Also what makes you think it would've done any good? Remember The Werewolf Transformation in season 5? Penny could hear Sheldon playing the bongo drums from her bedroom ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE HALL. I don't think Lenny are that prone to strictly follow each point of the Rooommate Agreement (at least, not Penny!), I agree that the purpose of having them at the same apartment is because they had to be the victims of Sheldon's antics, for comedy purposes, but I also agree that it was odd that they didn't at least try to scape from the situation, true that Penny heard the bongo playing, but you can't compare the noisy bongoes with Sheldon's little keyboard!, I don't think it would be the same to be across the hall than being separated by a single wall. I mean, they only needed to add one single line or a short dialog to explain the obvious solution that seemed to be to go to Penny's apt, maybe a "What a time to fumigate your apartment!" or something like that. Some may think it's just nitpicking, but I think the criticism is valid, I mean, everyone I know who watched the episode told me the same thing, "why didn't they just go to Penny's place?" I think it all boils down to the fact that Leonard and Penny want to be there, and we all know that Leonard complains about Sheldon, but he has separation anxiety issues. Even when Sheldon is not home, they are hanging out in 4A.

But if they had leave to her apartment while he was still playing the keyboard (he was so obsessed with the song he could probably hadn't noticed) instead of taking it away, the tuba wouldn't have even come to play! I'm only saying that for people not being confused for their lack of action, they very well could have added a little line that clarified things up, we can think of several excuses or explanations for it, or some could think it's not that important, and that's okay, but it undoubtedly was a plothole. 3ku11 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Logically Lenny could leave the apartment, and go oh I am sick of this lets go to my place. But its isolated comedy. It defeats the purpose when you use real world logic lol. It's not about plot holes, its about maintaining the purpose of comedy. I mean you could say why has Leonard not moved out since S3? Why did Alan live at Charlies beach house for 12 years? When he was financially capable of moving out? Comedy. Watching people doing the most logical thing and making the right choices just doesn't make for good comedy.
No Regrets Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 The one annoying thing about the option to ignore people in this forum is that their posts still show up when others quote them. But let's move on. There's one very logical reason why Leonard and Penny didn't go to 4B. It's because this is a comedy and them staying at 4A and being annoyed with Sheldon was funnier. You're welcome.
Cerry Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) To me that they stay makes sense (ok while watching I wondered too, but) they are in their parents role again. They take care of Sheldon, how can they leave him alone when he goes crazy. And Sheldon wouldn't let them go, he would come to their apartement, because he can't be alone in such a moment. That the earworm didn't exactly match the song bugged me, too. And the Howard Raj story line didn't do much for me. But I loved the rest of the episode. I found the writing very clever, the first time when Sheldon wants Amy to be his girlfriend was also on a date - after he cleared it up he also (would have) left, there are several parallels, but you can see how much he has matured. No touching the first time, now they kiss with their armes around each other, wow. I also loved the documentary, a way to admit what Lenny meant to him. It was such an emotionally heavy episode, but they found solutions to lighten it. So I can live with the choice of the song that doesn't sound emotionally heavy but really has it in the lyrics. Also the acting, Sheldon, Amy, Dave really nailed it. Very well done. Edited December 12, 2015 by Cerry typo
Kasey Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 With no disrespect to anyone, I just was not impressed with this episode. I can't quite put my finger on why specifically. Just little things that didn't make sense or add up to me. Wasn't bothered that Lenny didn't change apartments when Sheldon was annoying because I think it's dumb that they would have to change apartments in the middle of the night because anyone was annoying them. I also didn't get how Amy could be swooping in for a kiss with Dave and when Sheldon comes knocking it's all about the Sheldon. Yeah I know he is her love but it just didn't sit well with me. I thought Dave was a great sport throughout that whole date. The Lenny part on the couch was cute and there were some funny lines but like I said above, just wasn't overly impressed... Ginny Hamilton Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Perhaps I'm the only one, but as Sheldon repeated the song that he couldn't remember, I flashed back to the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Especially, when he plays those notes on the tuba in his bedroom. It was used so brilliantly as a device in Encounters, and I thought they might be having a little fun with the idea here--and the movie title. Einstein Von Brainstorm Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 14 hours ago, Gbb said: Nope, the same thought was bugging me too, so I had to break open the piano app and peck it out myself to see what the differences were. They're actually close than I thought. Sheldon's earworm went something like: C C (one octave up) B-flat B-flat A B-flat B-flat While the verse to Darlin' goes: C C (one octave up) B-flat A B-flat B-flat So the only difference is a repeated note in the earworm, and the A is held a beat longer in the original song. Oh and the last two B-flats in the actual song are played faster than the last two B-flats in the earworm. I know this is extra geeky even for a Big Bang fan, but it was bugging me, so I had to figure it out. Sheldon interrupting Amy's kiss/date is a classic comedy timing thing--it's always the case that such things happen the way they do. The point of her nervousness and hesitance with Dave was that she was kind of forcing herself to try to move on from Sheldon when she had just felt that she wanted Sheldon back. So, she's trying to force something with Dave that she didn't really feel, and her line just before Sheldon started knocking was the comedic set-up for that. Just like in the old series Laverne & Shirley. Whenever their creepy friends Lenny and Squiggy were about to show up, Laverne or Shirley or someone would say something that would time perfectly with their appearance. It's basically a "speak of the devil..." kind of thing.
