In the scene with Beverly at Penny's with P, Bernadette & A, it was really rammed home that Bernadette is Penny's friend and Amy isn't. I wonder if this is going anywhere eventually.

Yeah sure.   I didn't see it that way at all and I'm sure it wasn't meant to be seen that way either.

If Amy wasn't Penny's friend, why would Penny hang Amy's painting (and come up with an explanation for removing it), rather than simply tell her it''s hideous?

Also, from the same episode:-

Penny: Look, look, Amy, all you need to know is, you are my friend and I don’t want to lose you out of my life.

Penny doesn't realise Amy is not her friend. This is a defect of Penny's understanding.

Absolutely not.

Amy was the reason I started watching, and the main reason I'm still watching.

Amy was the reason really? Lol. Sorry not laughing at you, but that is ironical. Because alot of people tuned out of the show moment her character was introduced. I like Amy, so she diddn't put me off the show. But I guess I have been watching since the pilot. So I diddn't watch for one character, well maybe Penny :icon_redface:.

Does Amy realize she is not Penny's friend lol? Sorry not getting your logic. Maybe Amy should put Penny out of her misery, and tell her were not actually Friends honey .

No, a lot of people didn't tune out.  If you are going to make a statement like this you should back it up with data.

There is no data for this, skull's statement is just flat out wrong.    TBBT suffered a drop in season four (after her introduction in the tag), mostly due to it's move to Thursday, a night CBS, traditionally did not have sit-coms.  American Idol was still bigger than anything else at the time, which cut into viewership.  Since season four, every season has had more viewers than season three.  I have no idea where skull get's this claim.

It's anecdotal evidence at best - as in: Some people on the internet scream the show was better in S1-3 and bash S4+ because girls have cooties or something.

The face and the hands. Kaley has very expressive hand movements.  She's Italian, of course she does.

She (and Johnny, as a matter of fact) do/does this cute thing with her/his hands-a sort of fidgeting-when speaking. Watch in both the "have you ever heard of  Schrödinger's cat" and "you know I love you, so will you relax, you're driving me crazy" scenes....

There is a piece of tape out their with Judd Hirsch describing his meeting Johnny (when Johnny asked him to play his father).  What Hirsch described, was Johnny fidgeting, moving his feet, he kept looking around, not at Hirsch, and as a result, some of what Johnny said was hard to hear.  Hirsch's description of Johnny, and the way he acted out Johnny's talking to him, sounded a lot like Leonard.

Amy's idea of friendship is purely possessive; she wants to claim Penny as her "bestie" but does not care for her (or anyone, except debatably Sheldon). Penny should judge from Amy's actions. Open your eyes, Penny!

Come on! KC is a unique talent. She makes Penny enchanting not because of her "Italian heritage" or her good looks, but through her ACTING.

Come on. Her hand movements are a part of her acting, part of the Penny she has brought to life.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood.

When JohnPhD said Bernadette is Penny's friend, but Amy isn't, I thought he was saying Penny doesn't like Amy.

Amy got her a $3,000, 12 square foot painting.

That's quite a gift, to get for someone, who isn't your friend.

Do I need to spell this out: in the scene I referred to, Penny was trying to bond withBeverly, but Beverly showed more intrest in Amy and Bernadette. Bernadette kept trying to bring Beverly's attention to Penny (showing she was Penny's friend) whereas Amy just lapped it up (showing she wasn't).

It was established long ago that that hideous painting was more an act of aggression than of real friendship.
