[Spoilers] Discussion: Season 10

In all the confusion I have I am blessed to have my beautiful Lenny thread. But on top of that I want to thank for all the encouragements of the other shipmembers. It reminds me that we all are one fangroup-family. And it is certainly  heart warming in these cold days as a Lenny. Thanks to all. And maybe things will turn out well!

The three I suggested remind me of Sheldon and sometimes Amy. Only one of the characters is a grumpy old man. That's Victor but his neighbour is a grumpy young one, even more like Sheldon. I thought since you'd been a TBBT fan you might like them. I'm sure the TBBT writers sometimes borrow the scripts to look for ideas. Hot in Cleveland, Nurse Jackie, Joey and Frasier are the only US sitcoms I've seen and none of those are BBT-ish so I didn't mention them. I like those you mention except Milligan, but nothing before 1957  feels like a classic to me. :) Have you seen Lillyhammer ?

Not Seen it, my favourite US was Cheers, The Spike Milligan Q series I watched was in the seventies.  The British sitcoms I named I loved was because like TBBT they were an ensemble which they never lost with the main cast, which is why I've lost patience with this group, I have better things to do. Still love L/P but it's not worth watching anymore unless you like the GTB.

The Big Bang Theory boss: Baby Wolowitz won't 'drastically alter the DNA' of show

Baby Wolowitz’s arrival is nigh!

During The Big Bang Theory’s winter finale, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) head to the hospital for the birth of their child. But in true Big Bang Theory fashion, the baby’s arrival won’t be without a few hiccups.

“Howard’s a pretty neurotic little guy,” executive producer Steve Molaro tells EW. “I don’t think he has the situation firmly in hand, but he’s doing this best. He also has the help of Koothrappali [Kunal Nayyar] and Stuart [Kevin Sussman], which is a double-edged sword.” (more in the link)

Darn it, the clip was so close to the Lenny kiss but it cuts to Shamy. :icon_cheesygrin:

I found it particularly interesting when they said the whole baby arrival might 'jump start' Raj in regards to sorting out and advancing his own life. Well I have been bitten before into thinking Raj might get some real growth. I will need to actually see it to believe it Steve!

Yeah, that caught my eye, too. So far 2 episodes later still nothing. Maybe next year??

I think he was simply referring to Raj getting mad in the waiting room at the hospital because all his friends have accomplished something and he feels left behind. But after a while, when Howard asks him to be Halley's godfather he calms down. I don't see a long term plan for Raj behind Molaro's words...

You are probably right, it jump started something in Raj for like a moment and then quickly passed.

Yeah. It was what I got too. But imo it would be a shame if they don't  do anything about this character in second part of the season. But I have no hope about that, tbh...

Well I'm not surprised that TPTB went there with Lenny. Like I said yesterday on here, nothing the writers do to Lenny shocks me anymore. Since that interview where molaro admitted they love writing angst Lenny, I totally gave up on any sweetness when Lenny do have a story. The long running joke is in the background, all is good but on the front line. Issues seem to come out from nowhere that never existed or hinted on before.
First we had Penny not happy with her job which got brushed under the carpet.
Now we have her not happy with her relationship. What next. Divorce. I think this is a cliff hanger to get people talking and bring them back for the second half of the show. I'm not going to bitch about the plot cause like I said. No surprise there. But I would say that every episode I watch these days I take with a pinch of salt. I refuse to let TPTB ruin my life.

I would take things with a pinch of salt if I could. The problem with TBBT is that it would be so much salt that by now I 'd be in the hospital. The doctors have prohibited me from consuming salt since I have a bad case of hypertension.

Even though I'm Shamy, I've always disliked the Relationship Agreement. Its strict rules seemed really offensive to me especially since it was so one-sided at first. I agree without it their relationship would have never started at all probably since it brought Sheldon comfort while he was a flight risk, but I still really disliked it!

That said, this Lenny's 'RA' thing doesn't feel like Shamy RA at all. I'm sure it will be stuff like Leonard promising to work out at least 3 times a week or Penny promising to actually listen when he's speaking about his job and all that. You know, normal stuff. It's kind of canon Leonard ignores working out and Penny doesn't often listen to what he has to say so to me it sounded like RA would be just kind of pointing out stuff like that... Them trying to give more attention to each other and be better for each other. I don't think there will be any 'punishments' or anything 'forbidden' (or something silly only)

Just a bystander's point of view.

That said, I'm happy for some PAmy time!
And that the writers are finding ways to make the baby storyline nerdy/science-y

Thank you so much @shamyyellow for the detailed TR! And for being brave enough to share a TR for a controversial episode knowing some people might not be too crazy about the plot! < 3

I agree, it's probably nothing like Shamy's relationship agreement. It was their idea and they said it looks great, so it must be fitting. Maybe something like "No socks during sex", lol. :icon_cheesygrin:

I won't be surprised if exactly that is in there lol! I'm thinking light stuff like that, definitely no 'no sentimentality' clauses or other mean ones (Sheldon's clause about 'no body piercings' still pisses me off!)

I also really like the sound of the Howard and Raj plot as well in trying to come up with ridiculous maze like route to get to and from the crib without waking up Halley. They could have a lot of fun with devising that and I hope there is some silly props involved lol

Oh, they do!

There is a scene where Raj and Howard are thinking of different ways to avoid the floor all together. Cue to a montage of Howard acting out a few ideas, including being harnessed in some kind of zipline. There were at least 3 ideas and I believe all three of them ended in Howard flying and breaking through the wall. It was really, really funny.

When they build the grid on the nursery floor to figure out which spots squeaked, Howard steps on each square and does this strange wiggle with his hands in the air. Raj asks why he always has his arms up like that and Howard says it's the dance of his people. He then proceeds to dance and sing a Jewish song I can't recall. It was hilarious! The physical comedy from Simon was top notch.

At the end, Raj and Howard show Bernie that they have it all figured out, but it includes massive leaps, almost doing the splits, and jumping onto an ottoman. Howard demonstrates and Raj comments that he tried the ottoman leap with socks and it didn't end well. Seeing Howard nearly do the splits in those pants of his was amazing. Overall, it was a great episode with a good balance of humor and tension.

I also wanted to touch on what wowbagger and a few others have said about this episode feeling like the writer's acknowledging their struggles with Lenny... that's exactly what it felt like. The relationship agreement didn't feel like another way to make everything about Sheldon, but a nod to a long-running gag that started with Sheldon and Leonard, not Shamy. It didn't feel like the start of a new Lenny with Sheldon as their dictator, it felt like a way to make the average fan laugh (and it was definitely the biggest laugh of the night) while promising that there will be more thought and structure when it comes to Lenny in the future.

I really did get the sense that the writers were admitting to how badly they've messed up. They showed us what Lenny had become due to their lack of attention and promised it would get better.

The comedy is in the details on this show and sometimes its necessary to ignore them in order to see the developments for what they are. There have been plenty of times when Sheldon regresses for the sake of comedy and I'm sure any Shamy could tell you the struggles many of us have with that... but they're just throwaway lines or happenings for the sake of a punchline. Whether you love or hate that, it's something these writers are known to do, so we live with it.

I know that Lenny's are discouraged and with good reason, but I wrote the TR last night with excitement that these issues were finally addressed and hope very well could be right around the corner for all who are disappointed. Maybe it gets better, maybe it doesn't, but I took from this episode that they're trying.

This is what I don't like about his agreements. He puts rules on things that are out of his control. If Amy wants body piercings, she should be free to get as many as she wants.

If Sheldon put anything like that in Lenny's agreement, I'm sure they wouldn't even sign it or they wouldn't give a damn about it.

@shamyyellow Thank you for the very detailed taping report!  First and foremost, it sounds like you had an awesome time! I can't tell you how great it was waking up and reading your notes, before dredging off to work in the cold this morning. Needless to say, it's going to be a long wait until the next taping in January!
