If you are talking about the information in the article you quoted,  I think it's highly unreliable; for example it states the show will start on October 27th, which is false, at the Upfronts last month it has been already announced that the show will start on Mondays and then it will move on Thursdays ( October 27th is a Thursday) after some sport event ends. So I'm inclined in not believing also to the "rumor" they quoted in it.

If you are speaking about the possibility some actors quit after Season 10 by their own volition or to reduce production costs, I don't think it will happen in a possible S. 11. When the main 5 signed their last contracts, they also signed an option on S. 11; if WB/CBS want a S.11, the actors are contractually obliged to do it (I guess they can quit, but the penalties should be pretty high) at the same salary they earn in S. 10. Most likely, also Mayim and Melissa have updated their contracts with the same option. So, IMO, up to S. 11 everything should be already fixed. I think they haven't announced the new season just yet because there are negotiations going on for a new multi-years deal, and I guess theoretically everything is possible with those negotiations. But I don't know if cutting two of the main characters could be a good idea, it will reduce the costs for sure, but it could also reduce the audience and hence the profit of the show.

Mirs, it was reported that there was an option, in the contracts, for another season and that was my working hypothesis for the last couple of years.   However, recent comments by multiple cast and producers have me wondering.   Kunal stated he doesn't have a contract after season 10.   Molaro (I know, we don't normally trust him, but this isn't a plot point) said his current assumption is that season 10 will be the end, although he does see a way.  Kaley said there would be a season 11 if she has anything to say about it.

While Johnny is the quiet type (Hi spaced :blind:) he is the only cast member that I can't find a comment about continuing after season 10 (there may be one, I just haven't seen it, so if someone knows about such a comment, please feel free to correct me.).  This is not to say that I think he will leave, just that I haven't heard such a comment from him.

Kaley says at several tapings that she wants to do more seasons. (And if I remember correct, she also said all the casts members want more seasons once) So neither she nor Johnny is leaving IMO. Even if they want to leave, the show will probably do anything it could to keep them. Leonard and Penny are the core of the show. I think a large majority of the audience will stop watching if they are out.

As for season 11, this might be an unpopular opinion but I really hope season 10 is the last season. I want the show and its canons to end on a relatively high note. The writers clearly don't know how to write couples once they're settled. I want the show to end before the writers do something stupid and permanently ruin the couples for me...

I guess you’re right, but I hope you’re not…:shy:

Wasn't it CBS at the up-fronts saying that they weren't done with the show in fact far from it? They can't have just been purely stating the obvious by talking about there being just one more season left in the contract, there must have been more to it than that.

Just because they say they aren't done with it, they still have agree to licensing fees and actors salaries. Let's face it, Melissa and Mayim are way below the others.

Is CBS and or Warner Brothers going to commit 7 million to salary?  Are they even willing to commit 5 million?  Are the first five willing to take a cut and or the last two willing to take a smaller raise?

Is Warner Brothers willing to take a lower license fee from CBS, knowing they will make up some of it in syndication?  Will Warner Brothers willing to take less back end profit, by increasing the actors points, to cover a lower CBS salary?

How long are the actors willing to commit?  How long is CBS?  Warner Brothers?    What happens if CBS has two breakout hits next year( not likely, but bear with me). Does this change the situation?  What if one f the actors gets a multi picture contract( and not necessarily as an actor, but producer)?

There are a lot of particulars that have to be decided before anyone agrees to this.

Personally, I have started to feel a bit bored with TBBT as a format so I need a cast change at least. For me, Raj should go.Kunal is a fine actor and he could try lots of new things, even some serious roles but Raj is over.My ideal senario is that Raj leaves, Lenny moves out and Sheldon gets a new young fresh face as a flatmate. He could be a foreigner aswell and we could maybe see cultural differences...

I disagree.

Imagine them trying to live in the same apartment.

It'd be

I'm saving that for the spin-off, 'Shamy', which will have them moving into their own house after they find they need  a house with a bathroom and study each.

So that they can introduce a new actor to the show. That was the point of my post.

Sorry. I didn't realize that was what you were suggesting.

Mind you, a new character doesn't have to apartment share with an existing character.

He/she could maybe work with/for them.

I know that but I still feel like unless the new person is somehow quite close (not just a colleague) to an existing character,we wouldn't get much of them and that defies the purpose of replacing someone like Raj which is what I suggested. In reality of course,I don't actually expect them to send away anyone.I think I'll just have to walk away myself at some point.Unfortunately, although I've been watching since 2008,I don't see me sticking  around.

Perhaps he could sublet Amy's flat while she tries out life with Sheldon in 4a or takes over 4b.

Certainly, but you don't usually become friendly with the new resident of your old apartment for no reason.

Maybe they have a shared interest.

Maybe he's a neurobiologist.

Or, maybe he fancies Amy, but doesn't admit to it, and hangs out with the gang, looking to pinch Amy from Sheldon.

That way, if, at some point, the writers decide they want to get rid of the character, they can have Amy find out, and tell him he has no chance, because she is, and always will be, in love with Sheldon.

Despondent, he leaves LA, never to return.

ETA: Have I just written an outline for a fanfic? :scratchhead:

Or maybe there would be no need to replace Raj in an already crowded cast or perhaps no one leaves.

If that kind of change is needed for you to keep watching I doubt you'll be around next season

That's right, D.W. you don't, which is why I thought a sublet would work. You do usually know the person to whom you're subletting, especially if it's on a possibly temporary basis.

Great idea, S.H. for it to be another neurobiologist, one who fancies Amy.

I honestly believe that none of the cast is leaving and that they are not going to bring in any other semi-regulars.  They already have too many stories to tell....L/P...S/A...B/H....R and ?...

If S10 is the last, they have a lot to wrap up very quickly.  IF S10 isn't the last, they still have a lot to wrap up, but have the time to do it justice.

One can imagine an issue of costs.

Well if it came down costs and them wanting to get rid of a cast member then Raj would be the prime candidate out of any of them. That's not me saying that I want Raj to go or any of the cast for that matter, but I think a legitimate case can be made he's the least vital to the show. He doesn't have the relationship bond that the others have to a significant other.

He has a bond with the rest of the characters.  If you go back to the beginning it was Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj.  Just because the show has become more relationship focused, I don't see why thy would break up the core of the show.
