Excuse me. Where did (anyone here) get that everyone's contract stipulates that they MUST appear in every episode? That's ridiculous for a studio to agree to that. They don't know what's to come in the storyline. I don't believe that they have that in their contracts.

I believe that the best person to answer that would be Tensor. I know I personally read it somewhere, but can't quite remember where. I think that the main cast has that in their contracts because their pay is per episode.

Wouldn't you want all seven to show up for every episode if you are paying them for every episode? The contract is probably for the season not per episode.

The majority of us know how Judd Hirsch came to be Leonard's father on the series, but here's a new video of the actor teasing the story in his own words. Currently, Katey Sagal and he are doing press for their upcoming series, Superior Donuts.

LOL.
"Hirsch also lets us in on an inside Hollywood secret: what Galecki is really like in person."

I found this article interesting. As Leonard has been on two international trips and should be well known in the science community, it's interesting that the show still goes with the assumptions that Penny earns more money than Leonard. (Obviously done for the comic effect.)

That's not going to happen. It is officially The Sheldon Show. The only thing left to do is change the name of the show and the lead credits to reflect the change. Johnny and Kaley talent has been wasted for over 3 seasons now. As top actors this is really damaging for future work in the industry or getting decent roles in the future. It's a good thing that they both have their own projects apart from acting. TBBT has made them rich but but in that process TPTB is ruining their profiles at the same time.

All the more reason for them to keep going as long as TBBT does so that they can keep something in the bank for the future.

I'm sure Johnny and Kaley would have no problem finding work after TbbT. Why wouldent they? Johnnys going to be in The Ring 3. Kaleys pretty she well be fine lol. I think the big 3 we'll do fine. Simon after his GG nomination has found his niche most likely. Rest not sure. I know Mel was a stand up. Mayim has a Docurate Doesent she? Someone can correct me. A Phd in Nueroscience. I don't think the current state of the show has effected their profiles at all . Why would it.

If they do get contracts done It is likely going to be for 2 seasons or 3. I forgot that the 21st episode of a possible season 13 would be the 300th episode. Now I am not sure we would reach that point, but would be the best spot to end the series at.

3 seasons? I understand that from a money stand point. The show is still doing very well in key demos. And it's revenue is high. But creatively can the show deliver 2 more seasons at least lol? It's barley getting an episode out on a weekly basis. I mean surely you run out of ideas at some point.

The original five have enough, if they are smart about investing,  to not work for the rest of their life,  if they choose to.   Or, enough to enable them to pick and choose what they will do.

All seven of them are full main cast members.  That designation means they have to be available for all shows, and if they are not used, they still get paid (they have to be available, so why not use them)?   Kevin Sussman is a main cast member, and gets so many shows per year, how many, is specified in their contracts (Melissa and Mayim were this prior to season seven.  Prior to season seven neither Melissa or Mayim appeared in all the shows of a season).

Then there is Laura Spencer, who is a fractional main cast (at least she was in season  9, I don't know her status for this year), who appears when they need her.  She (and Kevin) get opening credit when they appear.  The fractional designation allows the show to be the primary, if there is a conflict with her appearing on another show (remember, she's had/has a recurring part in Bones), unless, of course, there is another show who want to make her full main cast or main cast, then that show would control.

Sometime back, after figuring in the ad revenue and who was paying for what, I can see them doing two full seasons for 11 and 12, and a 13-16 episode order for the thirteenth season.  Or possibly a full order for season 11 and 13-18 for the next two seasons.  Getting to 13 would make it the second longest running live action sitcom.

Who knew in 2007 it would go thirteen seasons huh. Out of curiosity what is the longest running live action sitcom of all time? I know Two and a half men went 12 seasons. In any case it prob does not guarantee great quality. But I can understand from a money stand point backing the truck, from a quantity stand point.

I'm sure they don't have in their contract that they have to appear in each episode. Some of them may have play or pay clauses.

The longest running live action sitcom was "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriette".  It ran 14 years, from October 1952 until April of 1966 on the ABC network.  It ran for 434 episodes (31 episodes per year).  Ricky Nelson, was the son of Ozzie and Harriette and appeared on the show.

It also ran from 1944 until 1954 on radio.  There were 401 radio shows, so a total number or episodes, between radio and television of 835.

My Three Sons ran for 12 seasons.  It ran for five seasons on ABC, all in black and white and for seven seasons on CBS, all in color.  It had a total of 380 episodes (averaging almost 32 per season, 36 in it's first two years).   Not only did it change networks, it's setting also changed (moving from the midwest to LA), and the only actor to be with the show for the entire run was Fred MacMurray (and even then, they would shoot all of his scenes in a 60 day period, one thirty day period in the fall, and one in the spring, then film all the other's scenes).

Of course, Two and a Half Men ran for twelve seasons, but only for 262 episodes.

You are totally right! They should have gotten the Golden Globe for best off-screen performance by a couple in a comedy. Indeed!

How is that validated? The poll was just over 5000 readers of the magazine. The show has over 20 million viewers. That is no way near the majority of fans who watch the show. I'll say 0.5% will make up those digital readers.
