He has a bond with the rest of the characters.  If you go back to the beginning it was Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj.  Just because the show has become more relationship focused, I don't see why thy would break up the core of the show.

I don't think they would (and I don't want to see it) either, we are just talking hypothetically here.

Honestly speaking for the last few seasons Raj hasent really been an important part of the show his plots including Emily have been low key and often felt tacked on just to give him screentime the show could carry-on as is if he went back to India the same can't be said for the other 6 and that would save a million of production costs if that's what TPTB wanted to do.

Nothing against kunal but Raj has really just become superfluous

Really he was a sidekick for Howard but Howard has Bernadette now. For that matter Now that Howard and Bernadette are expecting they could move away and give more screen time for Leonard and Penny.

True but Howard has  over the years become almost on level with the big three as far as story goes quite capable of carrying his own very funny story lines. Raj has over the years become more unlikable by the season. Howard and Bernie would be missed both in story and as funny much loved charecters. Raj is just a distraction in a 18-20 minute show with a large cast he can be funny at times but he dosent really impact the story except as related to the others, mostly Howard his stand alone story are just filler to put him on screen because they have to it seems

I wish they'd bring back Martha.

Maybe they could match her up with Stuart.

Imagine Amy finding out Sheldon went on two dates with Martha.

Forget Jelly Shelly. We'd have apoplectic Amy.

I really liked Martha, whatever little screen time she had. She was so beautiful, smart, fun and she was fascinated by Sheldon's Green Lantern lantern. She was willing to play guitar hero on their first date and talk about flatlands on their second date. Also totally willing to sleep with Sheldon on their second date. Ha !

Of course next season nobody in the main cast is leaving and on the contrary I think there will be a contraction in the recurring characters. Kripke will be not around, since JRB got his own sit-com and I hope the Emily-Claire conundrum will be solved in the very first part of the season. As for further seasons, I don't see a change in the main cast either. If it's true that there is an option on S. 11, nothing will change cast-wise that season. If that's not true, I kind of think in an "all of nothing" kind of negotiation. I mean, it's very risky to change the format in the last\last couple of seasons for a show that has been already on the air for so long. I really think that, especially  if one of the main three wants to leave, the network could seriously contemplate the idea of ending the show, rather than risking it to sink ratings-wise.

The format has changed. At the beginning all four guys were single. Now two are married and even Sheldon has a ring he may give his girlfriend. Unlike the Simpsons they are all getting older. I think you are right in there are the main three. Beyond them there are probably trade-offs (just meaning there may be a limit to what will be paid).

Didn´t Simon and Kunal get a "take it or leave it offer" in the last contract negotiation.

I could be wrong, starting to getting old. :icon_biggrin:

You know the way to fix Raj and make his more character more likable again is simply find him someone to be with and settle down. Problem is that adding a new cast member costs money so it's best for the show to have Raj the bachelor having a different relationship or two every season but it's not best for the character.

I know. She was perfect for Sheldon.

At least until Amy arrived. :)

IMO, Raj's relationships, with both Emily and Claire, have been tainted.

I'd prefer to see him with someone completely new, or maybe someone from his past, ie. Lucy.

They could also simply give him a proper character arc for once. Start out the season with both girls dumping him and then send him down the road of character growth with allowing him some introspection about how he's been an insufferable d-bag lately. And instead of pairing him up again immediately maybe he'll stay single for a while and perhaps concentrating on becoming a better person/friend by helping Howardette with the baby or whatever, and then towards the end of the season (series?) they could match him up with someone that fits his character so that he also gets a bit of a happy ending. Or something like that.

Or maybe there would be no need to replace Raj in an already crowded cast or perhaps no one leaves.

If that kind of change is needed for you to keep watching I doubt you'll be around next season

I didn't say there will be a need,I just said this is what I would like.Idk,I have started to feel a bit estranged with the show rather than bored.Does this even make sense?I don't know how to explain it:p I am here now in the forums because classes are over and I am trying to return to the fandom I guess.I refuse to let go lol

I don't see him with Lucy again because the way they broke up seemed cruel to Raj and after he hooked up with Emily he didn't seem to care about her.

I agree that Emily has been ruined by the writers, she started out a strong character, then was made way too creepy, almost like a secret serial killer, then they made her desperate and needy when Raj wanted to break up with her.  I think in season 10 she might even become an exgirlfriend type stalker.

Claire doesn't seem like someone who would be looking to Raj for a long term relationship, she seems like someone who just wants to date him and have fun, then move on when the fun is over.  The unemotional way she got back with her boyfriend and then broke up again, and the way she admitted the had a spark to Raj, does make it seem she is not a very emotional person and will break his heart without regret.

That only leaves the vet, if you want someone from his recent past.  She did seem to like him and they did have dogs in common, plus she seems like a strong character, which Raj seems to need.  Also she scares Leonard and Penny and I don't think she would take much from Sheldon, so maybe she would be an interesting new dynamic in the group.

I don't think lonely and unloved Raj is funny anymore, too much like Stuart, so whatever the writers do, I hope they don't keep him single very long next season or at all.  I would prefer him as an asshole playboy than a pathetic, crying, unloved loser he has been portrayed like before.

I have to disagree, if this is the last season TPTB have a lot of things to clear up/settle/accomplish to tie up the couples story's both personal and professional.

Raj's charecter is to much of a mess to fix in that short time and the time is better spent on the ones who actually have stories as opposed to the large amount of screentime would take to "fix' Raj. His charecter given the limited time both in each episode and  a season is lost. Best to just have mommy arrange a marriage and send him home so they can work on the others happily ever after. IMO

Wasent their talk with the contract signings last timing. Simon and Kunal were close to not signing? So maybe that may suggest outside the big 3. They could do the show without Simon or Kunal. I am not saying i want that to happen. But for the sake of whats cost effective. IF push came to shove...

As I understand the original 5 signed a contract with an option for season 11.  So if TPTB say they are exercising that option, the 5 will do season 11 at the same pay rate as season 10.  There will be no negotiation and no pay disputes, unless they want to protest the contract they committed to.  Season 12 would be the season where negotiation would be required and it would be the risky season depending on what the actors want in compensation to continue.

The writers seemed to drop the whole Yvette the vet story line, which was unfortunate.  They could easily bring her back though.  Raj just needs to bring Cinnamon in for a checkup.

I liked Lucy at the time she and Raj dated when they both had social anxiety quirks.  I never cared for Emily with Raj.  She would have been a better match for Howard in his pre-Bernadette days since he didn't have a type and probably would have been okay with her creepiness.

The only problem is that Raj needs an unusual girlfriend. If otherwise, he would be just like Leonard and Howard. I think Lucy was just too similar to Raj for it to have any "long playing" possibilities. The fact that Emily had a creepy/dangerous side is still (in my opinion) worth exploring. Even Sheldon has touched on the fact that it was only a matter of time until Emily caused Dr. K harm.  I'm not sure about the reasoning for the entry of Claire into things. I would be surprised if she turned out to be a keeper.  I am also uncertain as to the future appearances of Emily.  Laura Spencer has been quiet on social media as to career things concerning both TBBT and Bones.  Time will tell....

No we can't send Sheldon to India lol

Raj is my least favorite character but that not why I say send him home he is not important to the show anymore he isn't very well liked by most fans he makes very little impact on the story in general or to any couple including Howerdette in this hypothetical cost cutting move he save the most money while causing the least impact by leaving

In fact it gives more screentime to devote to finishing the actual stories. Send him home to an arranged marriage and drop a line every once in awhile about how he is doing, he gets a "happy ending" with minimal fuss
