NeckShotLime Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Yeah Dave was a great character, would have been nice to see more of him. i still laugh like an idiot anytime I see that scene where he has to lean down to talk to Leonard . OMG Stephen Merchant is a gem.

From his “kiss her you brilliant fool” to wanting to chat about physics with Sheldon, he was pro-Shamy and ended up with the door slammed in his face…Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Leonard's aim must have been bad when peeing in the plastic container. 🙂
NeckShotLime Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I also loved the fact he was a big fan of Leonard, this doesn't happen very often, you know because Leonard is nothing special * eye roll*

NeckShotLime Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 (edited) I don't want to get off topic too much otherwise Tensor will spank us lol but my biggest disappointment when it comes to Leonard is that they didn't allow him to achieve anything big in physics. Don't get me wrong, he's built a good life for himself , he's a renowned academic, he's got a great job at Caltech but I was so hoping he'd get a big win at some point ( not a Nobel because that was never gonna happen for him, let's be realistic) but alas... I had so many hopes. Edited November 18, 2021 by NeckShotLime

I had so many hopes We do get hints that LL Hofstadter is an above average experimental physicist. Hawking was familiar with his work and requested his going on the North Sea expedition. He had given talks on his papers. He was involved in numerous government projects (remember the early days when Korean spy Joyce Kim was looking to obtain government secrets from him). As referred to above in this thread, Dave seemed to be as familiar with and enthusiastic about Leonard’s work as he was with Sheldon. For me that points to the existence of articles about Leonard available to people like Dave that want to seek it out. I had so many hopes. Leonard did have a reputation as an expert in laser technology. However, I would have liked to see him establish himself as a full professor with tenure or maybe even chair of the physics dept. That would have been a nice closure to his character (aside from marrying Penny and being a father)
