kimbee73 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I absolutely loved this episode. I laughed pretty much the entire time. Howard freaking out was exactly what happens. And the guys and girls reactions were spot on. I loved Bernadette' s hormones already. I see lots of comedy with this. The karaoke was terrific. Drunk Sheldon cracks me up every time. I know it is not for everyone. His reaction to Howardette making the baby in his bed was so him. Was it the appropriate time? Probably not but I know Amy definitely would tell him. The tag scene which I see some people hated and some people loved, I was fine with. What made me laugh about that was probably because I was involved in doing that once to a friend when they were the first to pass out at a party. Of course I was in my twenties but maybe this was just more residual from them being young and fun.
stardustmelody Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 6 hours ago, Shelldon said: This episode had some passable humor (I would never use a period instead of a question mark in a text) and a somewhat coherent Howardette arc that they haven't shared in awhile. It was a simple and basic premise but sometimes relying on an easy concept can give the show more time to focus on aspects it usually lacks. I really thought they handled most of the conversations in this episode well. The karaoke "baby" singing was a chore to sit through though. It could have just been normal karaoke instead of attempting the lame punchline of Bernadette having a baby meaning they had to sing songs with the word "baby" in them. I was also disappointed with Sheldon not being given a funnier thing to sing on stage. A bit of missed potential. Once again the Leonard/Sheldon helium theory is brought up. I'm curious of its impending significance, perhaps in the finale? Also I do not get the obsession with wine that these girls have in so many of their subplots. Finally I have to say it was amazing to finally get out of that apartment. I really enjoyed the set change they were all at. Very refreshing visually. I hope they will do less bottle-ish episodes after the Sheldon party next week. Don't know if you realize it, but this was aired on National Wine Drinking Day so perhaps in this specific episode they were doing a tie-in to the day? Just a possibility. hokie3457 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Such a happy-go-lucky episode. Totally enjoyed Bernadette's big reveal (also her "we are family. I've got all my sisters with me"...). Both Simon and Melissa got the chance to shine and they did in a BIG way! Simon's freak-out moment(s) were hilarious, i/c and all over the board, once again showing his underrated abilities. Melissa delivered her lines greatly (who else could picture her as a pouty 8 year old when she didn't get her way?) and her facial expressions during the karaoke scene were laugh-out-loud funny for me. Some things that bothered some posters I really enjoyed. Penny's reveal just as Bernadette was ready to share her happy news was hilarious and totally in character (remember Amy & Sheldon's experiment in Season 5???). More than hilarious was the fact that the Wolowitz spawn was conceived on Sheldon's bed--there is no other place that would be even close to being as funny. Penny's quick "our place" was cute as it IS "their place" her, Leonard and Sheldon (this nonsense of people saying its "Sheldon's apartment" as if Leonard is a guest staying long past his welcome and his having brought another sub-sub-tenant is getting extremely old really fast). Getting a little tired of drunk Sheldon although his quick throw away "how's it going" (or words to that effect-sorry, I'm old and detail has escaped me) was very funny as was the cringe worthy thought of what he may have done in the kitchen!! Leonard & Raj's singing was awful (both the song choice and delivery) and that's why it was so, so, so funny. Penny and Amy's singing while pointing to the general location of the in utero Wolowitz had me smiling as well. Sheldon's so off topic song choice, singing, with one hand over his heart, the other on Bernadette's shoulder was amazingly funny. Finally, Howard's song was touching and his mic drop at the moment of Sheldon's learning the where/how/when of the conception was again laugh-out-loud funny. Just to close, the tag was perfection. A wonderful moment for Leonard and Penny (let's face it they have been too much in the background considering they are newly married) that was so touching and amazing and THEN brought perfectly back to the relm of reality with the quite artistic job they did on Sheldon's face. Wish we could see his reaction when he looks in the mirror. The Hofstadters may not be as young as they once were, but they sure are fun!!!! Denise07 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 First episode in awhile that I enjoyed from start to finish. The "our place" did bother me but can't say I'm surprised at this point on that. Overall, for me, this was a fun episode. I would like to see more group stories/epis. Was very refreshing! djsurrey Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 One thing that seems kind of impractical about Howard's navigation system is that superfluid helium needs to be kept so cold. Not too practical in a mobile system. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/lhel.html
Chocoholic Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Just saw the episode. It was fantastic. Loved it. God I had been waiting for a group episode for SO LONG now. My favourite lol moments were Howard freaking out that the kid would have his nose, tag scene with Sheldon's face and Leonard singing (You want it, you got it) haha.. Since he is the 'straight man' of the show I sometimes forget how funny he can be. This scene in particular reminded me of the scene from an earlier season in which Sheldon is hiding in the car while Leonard drives to work singing hysterically. That was some funny singing from Johnny. I didn't mind Penny calling 4a her place. It is not just Sheldon's place. It is Leonard's as well. And what's Leonard's is Penny's I suppose? Besides she has spent a lot of time in that apartment for the past 9 years . Now more than ever. So i guess its okay for me. Also didn't mind the tag scene with drawings on Sheldon's face. I found it very funny. Not childish. Life is all about having fun. If not with your friends then who? Loved Sheldon being supportive towards Howard and trying to comfort him in the bar. Generally I don't mind Sheldon being an ass because thats just what his character is but there are sometimes when he shouldn't be that and this was one of them. Lastly I don't know what to feel about Raj. While I'm glad he wasn't being all mopey and woe is me, he didn't really look like he just got out of a long term relationship. Maybe because he didn't really love Emily? Who knows? Excited for the 200th!! Edited February 20, 2016 by Chocoholic
djsurrey Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I have seen it twice without even noticing which scene the line occurs in. I guess given the way season 9 is written it seems unremarkable to me that Penny would say our place.
Cherry Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 It happens when Bernadette is telling about the conception of the baby. In my opinion it was an OK episode, nothing more. Drunk Sheldon is boring - as expected -, Bernie's story about how they made the baby is creepy, Sheldon's make up is so childish. I didn't recognize the boy's songs, I recognized the girls' song in spite of the awful singing. The only moments I laughed were Bernie and Howie's freaking out, and Sheldon's singing that strange song ( BTW what was it? ) which has nothing to do with Berbie's pregnancy but he looks so convinced. Tripper Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 It was nice to see Sheldon being supportive of Howard, albeit in a drunken state. Even better, the joke about neat experiments didn't undercut Sheldon's respect for Howard. Is Shelowitz or Howdon a thing?

Etienne Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Quote I thought that Simon, Mayim and Jim have all sung much better in other episodes. I guess the idea what to mimic a karaoke night where people who shouldn't be allowed within 50 feet of a microphone, see themselves the equal of any professional singer. Surprisingly I thought Kaley actually did a better job that she has done before, maybe she's been getting lessons from her sister. Desdemona Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 What budges me is the fact, that Howardette did it while Sheldon was in the apartment as well right? I mean Bernadette said that he didn´t stop talking about time zones and train schedules, so she went to the bath where she met Howard. As far as I remember Sheldon has a Vulcan ear, so he should have noticed even the slightest noice coming from his bedroom. So he would have run into his bedroom and would have said: "Don´t you dare spread your not kosher sperms in my bed!" I guess it´s just another inconsistency of the writers to throw a joke in.
