While I understand that they want to keep the sets resembling their former selves, I can't help but wonder why the Batman cookie jar is still in 4A. After all, that was a gift given to Sheldon from Leonard in "The Bat Jar Conjecture." Penny's coffee maker was moved to 4A, so it's not like there isn't room for the cookie jar to set on Shamy's kitchen counter.

I agree with you, but my guess is that they simply forgot it was Sheldon's; they should have asked the fans how to split their belongings, LOL!

I noticed this  ( The host kept referring to 4A as Leonard and Sheldon's apartment and 4B as Penny’s apartment.  R1013  ) too.

I noticed this too. It seems weird, but I wonder if it's maybe part of their superstitions, like how they didn't want to give Penny a last name prior to marrying Leonard.

Or perhaps that's how the sets have always been labelled and the host doesn't follow the story ?

The problem now with 4B is that it is still for all intents pennys apt.

It was decorated much differently than 4A to visually show/highlight the differences between penny and the guys, it just showed penny's personality so well and it is still the same apt with only minor changes.

Hell the furniture is all still the same, its pretty silly to think shamy would be really comfortable there since as of now still it still shows more of pennys personality than theirs with only a few of their nic-nacs scattered about

I think they did a pretty good job with their bedroom which is now different and more Amy-style but the living room still doesn't fit them, especially the couch.

I agree. And with regard to the couch Sheldon said, he thought it would look fantastic on the curb in front of the building. :icon_wink:

If I may speak on the behalf of most Shamy fans, we agree with him! It doesn't fit Shamy at all!

Which raises the question since they don't use most of it what happened to amys furniture and stuff? It dosent make sense they put it in storage when they don't  much like what they are using, why not use amys couch and let penny put hers in storage or ya know on the curb??

Maybe its stored with Lennys dining table

Sheldon referred to Amy's intention to spruce the place up. Why don't they just move to somewhere bigger ? Is it because they're both thinking they wouldn't need to share a bed ?

Regarding bed sizes....in America, we have 4 basic sizes.

Twin - for 1 person

Double - for 2 people (which is what the beds are in Shamy's, Lenny's & Sheldons old room)

Queen - bigger than a double. Which is probably what Howardette have but if I was actually able to measure it, it's probably the same size as the others.  Simon & Melissa are so damn tiny compared to everybody else.

King - basically the size of two double beds

I also think in regards to Sheldon's old bed, I'd bet money it's not even a true double size bed but rather a double size "display" bed you see at department stores to showcase a particular bedding.  Which explains why Jims feet hang over the end when he lays down on it.  If it was an actual bed, he'd "fit" better in it.

I think we are over looking the real answer. With the furniture and accessories from Amys apt, Sheldons room and now Rajs apt they have the necessary things to completely redecorate 4B and make appropriate changes to 4A without any real expense beyond time, i think they are just to scared to lose their own "escape hatch"

Yeah,  we don't want them to change the DNA of the show.

Maybe turning TBBT into The Sheldon Show wasn't as smart a move as the writers seem to think it was.

I dont think it's about the focus on Sheldon at all, but more about the change in writing. Gone are the exquisitely written intelligent dialogue that most people loved about the series. I'm not talking about really complicated explanations of things, either. I just mean their vocabulary has significantly decreased over time. Nowadays, they all talk like a bunch of average Joe's.

On top of that, their current storylines are that of any sitcom ever made. There's nothing unique anymore that sets them apart from other shows. Oh, the married couple is having a bunch of arguments? Done before, many times. Oh, someone's having money issues and moves in with friends? Been there, done that. Where the he'll are the creative storylines? Where's the science that made the show a hit in the first place? Where's the amazing vocabularies? Even their speech patterns have changed, and no longer sets any of the characters apart.

That's not to say I wouldn't live to see more from Lenny and less from Shamy, but I don't think that's what caused the loss of viewership.

You would think they would have put Amy's couch in there.  Also wouldn't you think the dining table would come back to 4A, now that Sheldon is not there anymore.  Also since Raj is living in 4A, I could really see Raj, Leonard and Penny sitting at a table eating, like Raj did with Howard and Bernadette, I could even see him suggesting the table come back.  Then finally, just to shake things up, wouldn't you just love to see Sheldon's face if Raj suggested to Penny to put a furniture cover on the couch, to make it less masculine, and she did, basically burying Sheldon's spot.

I was just about to post something about this. What happened to Amy's apartment. She moved into 4b because of a pipe leak, but they never mentioned her lease ending. Why can't Raj live in Amy's old apartment? If she could afford it, why couldn't he?

That makes way too much sense for A TV Sitcom.

Unfortunately the answer to these and other burning guestions is logic and common sense went out the window long ago in favor of what they wanted to do and their desire to not have to actually do the work to show the whys of it. Like massive appearing/disappearing debt, leonerd taking penny for granted, or sheldon suddenly being ok with leaving his 0,0,0,0. Making things make sense would mean doing the hard work of foreshadowing and building up to something, it is much easier to just do it, i mean no one really cares right?

When given the choice of working out a plot or story line to lead up to a large (or small) change why bother when they can just pull it seemingly out of their ass and knock off early and play video games?

If you ever saw the Icarly episode featuring the dingo channel show "totally terry" writers room thats what i see in my mind when i envision the TBBT writers at work

I agree. It has become so hard for me too to be credible surprised by the writers. :scratchhead:

I think they have made a lot of smart moves. If we were in season four with dropping ratings I might agree. Given we are halfway through season ten I think the writers should have earned some respect.

But that doesn't mean she values the things she does with Leonard any less or loves him less or anything like that. It's just a whole new experience for her.

What do they do besides have sex? I really don't know what they ever had in common besides their friends. And I do not understand this whole new experience of which you speak. Penny ALWAYS had friends. She was popular as a girl, she threw Halloween and football parties for tons of people, she went drinking with Bernie and Amy (too much sometimes)...when did she not have friends?

Molaro said there wouldn't be big changes with 4A and 4B because they are iconic settings plus this could have been before the new deal talk. If we get two more seasons maybe they might change their mind during the hiatus before Season 11 starts and make some more decoration changes.

My money would be on it staying pretty much as is but there is still some scope for some more changes, maybe a lick of paint here and there, some furniture changes etc.

I know this is never going to happen, but Leonard and Penny should give Sheldon and Amy the couch from 4A, it is hideous.

They earned a lot of respect from me for many years and then destroyed it some in big lumps (3.19, 4.24, itchy sweater) and even more in the lazy plots, recycled jokes, total lack of continuity both story and character wise and generally phoning in all but their chosen one(s) now i have none

Having an opinion that the writers have gone overboard with one character because he was very popular isn't disrespecting them. It's having an opinion on why the ratings have dropped. They have clearly made a lot of smart moves to have the number one show for so many years. But there is a danger of having too much of a good thing especially when other characters are neglected. Disagree with my opinion but don't scold me for having one.
