Sometimes the holiday theme is a way to bring a bunch of characters together for one big chaotic bit of comedy. Sometimes it allows certain pairings to separate and yet remain thematically connected across the half-hour. Tonight’s Valentine’s Day-themed episode of The Big Bang Theory falls into that latter category, with the day of love and companionship (or loneliness and gross capitalism, depending on where you stand) promoting an episode structure that sees each subplot nicely tied together. Is it just me or there's a vibe that this guy, based on some of his reviews, is a Shamy shipper?

Well, maybe it's just a phase that they're going through. Remember that all other couples went though a breakup and according to Sheldon, he and Amy are 'stronger than ever' after one. I'll stay positive and think that Emily will be back in the near future. He had it coming for sure and I do get your point about what Sheldon said. I think though that him trying to dump Emily for someone else isn't like the other ( unless you consider Howard and the troll) couples. I see his only chance of getting her back is seeing Emily with another guy and saying he screwed up. Maybe Emily and another guy double dating with Shamy. I still remember the movie theater and Raj seeing her with the other guy. She felt so bad. I know Emily was a bit creepy early on but it seemed obvious she really liked him. I re-watched this episode and realized that Raj only wanted Emily back because he'd be alone on Valentine's day... not because he genuinely likes her. You're right. Maybe if he sees Emily with another, he'll wake up and come to the realization that he can't get any better that her. I mean... she's the only one of all the girls that came and went in Raj's life that puts up with all his weirdness - even his girlish ways. A.D.A. Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) This episode was pretty fun, but I think it could have benefitted from being at least 10 minutes longer. The Raj segment was so akwardly and quickly cut I didn't even realise it wasn't supposed to be just his imagination this time, and Penny and Shamy could have developed more humour with more time. Howardette's segment worked, I think. That rabbit was supercute. I also didn't get the end of Lenny's storyline. That seemed like lol randumb humour to me. How does being young and fun translate to putting on Funkenmariechen costumes and throwing confetti? Where... did they think that would lead? Was that a prank or... ? Anyway, Penny looked pretty good, so, fanservice, I guess. I'm childish and laughed way too much at Kripke's pole comment. Edited February 12, 2016 by A.D.A. BazingaFan Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Wow i'm surprised that most of you liked this one. It was cringe-worthy in my opinion. The rabbit in the hot tub was just an odd storyline to me. And don't get me started on the ending with penny and leonard in those horrid costumes. Was that supposed to be believable? There's funny and then there's stupid. Was the confetto thing at the end supposed to be some sort of joke that I didn't get? I've watched it twice and I'm still wondering what they were thinking with this one. :/

The rabbit in the tub was even odder because originally Bernadette wasn't pregnant in the script. The costume looked more horrid on Leonard. Kind of like some women in bikinis (I'm sure I will hear about this) Just because you can wear itdoesn't mean you should. The idea of Bernadette pregnant and Lenny getting older was okay but I do get your comment on there's funny and there's stupid. sgreece Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 True to be told, great episode! Sheldon wants to hang himself on that flag's tree was everything, I loved it. But, as I said, truth be told, this show needs 25 mins episodes (at least)! Don't waste excellent acting and great writing people with rushing for limited air time! Such a pitty! Love the show, completely obsessed with it!

jenafan Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) I thought this episode was humorous and very well balanced between all the characters. I've actually gone back and rewatched it more than any other this season. I enjoyed Lenny being happily married and so in sync with each other, growing up together. I totally get Penny's concerns about getting older, and to me it is not marriage to Leonard that is her issue, it is dealing with the fact she is no longer in her 20s. Life just seems a lot more real now. My favorite scene was when she suggested the midnight showing and then was relieved it was sold out, even though she wanted to do something fun and Leonard joking with her about being married to an old man. I enjoy how they continue to confirm their sex life has not gone stale. "National sex night." I never thought of VD that way before. Leonard throwing the fries and confetti at her was funny. I love that he tries so hard to make her feel better about her concerns. Also, I don't care how mature Penny gets. The woman is still absolutely beautiful. Even though it would have been nice to hear Sheldon finish his speech to Amy, I love the way Lenny interrupted them. I hope this continues so Sheldon gets tired of it and wants them out of the apartment. The whole FWF (Dr. Fowler show) was to die for. Annoyed Sheldon is just hilarious, and like some of the other female fans, I did enjoy the eye candy. Sheldon wanting to hang himself from a tree on a flag, getting up to erase the whiteboard, and then writing FUN back on it at the end is probably going to be one of my all time favorite scenes. I'm glad to finally get some of Amy's POV on the break up by proxy through Raj. I enjoyed Shamy sitting across from each other and Sheldon sharing a factoid about the confetti over a sip of tea; the wink at the end and Amy's coy smile in return. Now, that's the Shamy I've been missing and am so glad to have it back. Raj got everything he deserved for dumping Emily the way he did. Leonard seemed to be indifferent. Good for him, as he knows what Raj is like. I hate he got sympathy from Penny, Amy, and Sheldon and he's outright using his parents money now as a means to attract women, but the man has obviously got problems when dealing with the opposite sex. I hope we get to see Emily again. Howardette, what can I say? This couple used to make me cringe because I thought their relationship was odder than Shamy with Howard practically being married to his mother and liking it, but they are really growing on me. I loved how they had to switch places tonight because she didn't know how to work the switches, and he didn't know where the kitchen items were kept. However, my favorite line was Howard's fear that he lost his hearing when he sat on the mute button. LOL! Kripke's taunting. Can't get enough of it. He's my favorite guest star. It would be nice if he could find someone to settle down with and maybe curb his creepy factor. Unfortunately, I think bachelorhood remains in his future because of his attitude toward women and sex. My vote is to bring on more episodes like this and leave the drama behind! Edited February 13, 2016 by jenafan

Forgot to mention that I also quite enjoyed Sheldon getting annoyed with everyone, cause usually it's the other way around, LOL. Well, Leonard is about ten years older, so he's had more time to come to terms with it. Also, this could be the first time that Penny's "flirting" hasn't worked, the first time she's been called "Ma'am", which really hasn't given her time to make peace with it. Really didn't like the feeling of Lenny interrupting Sheldon mid sentence and I badly needed closure but the thought of Lenny moving out completely is good, too. Lots of possibilities for our ShAmy. ^.^ I knew it was not just me! My friend and I argued if it's just Jim's eyes or if Sheldon really winked at Amy. [*screams] Now I can sleep peacefully. Was it ever mentioned in the show? If I remember correctly, by the episode when Sheldon spoke about the list of his enemies, it can be inferred that he is born more or less in 1980, so he is about 35-36 years old. I've always assumed that Leonard was about the same age. Is he older than that? Edited February 13, 2016 by mirs1
