910 The Earworm Reverberation (December 10)

I thought it was also hilarious when Bernadette accused Howsrd and Raj of being like stalkers toward their fan.  It was only 2 episodes ago that Leonard made the same suggestion about her because of her "keeping tabs on her [old] boyfriends."  But of course in that case we learned she's "just a harmless little girl with military-grade spy equipment."  Ha!

I loved the episode--even the silly Raj/Howard part.

I loved how Raj and Howard wanted to be a "band" so badly that they considered their one-time gig at the comic book store like an indie concert in a club or something.  There really are people like that out there!  And getting all excited over their one fan.  And then thinking he was the best guy in the world--until they saw him picking his nose!  I think that was funny because that's kind of how life can be.  And some people really do pick their noses in public... LOL!

I love that Penny was just there in the apartment in a very domestic, homey way.  Perfectly comfortable with Leonard and happy to be with him.  I did wonder why they didn't just go to Penny's apartment to avoid Sheldon and his earworm, but then it wouldn't have been as funny.  But they were together, no matter where they were.  I loved the "lint trap" line, too.

And I liked that Sheldon and Leonard were trying to work on a physics problem, even though Sheldon's obsession was interfering.  I loved the line about how sometimes Sheldon's brain makes a sound.

I liked the Amy/Bernadette scene and also the date scene with Dave.  I think Mayim did a great job at showing how Amy wasn't quite sure of what she wanted when it came to Dave--she wanted to be with someone who liked her, but at the same time she was hesitant to sit there and smooch on the couch, like she had to talk herself into it, not just follow some lustful impulse.

I loved Sheldon's "descent into madness" videos--cute and funny, including his admissions about Leonard and Penny being his friends/trustworthy.

And of course, the reconciliation.  I loved that Sheldon rushed over to Amy's place without taking his bag or his jacket or anything--just ran out the door the minute he realized what was going on his heart/head.  And that he declared his love so easily, but then was willing to let her finish her date.

The ONLY thing I didn't like was the song itself.  I concede that Sheldon might know a random Beach Boys song that he doesn't even like, and that his subconscious mind might find the lyrics meaningful.  I just think that it was a little heavy-handed and too "on point."  Of all the songs that might fill that role, it seems a very unlikely choice and seems a lot like some whim or favorite of one of the writers.  Just like the songs that some of us have posted as "Shamy songs", where we like some song because the lyrics remind us of Sheldon and/or Amy and what their thoughts might be about each other or their relationship, and some of those songs are more obscure than others, this song choice seems kind of out of left field and too specific.

But I do like that Sheldon found a way to realize what Amy meant to him.  I just thought the song was both too random and too specific to what the writers wanted to say.

I did love the "dryer sheets" and the "heartworm" lines ("Not the poodle-killing kind") :)

Haven't posted on here in ages while I stil watched the show each week. Real life and getting healthy got in the way.

S8 was a bit of a let down imho but I thoroughly been enjoying the current season! Thanks to the writers for stepping up and making it fun to watch again.

Wasn't a great fan of the Shamy when it first started but adored Mayim's acting as Amy and that was main reason I came to love the connection. Felt really bad when they were broken up as they really do complete each other.

So obviously I loved this episode, the reunion was done with great care as I loved seeing Sheldon find out what Amy really meant to him and act to that notion consequently. Adored the "You're my heartworm" line!

Bernadette's conversation with Amy was great as was the interaction between Penny and Leonard!

Raj / Howard I didn't enjoy this time... Creepy and childish

Thanks for this episode!

I think they have had that Beach Boys song planned for quite some time.  They have to get licensing rights and that can take months to acquire.   Someone must have researched lyrics of songs and honestly, I thought the song was well done because it was more of an obscure song (not a big hit with the BBoys and not really that well known), but the wording also was very appropriate because it did describe Sheldon and how Amy affected his heart.   Honestly, it seemed to me very well planned and executed.   Was the tune the best?  No, not really.   We're the words perfect?   Perhaps in this situation, and yes there are many songs that fans have posted that have wonderful words and music, but in this case, it really seemed very Sheldony in a way to me.  I don't know...I found the song perfect for this moment, even if an odd choice.

I totally agree about your post otherwise....very great and hilarious lines last night...all the stories were funny and yes...I agree about there being real life people like Raj/Howard about their "bands" and fans.   So funny!

I thought it was perfect too. And I think it's very Sheldony in a way that it's odd and not what we expect because Sheldon is odd and really unexpected.

As Penny aptly put, "That's why he's number one."

I knew that when the time would come, Sheldon would rise to the occasion with no second thoughts and no regrets at all, because he is not at all insecure, and he would never stew Amy like people were talking about weeks ago in Shamy thread!

I am truly really happy today, true love shines from the darkest places.

I loooooove Dave as I loved him before, the actor and the writing was brilliant! He should come back from time to time, he is so sweet and funny, I love him!

Overall great episode, only the Raj-Howard plot was not that funny/interesting but the actors nailed it!

Good day people, it was a good day for the show!

Congrads!

They did an excellent job with this episode.  When you're laughing and smiling from ear to ear by the end, you know the writers did something right. I loved seeing crazy Sheldon again.  One thing I found interesting about this episode was the contrast between the Sheldon reverted (how he used to be, bat crap crazy) to Sheldon becoming the softer Sheldon again at the end.  It was a great contrast to show how Amy how affected him, which I think was the point of the whole thing.

Am I the only one that thought the tune he hummed didn't match the song when they played it?  Lol.

I really liked seeing Leonard, Penny, and Sheldon eating dinner together.  I didn't think they would keep Sheldon in the mix once they got married, but it seems to make sense now.

Did everyone notice how nervous and shy Sheldon looked before the first kiss?  Like Dave being there was bothering him, or like it had been too long and he was nervous about the kissing.

I'm looking forward to next week.  In the preview, one of the scenes showed Sheldon on his knees in a praying position.  This should be a hum-dinger of an episode. I hope the writers do it justice like they did this week.

Are there any big Shamy fans out there that think the opening scene had a deeper meaning, LOL.  Probably reading too much into it.

One thing that made me kind of chuckle was watching Sheldon eating dinner--Jim always pushes his food around and almost never actually puts food in his mouth (I'm assuming that he doesn't want to have to say his lines with his mouth full or whatever).  So this time he actually was eating and chewing.  And had his fork upside down...

Anyway, I found it a little amusing. :)

My hubby actually pointed this out.  He's like "he holds his fork weird"

and seeing Jim actually eating was oddly tittlating....

Can you imagine the aspiring actor who gets a role on a top-rated show, and he calls his mother to describe the role.  "Well, Mom, I mainly pick my nose. Aren't you proud of me?"

I can also imagine him thinking....  "I thought this show was smart.....but a guy picking his nose and eating it.... " ... wow could'nt have been more wrong...." ... but hey I'll get good money..... so who cares..........."   lol....

I bet the actors playing leonard raj howard and penny would have thought of this episode.......howard and raj .. we have to work with useless filler crap with a juvenile crude punchline written for 2 year olds..... while leonard and penny.....just one expression for the entire episode ...annoyed with sheldon.....hurray we get 1 million dollars....lol

I always laugh at the joke that always comes in the show..in every single episode..... The name of actor playing leonard comes up first in the credits.....and he is like the least interesting/most pathetic character in the show....his screentime is not even comparable to Sheldon's ...both quality and quantity.....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

why penny and leonard did not decide to sleep in penny's apartment... when they both know sheldon is going to be annoying ...since he has been like that atleast the whole day?????..... is quite baffling.....

did they lose their minds....that the could'nt even think of such an easy solution...... and leonard is supposed to be a genius while penny .. "the great penny" is supposed to super street smart......what a bunch of idoits....

And he has 1 million reasons per episode NOT to care what anyone else thinks...

besides the bed scene ( which I liked but with Sheldon in the next room) Lenny was with Sheldon the rest of the scenes. kind of killed the cuteness with him there.

Yeah he really got in the way when she said that Leonard was "The lint trap of her love" and they kissed... no wait he didn't at all AND he set up that cute moment! :icon_rolleyes:

My thinking on this was that his mother most likely listened to the Beach Boys back in the day and the song got filed in his brain somewhere :)

And yet for someone you deem the least interesting character, he gets the majority of your posts focus.  It also doesn't help that almost ALL of your observations on him come across as strawman arguments.

And just about any time another character does something that could be seen in a pathetic light, they get next to no focus from you.  For instance, Howard being demeaned by his wife with the chore chart last season (treating him like a child, and him going along with it), got nothing from you.  Raj not having the spine to break up with someone because he fears being alone, got nothing from you.  Personally I think THOSE two instances could be seen as just as pathetic as anything Leonard has done, if not more.  And I like both characters but lets not sugar coat them.

:icon_rolleyes:  What part of they signed a roommate agreement (where they stay at Shelnard's apartment some nights, and Penny's apartment on other nights) are you not comprehending?  Also what makes you think it would've done any good?  Remember The Werewolf Transformation in season 5?  Penny could hear Sheldon playing the bongo drums from her bedroom ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE HALL.

Yes because one juvenile joke determines the intelligence output of a sitcom. :icon_rolleyes:

You clearly have never watched situational comedies. Yes it would make more logical sense, if this was real life. But its a comedy, it woulden't be as funny. As it is I don't think I Can recall you ever saying anythin positive about the show, let alone Leonard. If I am wrong lol, then okay. As for Leonard being uninteresting and pathetic, well I don't think thats true. You seem to be just projecting your own crap onto the character, from what ive noticed with your posts. Pathetic and uninteresting would be the last thing I would describe his character. What excatly did he do that was pathetic? You use that word for his character all the time, yet I have yet to see any evidence of it. His screen time for 9 years has just as much if not more quality then Sheldon at times. I just come to the conlucsion you have an anti-biast towards his character.

Nope, the same thought was bugging me too, so I had to break open the piano app and peck it out myself to see what the differences were. They're actually close than I thought.

Sheldon's earworm went something like:

C C (one octave up) B-flat B-flat A B-flat B-flat

While the verse to Darlin' goes:

C C (one octave up) B-flat A B-flat B-flat

So the only difference is a repeated note in the earworm, and the A is held a beat longer in the original song. Oh and the last two B-flats in the actual song are played faster than the last two B-flats in the earworm.

I know this is extra geeky even for a Big Bang fan, but it was bugging me, so I had to figure it out.
