JohnPhD Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 On 22/11/2015, 12:40:03, Cécile Dull said: Penny and Leonard have a relationship, but Penny is really often at the boy's flat, than Leonard to her appartement. She used to wear intimacy clothes during this moments, as if there were no difference in the ratio with Leonard and Sheldon. So she creates a special relation with Sheldon, and that's why as a friend of both, she is currently with them, as a 5th boy. Penny has no interest for nerd's science, she makes it feels to Sheldon, but cross this to her boyfriend, that's strange. So it makes me realise she is an awkward girl; awkward girl, awkward boy, who looks like Sheldon more than Penny, certainly not her oposite Amy. Then she realises she was in a long term story with Leonard, she became to be more maternal with Sheldon, to stay closer to him, and to assure him she always will prefere him. Her relation with Leonard always was really light, but when she faces Sheldon, she becomes really serious and concerned, as to tell him, 'now you can be as concerned as I am with you, with me.' So she is as if cool, sympathetic, and friendly, especially the kind of girl men criticized and justify sometime rudeness. I must say I'm intrigued by Cecile's hypothesis that Penny really loves Sheldon, not Leonard. Maybe between season's I'll rewatch the past seasons with that in mind. Certainly in the Pilot Penny was first much more responsive to Sheldon than to Leonard. (incidentally it appears that neither Penny nor Sheldon was aware that the hero of A Beautiful Mind is a paranoid schizophrenic). But no. It won't really fly. But maybe Cecile is not alone, and that's why the creators wrote that scene where Penny says (to herself) "Oh Sheldon, you are so not the guy". Sometimes I imagine the guys discussing TBBT the way they do shows they've all seen. Who would coime up withy Cecile's hypothesis - maybe Raj? Einstein Von Brainstorm Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 If she was in love with Sheldon and not Leonard then... Why encourage Sheldon to date Amy? Why marry Leonard? Why not go after Sheldon inline with the strong confident character that she is? Why describe him as a brother? You could make the argument that there is a spark of attraction between them perhaps but the evidence suggests no deep romantic feelings between them

And Penny's reply? "Well, for starters, at some point, that face starts talking." Sure she might have felt attracted to him when she first met him in the pilot but that attraction went flying out the window and never returned the moment he started talking. 3ku11 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Far as im concerned Penny was attracted to leonard from the begginning not Sheldon. Based on what? Because liked his whiteboard? Please. She was more into Leonards white board anyway, when he showed her. Now hypothetically If Penny liked Sheldon first based on actual looks and not knowing him at al. Then your saying Penny's pre dispositions in judging someone is very superficial and shallow. She is not Alicia. She came across as very down to earth, who just got out of a relationship with a gym type. So based on that idea, it makes the idea of S and P very shallow and superficial, with no depth at all. Leonard is the one who actually went and got Penny's money from Kurt. I can buy the moment Sheldon opened his mouth interest waned. But I just say Penny meeting two geniuses and Sheldon is the genius, so she was fascinated. I never saw any sparks, I mean that is impossible, or biologically impossible. I actually saw sparks early on between Leonard and Penny, when she had that shower. Besides saying Sheldon is better looking then Leonard is very subjective. I have seen some peope say they think Leonard is better looking, I Think he is. It is just Sheldon is tall, girls like tall guys. And as for Amys comment about his face. That's Amy, she thinks he is perfect, she is the only one lo. Hence Pennys comment. And I just find it delusion. To argue Penny loves Sheldon lol. I mean do some of you live on planet earth. Penny establishing and making it clear several times early on she see's Sheldon as a brother. She even said this so many times. How you can equate a maternal relationship, and twist into she loves Shedon more has always gone over my head. When Leonard and Penny have always had this unspoken bond in a away. No one understands Penny more then Leonard. To Love someone is to understand someone, that's just not their. Penny has had sex with Leonard, they have dated. Penny told Leonard she loves him, and married him. S and P has always been a purely maternal relationship. I think that is the point. Lenny is boy meets gir cute, romantic, but two best friends falling in love. IT is not rocket science, some where along the line that got lost. I think some of you put Shedon on a pedestal. OH could Penny resist such a handsome, tall man. Of course theirs sparks how could their not be. Sheldon is pale and skinny far as im concerned. Not her type at all, gym guys like Kurt were. I am just trying to establish the point Penny was not interested in either at that point. Edited November 24, 2015 by 3ku11

It's the same for girls who wanna to be talked as 'biatches', nerd, or geek comes also with the informatique culture where really 'how to call them' searchers began to be the world wide leaders, so they call them nerd or geek, but they are only data searchers, or porn addictes. I'm very, very glad that it didn't go that way! I think that with the unaired pilot they were still going for Leonard and the girl, they just didn't have the right girl, if you will. She didn't like Sheldon, really. Leonard is the one who went to her job and talked to her about coming back, as I recall. Sheldon was almost the same, the super weird guy who had a particular "spot", this time at their favorite restaurant rather than on their couch. He was still inappropriate, but more sexualized (he was into big butts and had slept--secretly--with the geeky girl), but still wasn't into the "hot girl". But in the pilot that did air, Penny wasn't into Sheldon more than she was into Leonard. Leonard was the one who invited her to eat with them and was the one who drew her out and got her to tell the, about herself. She was kind of friendly to all of them, but I think she saw Leonard as the most normal and possibly the easiest to relate to. Though she was somewhat impressed with Sheldon's whiteboard, that wasn't a signal of true love or anything. She was impressed that it was a bunch of stuff that looked "geniusy", but it was not something by which she judged which one she was going to fall in love with. Leonard was the one from whom she asked a favor and the one she trusted with the key to her apartment. At anyway, the spark between her and Sheldon was one of friendly antagonism, not romance, and in the end, Leonard has been the one she fell in love with. Do you have some need to impress everyone with how much you dislike the show now? As it turns out, millions of people still enjoy the show and find it funny, and that's not a shame. And I dont think the show only had "glory days" in the past. There have been many fantastic episodes in the last few seasons. IMO.
