I'm crummy at math, really, really crummy, so help me out. The article said that 18% would be tempted back if Leonard & Penny were to go. Does that mean that 82% would not be tempted back if Leonard & Penny go?

Don't think I'd watch it if any of the 3 were gone. If any or all of Lenny left, that would be too big a hole in my attraction to the show and I couldn't watch one without the other - too sad. And unlike some Lennies, I love the Sheldon character, despite him diminishing their role in the show in the last couple of seasons.

I never listen to anything Molaro says anyway and it is all forum and interwebs speculation for clickbait but for me letting anyone go from the group would fly in the face of the long held position that TPTB love this show and the cast so much. Yes I know it is commercial decision making that wins out in the end but I would be devastated for the show ( not myself, that would be very much a first world problem!) if the characters were split up.

My favourite sitcom before BBT was MASH and while I cried when Colonel Blake died, was upset when Trapper and Frank Burns left and sad when Radar went home, most of that happened early on in the 10 year run and that show for me was more about the stories and jokes than the characters' relationships like BBT is for me. Having said that, I don't think it would have survived without Hawkeye.

Ditching any of the 3 main characters of 10 years for me is a MASSIVE change to the show, even if many here think it's just the Sheldon Show. Abbott without Costello? No. Sheldon without Leonard or Penny? Wouldn't work for me.

And yeah, clickbait poll of an online magazine with limited readership? Not buying it.

All three,  Sheldon, Leonard and Penny are equally important IMO. Here is a poll of favorite TBBT characters from this site. I think anyone can vote here. You don't have to be a member of the forum. It has 59,728 total votes,. As you can see, Leonard and Penny are 2 of the 3 most popular characters and while it does not reflect 20 million viewers, IMO, the show wouldn't work if any of the big 3 left. I think Leonard and Penny are integral to the show,  just as much as Sheldon is. And Amy has also become more significant in the last few seasons.

The poll was kinda confusing. I'm shit at maths too, so can't help you out there. Lol. But it does come across as according to the poll. 82% would not be tempted back if Leonard & Penny go.

The headline of that article is misleading. For one thing, as Serenaded214 pointed out, the poll does not ask about L/P staying and Sheldon going. You can get polls to have just about whatever answer you want depending on how you phrase the question.

Besides, until you actually see the show without any of the big three, how will you know if it's any good?

Diddn't the Russians also try to create The Theorists? Heh.  Who's the 80%? I agree its misleading. Who voted on this. Most casual fans love Sheldon. But as said the audience get 20 million viewers. 18% would stop watching without the main three. So what is it saying Sheldon is popular, and a percentage of the audience would also stop watching if Leonard and Penny were written out. And Like this show would of survived back in 2007 if it was just Sheldon being crazy. He needs Leonard and Penny, more then they need him. Without Johnny and Kaley who would Sheldon play off? In any respect. Poll means nothing.

For those who are math challenged,  you have to add the percentages. 

63% say All three must stay. (Sheldon must stay)

18% say that Leonard and Penny can go, but Sheldon must stay. (Again, Sheldon must stay).

19% say they would watch without all three.  (Sheldon is gone). 

That is 81% who require Sheldon to stay.   

Several things.  There is no question about Leonard and Penny staying and Sheldon leaving.  This is an online poll, so unless they track IP addresses, someone could vote more than once (and even then they are ways around that).   And, since we have no error bars, the whole poll has no validity.  So, nothing really can be validated.

Which, of course, is not the same as saying that 81% would watch a Sheldon-only version.

No, but 81% require Sheldon to be present.   But, like I said, it's not scientifically valid.   You could look at it as only 18% would watch it with only Sheldon because 63% require all three and 19% would watch without any of the three.

The Lenny Relationship Agreement was NOT mentioned nor was the tiff resolved on screen.

So either the RA was just some throwaway gag. And/OR the tiff was resolved off screen. Puts hands up in air.

Thanks. I wonder if the line about Amy's father suggests that he's still alive ?

I've been going with the idea that I read in a  fan fiction that he'd died in combat. If he left her money for her education, it seemed to fit why she never mentioned him and she never referred to having to wait on tables like Bernadette,take out loans like Leonard or babysit like Emily, or whatever to put herself through to her doctorate.
