Going out on a limb here and say that since on all accounts everybody went into these negotiations in good faith wanting this to work out TPTB won't be dropping one of the cast to save costs nor will anybody play the big diva and quit because they didn't get some unreasonable pay raise. The goal is to find a price tag that works for everyone. Sure, it'll be difficult but it's not impossible at all.

And yes, sure, a lot of things could happen in theory. In theory they could film an episode that has Lorre blow up the apartment building yelling "Bazinga!" which turns the gang into a bunch of radioactive zombies - but is it a likely scenario? Not really. The thing about dramatic changes in the main cast of a show is that often it involves some BTS drama - like TAAHM, Castle would also be a recent example, or Sleepy Hollow. So far nothing of that sorts has surfaced from TBBT (not from reliable sources anyway). In fact what we hear from everybody who's ever worked on this show or met these people it's a constant clamour of how great the cast and crew get along, how nice and welcoming they've been, and how dedicated they are to the show. Furthermore, as said earlier in this thread, it's not like any of those actors has a bunch of $50million movie deals somewhere waiting for them. 1 or 2 more years of steady income in this fickle business certainly wouldn't be an unwanted development - especially for Mayim and Melissa who haven't really gotten their big slice of the pie yet as compared to the others.

So again, IMO, it'll probably be all or nothing.

This far out my guess is that there will be changes in casting if it continues. The three they need to keep it recognisable as the same show are Jim, Kaley and Johnny. Perhaps it could persist for years if there is a reboot and other newer characters are brought in. It is just hard for me to imagine letting go of such a successful series if there is any path foreword that might still work.

I'd watch a spinoff with just the girls, and occasional appearances from Sheldon and Howard. I remember watching 10X02 and 10X03 and having Season 5/6 flashbacks of 'Man, the girls together are just so much more fun than the guys'. They each play off each other in different ways: Bernie scares Penny, Amy used to worship Penny but is now brutal and hilariously unhelpful during social crises, Penny shepherds/mother-hens them all but is also quick with the side-eye. The guys' dynamic has gotten a little musty, what with the show's insistence on having Sheldon be the nutbar one whom everyone has to exasperatedly accommodate.

ETA: Obviously, this is not to slam the guys, or gang-together episodes (show, the time's running out to have gang-together episodes before Howardette Minor arrives!), but just to say that if we are talking spinoff with a subset of characters, a spinoff with the girls is the one I'd watch.

Good point about 10.02. The "nutbar" was just ridiculous. Could have been entirely omitted and the rest could have landed the whole show. The girls rocked it. The boys were funny enough without the pantomime villain.

I like the present format and it's clearly the one I hope they stick with going forward.

But I would totally agree that if there was to be a hypothetical spinoff with say just the girls or just the boys the girl format would be so much better. Those Penny/Amy/Bernadette scenes have been some of the best scenes on the show/small group focused scenes in recent years, who can forget Troll or Bakersfield? They can be funny, sweet, comedic or drama based and they have such great chemistry and play off so well with each other.

Which brings up a point that I have felt for a while that the guys seem to have forgotten how to have fun. Far too much bitching, moaning and snark when they get together on the rare occasions these days. How I long for them to do something fun together (also would like to see full group activities a lot more as well). Where has the paintball gone? What about gaming nights as a group? How about doing other fun group activities like a bowling night? On a side note Sheldon and Leonard's relationship seems to have fallen off a cliff.

Don't get me wrong I am loving Season 10 overall but those are mostly couples storylines right now but I also would like to see some fun group stuff more again to balance it out, it has been a while.

Yeah, come on guys. Let’s fence against an old boring and unfunny sit-com. :shy:

after watching Lenny's running commentary on the shamy argument in the tag scene of the cohabitation episode, I am now jonesing for an episode where the gang watches a film or tv show and subjects it to meticulous and painful analysis. The whole gang, coming at it from different angles: The girls objecting to plot threads that the guys have swallowed whole-cloth out of love of the source material (cf Raiders Minimisation), arguments over what does and doesn't make sense (cf Bakersfield and 'can werewolves swim?'), unlikely alliances, unlikely enmities and the tag scene can have each couple relitigating some random bit of the episode. Hey, the show does revisit older jokes. Why not this one?

I am not sure I neccessarily agree Sheldon and Leonard's relationship has derailed. In 10x03, Sheldon did rest his head on Leonard's shoulder. So clearly their is still a closeness their. I think it is realistic, that the couples moan about each other some times. The show sure does love those gags, and that type of comedy. I don't think it is detrimental or anything. Yeah group activities be great. But the characters seem so busy with their individual stuff atm.

It's not completely derailed (poor choice of words by me in the previous post when I said 'fallen off a cliff' - a tad of an over exaggeration) but I do think it has lost some major spark. In those episodes it was more a kind of parental thing with Sheldon and Leonard or a brotherly thing to do, not really a sign a friendship imo.

More fun, less moan and snark I would like to see between them.

@Vittoria Jacoel
The way Kunal talks about it it seems nothing has been decided yet:

You're right!I only hope that they continue because I love this series very much![emoji169]
But If you want my opinion they continue the series because has very high ratings(it s always N1),the actors want to continue and CBS and WB (my opinion)doesn't end a series that give millions, millions dollars!I know that there will be difficulties but I hope that they want to continue![emoji4]

True, it was also largely the usual spiel about how much they are enjoying working together, quality of the writing, a mention about how successful it is etc.

The most interesting line I thought was Kunal's comment about not wanting to have to go through auditioning again for work. This highlights really how much of a stable job they have had all these years and could be a large factor in possibly the cast committing to further seasons especially if all the cast feel the same as Kunal. These are some of the highest paid TV actors in the world are they really going to get much better elsewhere and leave that relatively high (compared to a lot of TV shows) job security?

I have seen a few articles recently talking about the big three wanting another raise but it's not from any concrete sources and I saw another that said Kaley might not want to do anymore, but that was rehashing one of her US TV chat shows interviews a while back and if you watched that she never said that really.

I remain optimistic overall though my mind would be more at ease if we learnt sooner rather than later. It's such a global mega success still that I think it would take something spectacular for it to go wrong behind the scenes in the negotiations and that they decide to end it on a high.

As said before, having a steady job as an actor that not only pays well but you also love doing because it is a lot of fun is like winning the lottery. You don't easily give up on that unless there's either something terribly wrong behind the scenes or you have options for other profitable/interesting projects lined up already.

I've seen those, too, and they didn't even bother including a reliable source. It sounds like they're really just rehashing old rumours.
