The spin off I think is going to be a flop for many reasons.

Couldn't agree more. Not sure why anyone wants to watch a show about a highly intelligent, intellectually snobbish, bullied child going through the trials and tribulations that he subsequently describes as 'hell'.  I'll give it a look but I anticipate it will suck on many levels.

Not going to touch the ongoing political debate, and I am no fan of Simon's left wing views, but I agree; the manner in which he and his wife chose to make their statement was tasteless.

I don't really have an issue with where Jim chose to sit. Don't know if it signifies any fracturing of the TBBT cast solidarity, or not. With the egos that most actors have it's already a wonder they've held this cast together for so long. I do wonder if several of them are beginning to overestimate their importance in the grand scheme of things. None of the characters are irreplaceable at this point. In fact, if some of them moved on it might give the writers some fresh opportunities for story lines.

I was thinking with this new program about young sheldon aren't tptb basically telling the other actors that their characters arent really that important and that their only going to push sheldon. Also if their letting parsons negotiate separately i would wonder what j&k would think of their diminished rolls

He wasn't dissing his TBBT castmates. He said it wasn't solely his decision and that the compromise was that the TBBT and HF tables were close together. It's not like he was avoiding them the whole evening or anything. He literally sat back to back with Mayim. Jeez.

I'm sure there was quite a bit of pressure to sit with HF cause it's a very prestigious project that's getting a ton of awards right now. When I found out where he would sit I had a hunch that this means HF will win and TBBT won't which is what happened so... yeah.

Regardless of what happened, meaning who won and who didn't, he dissed his TBBT cast mates. Did Simon sit with TBBT cast mates or at the Florence Foster Jenkins table? No matter how you look at it he was going to diss one table or the other.

The Sheldon centric state of the show may will be what kills it.

There was no FFJ table as the movie didn't score a nomination. Maryl Streep sat at a table with actors from different movies who, like her, received a nomination without their film having received one, such as the main actors in La-La Land.

Thank you, didn't know that. Rest of my comment stands.

How is this an insult to his cast mates? (Or are we using some obscure meaning of the word "diss" I'm not aware of?) Do you think the TBBT cast is so thin skinned that they're moping around about this like "boohoo Jim won't sit with us!"?? I mean seriously, this isn't high school. They're adults working in the business.

I'm not even sure there was a proper Florence Foster Jenkins table - but if Simon would have ended up sitting there I wouldn't have an issue with that either. And in fact he might have had if the FFJ cast was nominated as an ensemble. But it's not that kind of film so it wasn't. It didn't even have a best movie nomination so I guess it's harder to justify placing Simon there.

IMO either way you cut it it's not a "diss" (a word which here means insult), it's an unfortunate situation at most in that one table had to forgo his charming presence during the awards show. But nothing more serious than that.

And I do not agree with you at all. IMO, in this context the word " diss" means "slight", and not necessarily "insult". Mirs1 correctly pointed out to me that there was not a FFJ table. Everything else in your post is an assumption because the only thing I said on the matter are the 2 lines that constitute my post, and not everything you mentioned. I think the only valid point of contention is what each of us thinks the word "diss" means in this context. In any case it is not that important so we can leave it as it stands, if you want.

What was he going to do ?

Jim had two nomination to Sag awards, as we both know he can't split himself in two pieces to sit at both tables, so he has to sit at one table.

This time he choose to sit with Hidden figures, another time he could be sitting with Tbbt.

I don't really see the problem here to be honest.

Or he could of blown it off like the People's Choice Awards. Fellow actors are more important than fans though.

JP has been sitting with the BBT cast for ten years...Now he has a shiny new project that was nominated and won so of course he'll sit with that table. I'm sure that he appreciates his fellow BBT castmates but I'm also sure that above all this is business for him...Otherwise he'd be negotiating with Kaley and Johnny. And more power to him, of course.

Yet they made them a couple again, when they were with (and in Kaley's case, married to) other people, which would, I imagine, have been just as (if not more ) awkward.

I don;t think so. Believe they just got to the point where they both moved on and were more comfortable with each other.

Leonard and Penny also got together when they were dating in 2009. They got back together in 2011 Season 5 Recombintion Hypothesis. That is 2 years after they split. They well over it by then. Funny thing is I Feel Johnny and Kaley have far more on screen chemistry then they did two years ago. I can't explain it. It just feels an intimacy with them on screen atm, platonically heh.

FWIWT The seating arrangements at SAG award is determined by a SAG " group". They kinda know who is most likely to win. JP was not fully 100% able to pick his seat.

Yes fully 100% but he had some what minor control. He's not a robot, he choose where to sit. Now ones interpretation can choose what to make of this as they well. But he skipped the PCAS's now this. Jim's money and fame come from being on TBBT But I Feel Jim is drifting away from the show. Season Ten could be the last simply so Jim could focus on his other projects. And the Spinoff show, which is bound to flop hard. It is my opinion, TBBT is getting cocky lol. IF you get my drift. They are taking their success for granted. Let's have a Sheldon Spinoff. They can barley write their own show, they lost their barrings a long time ago. I Think this is a bad move by Jim, seeing he is executive producer. Bad Bad move.

Jim can sit wherever he wants. I dont see the problem. This project is exciting for him. Of course he is proud of Big Bang, big bang give him everything, but he wants to grow as an actor. He wants to make movies, he wants to participate in other projects. Is this bad? I think is good for him. Everyone knows him as Sheldon, he is proud of that, but how many people  knows him as the actor he is?

Kaley knew exactly where Jim sit. Even if he did not say anything. She was playing when she asked and I think it was fun.
