Fall TV's First Scoops: A Grey's Baby,Vampire Diaries' New Big Bad and More Early Intel From 18 Returning Series

THE BIG BANG THEORY

Don't expect Bernadette to give birth this fall on the CBS hitcom. Considering that the Season 1 premiere will pick up right where May's finale left off, Melissa Rauch's expectant alter ego will "still only be a few months in," points out showrunner Steve Molaro, who admits he has no interest in accelerating this particular storyline. "We're taking it slow," he says. "The plan is to just let it roll out like a regular pregnancy."

^ Sounds to me like the plan is similar to what we saw in S9 - starting where the finale left off and then making a few leaps here and there through the in-universe summer/early-autumn, with Bernie's growing baby bump as a visual indicator of how much time passed, until they've caught up with whatever real life holiday they want to use a as backdrop (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas...).

Maybe we may infer from that all the uncertainties about the guest stars schedule for the premiere have been solved and so...redo it is! As for Bernie, I'm pretty sure by the third episode at most her baby bump will appear, it will be our "sign" for the time jump!

Sadly I´m still thinking that the season will start in 4A and everyone is talking about how sweet and wonderful the redo was.

Like that but I would would put sweet and wonderful at the beginning and sadly before "the redo was".

If there is going to be no time jump then I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be showing the re-do in episode one. The only logical reason to do a time jump really was if they couldn't get some of the guest actors to be there or if they really wanted to skip forward a bit in terms of the Bernadette pregnancy.

Any word on when the new season will begin taping?

If I remember correctly, on the London CC Kunal said that they are supposed to return to work on August 3rd, so I assume the first taping will be on August 9th. Two months guys, we can make it...

I also heard Kunal say he was going back to work on the 3rd. Does anybody know if they do three straight weeks in August? I am in LA on August 23rd and was hoping to see a taping. But if they are back in work on the 3rd, doing 10x01 on the 9th, I wonder if their week off will be that of the 23rd :-(

They did three consecutive weeks last August but not sure if they always do that.

No they didn't.

Sheldon didn't miss how Leonard makes a face on his toaster waffle, with syrup.

Nor did Sheldon miss the way Leonard fixed the zipper on his jacket, when it got stuck.

He didn't even miss how they said good night to each other, through the walls of their bedrooms, using Morse code.

:icon_biggrin:

Well you said they. Penny missed him alot. She even said so "God I miss Leonard". Maybe Sheldon was in denial haha, but Penny definatley missed Leonard. Hence why she dumped Sheldon like a bad fish, when the man returned :D.

General question... So I'll ask it here. Any new news on S11?  Been really busy lately, and haven't been able to keep up with the forum. Saw a few articles on Twitter where they took a quote from Kunal and were speculating on S10 being the end. I really hope it's just speculation!

If I remember correctly CBS has an option on season 11 which the cast is contractually obligated to.

Kunal may be druming up fan interest in more seasons as a negotiations ploy. Get the fans vocal about  wanting more before they sit down about new contracts, if they aren't allready at the table

Thought there was something about Melissa and Mayim's contracts ending. Kunal made it seem like it was a possibility of s10 being the end, that after that nothing was definate.  The articles were just speculatve, to get clicks, no real sources. You would think something would be announced soon.

After ten or eleven seasons the future of the show (ratings, ad revenue, profitability, etc.) Become much more... iffy? With the original five at a million an episode the show is much more expensive to produce and profit margins become much tighter. So things like the length of the contract become more important, I don't think this will be a quick deal when negotiations begin

My fear isn't the money as I think the show must be making a shit ton of revenue right now with the show being as popular as it is and they will pay up after negotiations. What would concern me more is if a particular actor just wants out probably to focus on new projects such as movies which is perfectly plausible.

A valid point, but as for expenses/profits if the sign a new deal for 3 years say seasons 11/12/13 and during 11 ratings start to slip, then ad rates for 12 go down so less profit or those seasons bring in less in syndication fee again less profit.

As a business they find other ways to cut cost to bring up profit. This has a ripple effect.

Season 3 of ST:TOS the budget was cut so almost all the episodes take place entirely on the ship no money for location shoots that limits story possibilities. Same with guest stars those cost money to, Or even wardrobe Your right that at this time profits are good but it dosent take much to start a downward spiral which effects show quality which causes lower ratings lather, rinse, repeat

Basically it's a gamble and how much they are willing to bet

The hiatus more or less coincides with the gap between one academic year and the next. So what happens to those of our characters who're employed by the university ? Do they have to go into work during the long vac ? Is it just students who have the time off ? When Dr Gabelhauser made Sheldon take his unused vacation days the others were at work. I suppose research doesn't just stop.

Yes, the research doesn't stop, plus none of them teaches (not even Sheldon, at the moment) so their works are not effected by the academic year. I guess in their contracts there is a certain number of vacation days and they eventually use some of them (a week or two) to go on holidays over the summer. But we may assume they work during most of the hiatus.

I actually hope S10 is less Relationship Centric. But maybe that ship has sailed. WE the couples are together. Just for the next two years just do nothing but light hearted, fluffy comedy. Then last episode you can be all relationship you want.
