the better actress because she is the most physically attractive. We get it.

I love Kaley, I just don't think that she is as good an actress as either Melissa or Mayim, that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy her performances or that I don't think she deserves the people's choice or the Satellite or the critics choice awards that she has won.

She is the highest paid actress on television, she deserves that and I doubt that she cares that she's never been nominated for an Emmy/Golden Globe for this role.

But KC has made the TV audience laugh at lines by other actors that wouldn't have been so funny without Penny's reaction very many times: and this is supposed to be a comedy, not a weepie, right?

As for MB, she stops me from laughing nearly every time she's on screen - bacause she's just not funny.

You are correct this is a comedy but the award is not 'funniest' actor/actress.

There is no way anyone thought that Jeffrey Tambor was the funniest actor on television last year, he won the Emmy, Golden Globe, Satellite and the Critics Choice awards because he gave an amazing performance as an actor within a comedy.
