Tensor
This thread will be a bridge between season 9 and season 10. If you have ideas, questions or comments about, season 10, please put them here. This will be treaded like a season discussion thread. Since all the shows in the season have been aired, spoilers are allowed. We are currently looking at starting the season 10 forum around mid-June. So please, until the that forum is opened, keep season 10 discussions here in this thread. Either they "make it that far into the ceremony" or "the events of the night before with Leonard's dad and Sheldon's mom start to derail that." Great! Which scenario is more likely with these writers? Edited May 13, 2016 by luminous typo
SRAM
I really like Leonard's father and when you put him against Leonard's mother you can see the 'yin yang' that is Leonard's life. Leonard's father explains the question why Leonard didn't grow up to be a woman hating serial killer. I hope we see more of him on the show in season 10. Which scenario is more likely with these writers? Well, with the aftermath of whatever happened between Malfred, how Beverly and their sons will react to it and the introduction of some members of Penny's family, there's stuff to fill more than a single episode, TBH. I think that the ideal way to deal with all of it and having a full ceremony (plus all the comic things that in general happen during sit-com ceremonies) is with two back-to-back episodes. I don't know if it will be possible given the budget required or if the (5/6??) guest actors needed will be available so long. If it's just an episode, my guess is that we'll see at most few brief highlights of the actual ceremony (maybe possibly Penny's father giving the bride away and the things that weren't shown during the live streaming, like the I do's), but the core of the episode will be devoted to all the parents and the weird things going on among them. Jonny
I read one interview that said Season 10 will carry on straight after Season 9 (you would assume the day after because of a wedding re-do) but then another interview said that's not set in stone and they might skip it forward some time. So which do we think it is? The only reason I could really see them jumping forward in time is probably because of the Bernadette pregnancy storyline and to advance it, for example she was supposed to have been pregnant for months and yet no bump? But if they skip it forward then will we not see a Lenny re-do in all its glory?

If all of them are game for the premiere, then there will be no time jump in that episode (but I guess that there will be a time jump soon after the wedding redo to progress Bernie's pregnancy). If something goes wrong with that (I think they have already booked the actors but some hitch might happen) and one or more of the guest star can't make it, then they will be kind of forced to change plans. That might be the reason why Molaro said that at the moment it is "not set in stone"... Edited May 13, 2016 by mirs1
Tensor
You have Keith who has a recurring role on Madam Secretary, Christine who is in negotiations for a Good Wife spin off, Both of those contracts would control, so if those shows need them, they would be unavailable to TBBT. Not sure about Laurie, or Judd. Then you would have whoever they cast as Penny's Mother and brother. Which would be easier, unless the actors they pick have other commitmants. But then they shouldn't pick them in the first place. This is why it's tricky to bring in family members, actor availability is always a question. I suppose they could explain their absence. Beverly or Alfred left because of the other was there, Wyatt (or Penny's family) didn't show up because of something that happened on the farm, etc.

Tensor
Not likely. You have, not only the actors, but the rest of the unions (writers guild, electrical, lighting, art direction, director's guild, etc) to deal with, that would all have to give their approval
MTBigBangTheoryFan
Hoping we hear something in the next few months if there will be a 11th Season or not. Hope we get something at next week Upfront or by next week Upfront It seem likely there will be at least one more after Season 10 and the way this season kind of slowed down a little and last night final seem to indicate Season 10 won't be the last Most of the cast said they continue beyond Season 10 but with a Child now being added some may have changed their mind

I can imagine Mary and Alfred being late to the wedding because they were together somewhere and everyone's waiting for them until they give up, and out of nowhere they appear together and everyone's staring with Beverly starting a fight. Aftet all, they didn't seem to care that much about the effort Leonard and Penny went into for them, with Beverly interrupting Alfred's toast and Alfred just up and leaving in the middle of dinner. Ironically, Mary was the one who seemed to care the most, at least until she left with Alfred. 1 hour ago, MTBigBangTheoryFan said: Hoping we hear something in the next few months if there will be a 11th Season or not. Tensor
Some have said they don't like working with babies, but I haven't seen anywhere them saying they wouldn't want to continue, just because there will be a baby on set.
Jonny
Like I said on a thread a month or so back perhaps you might not even see the baby, just hear it like we saw with Howard's mother. I can't see the actors quitting the show even if they hate kids honestly, I can think of a million reasons why for some. Going back to the negotiation stuff as I know nothing about it, is it possible they will negotiate with the cast during the break to do more series? I know they have an option to do a series 11, is that for all the cast? Or do they tend to negotiate as Season 10 is filming?

They would wnat to have a good finale season if it the last and wrap up the show nicely. It was announced that HIMYM Season 9 would be it last a year in advance and TAAHM was announced 8 Months in advance. jasonz
I felt that season 9 was written very poorly. I'd love to see the show continue but I'd hate to see a continual deterioration of the show so that it only fed off of the quality of previous seasons. The cast is huge and I can see the need to split it up. Sheldon is extremely popular (and my favortie character) but there seemed be too much Sheldon focus in season 9 and too little on some of the other characters. There was too much fake feeling relationship drama and not enough 'funny' for me in season 9, there never seemed to be any real tension, especially toward the end of the season, I missed the science, I disliked the direction taken with some of the characters, Raj, Creepy Stewart, even Amy at the beginning of the season. Angry, Sad Amy just wasn't funny to me and I disliked that the writers did that to her character. I'm hoping that the 10th season gets its 'funny' back, but it feels like the writers are done with the show.
Carm6773
So, Platonic Permutation, Earworm, and Opening Night were "written very poorly"? I'll agree that the second half of the season wasn't as good as the first half, but I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. In reference to Amy at the beginning of the season... the writers were trying to show that she was struggling with the breakup just as much as Sheldon, even though it was her idea. She knew she needed to assert herself and the relationship would be better for it; however, she was unsure if it would backfire and she would lose him forever. Add in the fact that most of her friends are mutual... she didn't want to make them feel uncomfortable and force them to choose between her and Sheldon. That's why I think she was angry and sad.
