3ku11
Just catching up on S9 today, and watched this ep for the first time ever. This show and continuity. The shock that Sheldon was arrested Did they forget he was in Traffic Court in S3, for a traffic fine driving Penny to the ER in Adhesive Duck? I mean are they that lazy lol? MY god this show and continuity maybe the WOAT. Gotta say though Bernadette with the Bear, my god one of the most adorable things I have ever seen on tv lol, so cute. Enjoyed the episode though. IT was something different, new location. Shows doing a good job in S9 in being more creative, then the god awful nothing new Season 8. I am not going to be a Sheldon apologist, and go oh Leonard should of known Sheldon would of blurted. Sheldon's social awareness has come a long way, he is responsible, and knew damn well what he was saying. As it is, it lead to a great scene between Lenny in some ways. PEnny telling Leonard how unhappy she is with her job. And this was the first ep Penny got hot again, her hair straitined out looks so much better imo. I was laughing my ass off, when Raj tried to get the bear out of the room, classic. And of course the dreaded inconsistencies between Lenny's finances. Clearly LEonard can bail Penny out. I just don't get why he would need to hide from her that he has a secret bank acc. Justbecause he does not trust Penny when it comes to money. I mean he has no problem buying her cars, paying her rent etc. Just seems marrages need to be traumatized by money. It is not neccessary. And I would like more time tfor LEonard to discuss Penny's misery. But you gottta understand, they ahd extended time for the Shamy scene. SO maybe the lack of communication si down to simply not enough screen time to develop? Anyway. Edited August 1, 2016 by 3ku11
Stephen Hawking
In the tag scene, Amy says "Never have I ever cancelled a dentist appointment." and Sheldon agrees he hasn't either. But, didn't Sheldon cancel a dentist appointment in The Friendship Contraction?

Another example of lack of continuity in this ep was that Leonard knows that Penny manages her money and has a financial adviser (her "guy"), which seems to have been forgotten. Very strongly agree there should have been more time for Lenny to discuss Penny's misery.

Capt. Hilts
My two important takeaways from this show are: How glad I am that the writers had the good sense to make Penny financially successful so it would not appear that she was marrying Leonard for financial security. When she was poor, the writers gave viewers a lot of tools - looking for free food/borrowing money - to come to the conclusion that her relationship with Leonard was one of two things - convenience [he's right across the hall] or for the money. So, I'm relieved they put her in the financial 'plus' column at the time of the marriage. The "Never have I ever" tag with Sheldon and Amy just underlined, to me, what sheltered, inexperienced, hot-house flowers they are. Thank goodness, for them, to have found Penny, Leonard, etc. and each other.

Sure there were moments when it added some humor to a storyline, like you said with the free food and wifi, but deep down there was something rather sad about it, I felt sad for her. It caused her great stress at times and that filtered to her relationships and friendships as well in the group. I was so glad and happy for her to see her quit acting and get a secure well paid job. I hope if they do look at her career again they find something that is perhaps more fulfilling for her but also has some financial security. Capt. Hilts
Jonny, I completely agree with your observations, here. When the writers depicted Penny as being successful - professionally and financially - as a pharmaceutical sales representative, it was the FIRST time they depicted her as being good at ANYTHING. As you point out so well, up until then, she was a failed actress, failed at picking guys to date, failed at her relationship with Leonard, lousy disinterested waitress. And that image of her made NO sense to me. I will, again, give the writers credit for depicting Penny as ignorant, but certainly not stupid. Those traits should have gotten her better outcomes in some aspects of her life. And I am so relieved they had her successful at something prior to marrying Leonard. Stephen Hawking
I'm quite shocked by the revelation about Penny. Not that that she used Sheldon's toothbrush to clean the sink, but rather the fact she cleaned the sink.
