To be Fair I don't think when writing the episode. They think of catering to any one subset of TbbT fan base. TbbT has all types of fans. The fact they neglect Leonard and Penny as characters, is inconcidential to the main purpose of writing the central plot.  My mid point is they tuned out a certain segment of the audience over the past three or four seasons. 

The writers are writing to a select subset of the audience. The female fan. The show has turned into a weekly 20 minute chick flick. You mentioned the writers are trying to fix Lennys broken relationship with the concept of Penny mad at Leonard for not working on their relationship and Sheldon there to lend a helping hand. I'm guessing what Lenny fans are left, and the number IMO are falling, don't want to see that storyline. I think things need to move forward for Lenny not trying to fix an imaginary broken relationship.

i agree that a certain segment of the audience stopped watching and it appears TPTB don't care. Look at the lack of Penny in the promo photos and the clip of Lenny in the kitchen. The thing is people say the ratings are great espicially for a show in its 10th season. I think their rather disappointing. Considering the time slot on Thursday they should be the number one rated show on tv. Also ratings should skyrocket with Football not competing against them from January on. But I'm guessing they won't.

If they think that they have gone bat crazy. If they write out Lenny they well quickly get a rude awakening how important they are. And how many of ppl tune in for them. Then again tptb may think Lennys story was over once they got married. Might explain why they constantly ignore them.

To be fair I saw nothing wrong with Lenny this season. Penny seemed generally happy. So yeah seems they are creating this imaginary timeline of a broken relationship. Broken not right term. It's like A fresh roll of bread. If you leave it for weeks. It's going to get old and mouldy lol. So I think neglected is the right word. Seems to me Tptb are using Lenny, specifically Leonard as some kinda scapegoat. For their own mistakes. Ahh just blame it on Leonard.

I can only agree, I haven't seen anything wrong with Lenny either. They were so sweet at the redo and in the dancing part in 4A and Penny has really cared for Leonard at several occasion. Then all of a sudden there is this marriage in crisis.

Well I can understand them wanting to work on their relationship. Leonard's line about not needing to be attractive. But tptb are acting like they are in some kinda mid life crisis. I don't think they are. And it's kinda a trope the wife feeling under appreciated by her husband. What are they an old married couple? Where's the fun married couple stories? Did they just bypass all of that? All we need is isolated scenes where they communicate better. They are just over complicating things. As it is I think the taping we'll translate just fine. But Lord.

Shamy host a party in their new apartment or Shamy travels to Texas to see Sheldons mother.

I don't see why Lenny couldn't hold a party in 4A  and go to Nebraska to visit Pennys family or why not visiting Beverly.

This could be interesting. There has been plenty of time in at least the last six seasons they could have done that and have not. It does not seem to be a priority. It almost seems like Penny does not want Leonard to see her family. She is embarrassed of her drug dealing brother and neurotic mother? Perhaps her past and her reputation in her town. Seems like she escaped all that and is not keen to go back.

You mean when they dedicated the 200th milestone episode to Sheldon lol? Yeah personally I would Wbr count that as Lenny hosting a party. They did in Season 6 The Closet Reconfiguarition. But since they got married 9x01 no.

To me it just comes across as a common sort of complaint but yes more common when adds in some real stressors like kids, money trouble or bad health. Their problem is kind of just lacking common interests.

You know things can change, what Leonard felt for Beverly in season 8 could be a totally different thing what he feel today.

Lenny did make thanksgiving dinner this season so I don't see the problem with the food.

We know from the first episode this season that Leonard has met Penny's family before, so I don't think she is embarrassed of her family. Why Lenny hasn't  been to Nebraska or any other trip is just lazy writing, it is easier to have them behind the kitchen island.

Hmm yeah I don't think them lacking common interests is the issue. Penny's issue was feeling under appreciated. Leonard's been neglectful apparently.

Common interests would help him not be neglectful. As it is he has to do something that does not just come naturally to show her a good time. It is not so easy since he can't just be himself and have her enjoy that too. There was the time he took her to a shooting range to show her a good time. It went well enough until he shot himself in the foot.

I was wrong, it was season 9, but they still made dinner. 

The season go past so fast,it is hard to keep track on everything.

Common interests would help him not be neglectful. As it is he has to do something that does not just come naturally to show her a good time. I don't see it as impossible that Penny could have gone some cooking classes or has learn to cook by herself.  When almost everything that happens for Lenny is off-screen you'll have to have some imagination.

After having cooked spaghetti with a little hotdog cut up in it for Sheldon the fastidious, which he enjoyed.  Another joke from left field I believe.

She seemed to do good with the French Toast. But then she was oblivious to the seasoning packet in the Ramen so I'm not too sure where I stand on Penny and cookery.
