Goes hand in hand with what I was saying yesterday on singling out Sheldon to be the designated weirdo/geek/science-jargon sprouting nerd: Oh dear lord, please no! There's nothing more boring than just have this one guy who's role it is to set up everything that's left of the show's nerd cred. Sheldon + 6 normal characters is a terrible idea and I say that knowing full well that we're already halfway there. It'll only lead to terribly stale situations that will revolve even more around Sheldon and nobody wants that.

What the writers need to do instead is balance the eccentricities of the cast better. Sheldon is getting more social and normal? Then crank up the weirdness of the other characters for a bit (it's not like they don't have their own character quirks) and turn the tables around to make Sheldon the straight guy. That's what provides new and fresh stories - not trying to cling to some weird idea of what Sheldon may or may not have been 10 years ago.

I thought in the last episode we got to see a lot of 'nerd' from the guys concerning their passion for SDCC, Amy and Penny even commenting on it and it's nerdiness.  Sheldon did show himself to be the biggest nerd when the other guys went back to the 'normal' side and decided to stay with their SO's but he still insisted he was going.

I Also thought instead of mocking the guys for being nerds. The woman enjoyed it. Well Penny did anyway. Penny was willing to go to Comic Con. So at least she was trying. I think Bakersfield Expedition Season 6. Was far better in terms of balance and pacing. But creatively the show well never reach those heights again. I like it more when the girls are getting actively involved in comic books, science fiction, nerd culture etc. "You don't know his life!" Still cracks me up.

So they caved and gave up the "nerd" a passion. Something that they have apparently enjoyed as a group for years, cause the GIRLS don't approve. Please...Bernie tried to get Howard to fail at a massive house keeping list, to keep him from going.  Their baby will be 7 months old by the time Comic Con comes around, not an infant.  Sleeping through the night, eating solid food, etc.

Penny agreed to go to make Leonard happy, she was not willing to go, she was dreading it.

The guys have plenty of opportunities to be there for their wives and girlfriends, it makes me sad when they take a truly long-standing nerdy experience like Comic Con and turn it into a "let me prove to you how much I love you" moment by having the guys pass on that annual event.

I don't think Penny was dreading it until Amy started hammering on her on how bad it was, I think a first Penny was just thinking she would support Leonard.

I think the girls should have insisted the guys go, it is something they love and the girls should have encouraged them to still go.  It's like I to go to car shows and my SO doesn't, but she doesn't discourage me from going, she actually reminds me when they are having them, but she doesn't go with me.

Agreed, I would have been happier if the episode revolved around the girls urging the guys to go with out them.

I would have had them go then you could do something with the girls storyline wise. The girls together doing something (in a boys/girls split) have been some of the best episodes of the show.

Well, this story was just about them getting the tickets. SDCC itself is during summer when the show isn't on anyway so I doubt we would have gotten a proper story out of that regardless of the outcome of this episode.

To be fair to the girls here: None of them is against their guy going to CC. They all seem pretty fine with it as long as they don't have to go themselves (nothing wrong with that - the CC circus is not for everyone!). So an alternative ending to this story could have been the guys end up going and the girls plan their own fun weekend.

It's not a movie they would go see, plus BBT doesn't break the fourth wall. Otherwise Penny would have gotten an acting job with Priceline making a Shatner guest appearance a few years ago

At this point we do not know how much Leonard knows about  Penny/Raj night.  Penny has mentioned in Season 8 Episode 4 (Hook-up Reverberation) that everyone knows that they" did not sleep together just fooled around"  But how much is really known. Believe there should be a good heart-to-heart scene with Penny and Leonard where she confesses the whole story, especially now if he is to move into Sheldon's old room. And after this talk Leonard must evaluate if he still wants Raj there.

Additionally, have just read that the producers/writers may have Penny re-evaluating her career and that she may go back to acting. This certainly a big turnaround as she stated she does not want to feel all the anxiety and rejections of auditions.  Also the article stated that her maiden name might be revealed this year.  Has anyone else heard about this?

What's the point in revealing her maiden name after the wedding?

To me this sounds pointless, because now we know she is Mrs Hofstadter

There usually is one on Wednesday but Kunal and his wife have been in London for an Indian-British cultural shindig at Buckingham Palace. Like Bert, he didn't believe the invitation at first and thought it was a joke, and then he did believe it.

Apparently The Queen said to him, 'Nice to see you again.' Since they'd never met before he suggests Her Majesty meant she'd seen him on TV. So everybody is a fan of BBT. I hope this means Kunal's getting an OBE  . (I wonder if they can get HM or Prince Charles on the show ? )

I suppose he could still have made it to the studio in time, jetlag notwithstanding.

If Penny's family are going to be in it again it might be worth knowing. It would be funny if her father was Wyatt Wyatt.

lol could you imagine if her maj tunes into E4 every week to watch the show? Being serious though she does watch some pretty surprising television shows and some things you totally wouldn't expect lol.

There is (was?) one today - Jim said so in his interview with Dan Patrick (see Jim's thread). I'm sure Kunal is back in the states by now.

Penny could of had a "heart to heart" with Leonard in 8.04 about that night. But they didn't. I don't see how any things changed now Raj is living in Sheldons old room now. Which could possibly be only 2 episodes at best. I still don't really understand the premise of this Raj plot. And why he needs to live with Leonard and Penny. Seems a tad uneccessary. But anyway. 

I wouldent mind Penny returning to acting. It's her passion, and the premise of her character. It's unresolved. That's not to mean stardom. But I could see semi success. She could star in a web series. They are trendy. And if she finds success their in acting in any form. Could really balance out and help her relationship with  Leonard.
