Ok I'm gong to type up a quick repost.. I's tired af and I didn't take notes so it will be brief. I will add dialog but it wont be accurate to the actual taping as there were lots of re-writes. T

Hi all. Just a quick report. Got to pack our bags for a flight to San Francisco in the morning Episode was called "The Separation Agitation". If anything it was centered on Bert and StuHowardette mor

OK, here's the full taping report, courtesy of a super kind and likeable person. A million thanks to her. The unaltered wording reads as follows:

Leonard calls Sheldon "buddy" because that's what Johnny calls Jim in real life.

I remember a very old interview from very early in the series where someone (writer or producer maybe) overheard Johnny call Jim "buddy".  They asked Jim if Johnny does that a lot and Jim said "all the time" and something along the lines of that  "Johnny even answers the phone that way when he calls him".  TPTB liked it so much that they decided that it would be a perfect thing for Leonard to call Sheldon.

Thank you @vonmar for sharing that. They are a good team.

But aren't you (and other Lenny's) afraid you are building this wedding re do (which you all deserve imho) up way to much in your head?

It might only lead to a certain dissapointment...

Completely agree with you. Lennies who do not want to be disappointed can do what I do: Lower their expectations to the writers' current level of writing. It's pretty low , IMO, but such is life...

I will be pedantic and inform you that was not SNL but MadTV that aired that skit.

I thought S9 was pretty good writing wise for Lenny. But that is just me. I Don't think TPTB ignore Lenny as much as ppl think. Obviousley highlighted by Kitchen Island. I just think they diluted or downplayed them, to you know spin out the show over more lucrative seasons. Therefore focus on other couples, characters, stories, and ships. Then Season 6 was a huge season for Lenny. They developed them so much. What else is their, then just to show them a young happily married couple.  The writing clearly shifted some where between, 6x24 and 7x24. Hence that balance people keep refering to is gone. I Guess TPTP see the show as money now, and Sheldon and Jim Parsons = Money. I mean he is basically in ever scene now, even uneccssarily. All my opinion of course, which is all I have.

Spoiler Room: Scoop on Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Grey's Anatomy and more

How long will Penny’s family be sticking around on The Big Bang Theory? — Joe
For now, just the premiere, but their arrival will be enlightening. “Penny’s close with her dad,” EP Steve Molaro says. “As we know, her brother Randall has been a bit of trouble over the years, selling drugs and being in and out of jail, and that’s put a lot of stress on her mom. You will pick up on the tensions between her mother and her brother very quickly, and you get a glimpse of Penny and her dad being caught in the middle of that.

That sounds intriguing. :icon_surprised:

That Lenny wedding should of been as monumental as Shamy coitus. There doing a wedding redo. There not doing a Shamy coitus redo.

Here's a slightly different photo, in color, that Martin Spanjers shared on his Instagram account. Amy Davidson later shared the same picture on her IG, while checked into Warner Bros. Studios.

I think it would cute if one year from the first time (Amy's Birthday), Sheldon takes her on a romantic date and we find out that he is doing all that because he wants to do the deed with her again.

I hear everything you're saying and even understand why you might think the way you do. I, however, do not agree with everything you say. I didn't like Lenny's writing in S9. Don't get me wrong, there were some good moments and it was better than S8, but all in all the characters were written too inconsistently. I do not care for the writers' motives for writing them the way they did, since I've always thought that their main objective should be to retain even a modicum of creative integrity, even if I know that might be a pipe dream. Their over reliance on the Sheldon character, IMO, borders on the ridiculous, and doesn't help the show be funnier. I guess the reason for our complaints is that apparently, is that TPTB's expectations from the show and ours' are completely different: We want to have the best possible story told, and they just want to make the most money. Those things are rarely fully compatible. All of this , obviously, JMO.

That's not completely accurate. First, there is no "We". Everyone who watches the show and more specifically, everyone here has different opionions on what "the best possible story" is. Just because it is not your best story told does not mean it's not the next persons' best story told. Second, the writers want to tell stories that will keep the show on the air as long as they can. That means they want to write the best story that the viewing public will watch and stay with.

Yes. They want to appeal to a wide audience since that is essentially what pays everyone's salary. Since it is going into season 10 and there is talk of extending contracts I'd say the writers have hit a winning combination for something that has worked.

And when it's not a person's best story, that person is more than welcome to point out why it's not their best story.

In other words, they want to make the most money possible from the show.   If it's not making money, it's not on the network schedule, i. e., it's not on the air.

What's the best story?  In the producers eyes, the one that keeps the show on as long as possible, making the producers the most money, just like Carlos said.   He also pointed out that the best story to keep it on the air, doesn't necessarily mean it's the best show, quality wise, that can be produced.

1) Of course there is a we (meaning the members of this forum) and of course it doesn't include everybody.

2) You misunderstood me because at no point did I mention that what is the best story told for me is going to be the best story told for another poster. Mine was just an observation that we (people on this forum) seem to predominantly want what they consider to be the story that makes sense to each one of them.

3) You're making my point: as you say the writers want the show to stay on air as long as possible therefore making the most money, therefore not putting creative integrity at the forefront, and finally that means appealing to the lowest common denominator: "the casual fan" . I don't think there are many of those in here.

Btw, there are shows in which they prioritize creative integrity over money, ie: Game of Thrones. They'll end it at the end of S8 even though HBO would like it to last at least 10 seasons. In contrast TBBT will go on until they can. It boggles the mind to ponder how low they're willing to go (quality wise).

GoT is not a sitcom. I'm not going into why I don't watch it and have not read the books. It is in a category all it's own because it was based on a book series but has gotten ahead of the book material.

It appears to me that TBBT writers must have a good idea of what actually matters regarding a successful sitcom. I actually enjoy it most of the time and look foreword to more seasons.

That's not the point. Genre dividence to me is not relevant. Quality is Quality. IT seems BBT has lowered the Quality over the years, to spin it out over more seasons. Ala money. Great your still enjoying it, some are not. I am still watching for the characters, not the show. Have not enjoyed the show in bout 3 years now.

The part about Sheldon getting "addicted" to coffee or energy drinks does seem indeed something they have already done, in the episode about Penny's blossoms for example.

Also, in The Anxiety Optimisation, Leonard says Sheldon tried his first energy drink, ran around the University grounds for a while, then threw up in his glove compartment.

BTW glove "compartment"?

I thought Americans had glove boxes?

He uses British vocab when talking to Raj or Priya, eg 'flatmate' and 'trousers'. To whom was he speaking when he said 'compartment' ? I  can't remember.
