Jonny
These sneak peeks have never detracted from the episodes (spoilers as well for that matter) for me personally but I guess I could see why someone might feel like it does. The show is ridiculously short, sometimes I wish and wonder what they could do with 30 mins of actual show screen-time.

That's pretty weird. I think it's difficult casual viewers, which I imagine are the main target of those ads, watch all the clips and all the interviews, tptb put a lot of them out there hoping people catch up with at least one of them and get intrigued enough to watch the episode. Being hard core fans, we obviously pay more attention, and all those clips give us the impression we know almost everything about the episode before it even airs. To be fair, though, we are indeed spoiled, so we already know many things about the episodes before they air... She's also a supporting character while Kaley has been the lone female protagonist for ten years with all the opportunity in the world to get nominated, and yet she didn't. She has no excuses for her lack of Emmy nominations. It's not an accident that Parsons is the only one from the guys who has been nominated and /or won an Emmy. There's no way around it, Mayim's just a better actress. Also, a repeat from the original point maker (aka: me): All Kaley can do is make funny faces at a camera. You kinda need more than that for an Emmy. The suggestion that MB is even comparable to KC as an actress is absurd. KC has star quality while MB is a competent supporting actress. KC was the only woman among those who made the show in its great days, and who carried MB when she was brought into an already successful show. KC is not only a brilliant comic actress, but a fine romantic actress as well. I didn't come to TBBT looking for a romcom, but I've come to care about L & P's romance. Whereas it is impossible to believe for a moment that S "loves" A, or to care about A's creepy desire for S. P requires far superior acting because she has self-control. The scene in the lobby of their building after Priya asked Leonard to stop seeing Penny, when Penny said "Goodbye Leonard", was intensely sad because of KC's beautifully restrained acting. In contrast, when Amy is unhappy all we get is a dreary lump of misery. Amy is indeed "quirky" (going on grotesque). I don't know if it's the writing or the acting, but A seems to belong to a different dramatic genre from P. Whereas P is a believable person (by sitcom standards) , A is pretty much a caricature, so that pretty crude acting will do. The bolded sentence is the height of absurdity. KC's facial acting, with her rapid and infinitely varied changes of expression, has been a big part of making the show from the first. It is often her reaction that makes other characters' lines. In contrast, Amy's dull slab of a face takes a perceptible interval to put on one of a finite range of expressions. All this is not to say that Amy, if kept in a supporting role, wouldn't have something to offer. I always enjoyed her scenes in her lab (that we don't seem to get any more). There seems to be a certain amount of life imitating art going on here. Just as Amy resents Penny for the same reasons she first got a crush on her, so MB's partisans seem to resent KC for being a star who lights up the screen and leaves their heroine in the shade. I don't mean to single you out, but there seems to be this idea (not that you were necessarily implying that) that you only get a ration of one female actor to watch. Any more and there's competition. Even though there have been four male leads on this show for a while and I don't really see as many 'howard vs sheldon' comparisons or whatever. in any case, both bialik and cuoco are fine comic actors with terrific chemistry. PAmy has been a joy this season. Now give them some career plots that aren't overshadowed by their menfolk's fee-fees. THANK YOU. Capt. My opinion may be in minority here but it doesnt mean I dont like Kaley or Penny. Because I do like both. joyceraye
I don't see that comparisons are necessary at all. When I watch TV my suspension of disbelief activates itself and I feel as though I'm watching real people. Bad acting would immediately draw attention to the unreality. On TBBT all the characters and their stories seem real, so to me they're all good actors. It's only ever been Penny's brother that burst the bubble for me. I felt he delivered his lines as though he was acting on a stage in a large theatre. This was explained when we found out he was supposed to be getting used to new teeth but that was a little too late for me. I found it distracting. I suppose, generally speaking, one reason TV programmes tend to appear well-acted regardless is that scenes can be reshot until they look right and a lot of editing can be done in post-production. However, we know TBBT is done all in one evening on the whole, and the TRs never say anything has to be repeated because it's unrealistically acted. Yes, KC, playing the most sensible person among a crowd of crazy people, has a difficult role and she does it believably. She's excellent.

For me it is not only about it. Mayim had had other roles where viewers could notice her skills as actress as she is a talented one. One word for this...BEACHES. And she was a child then. 14 hours ago, Tensor said: So, are you saying Don Knotts was a better actor than Andy Griffith? After all Don won five Emmys, Griffith won none. Or, do you suppose it was the character Knotts was playing? I actually WOULD say that. But to each his own, or her own as the case may be. But not because of the awards. 8 hours ago, camelliayao said: No intention of jumping in the Mayim/Kaley discussion, but IMO Jim Parsons, more than anyone else, made the show a hit...That's probably why the show centers around Sheldon so much these days. Mr Knotts was not a bumbling buffoon in real life so acting ability had to come into play. On the other hand, as good an actor as Andy Griffith was, he was playing Andy Griffith, laid back, problem solving. The academy voted based on that. Die Zimtzicke
Back to the best and the worst... Surprisingly Howard and Bernie were an all around bright spot for me this season. I also like Sheldon and Amy working on the science project together, the guys at comic con sitting at Leonard's feet, and Amy singing soft kitty in all of those languages...or at least trying to. Stuart improved this year and has some better lines, unless I'm just comparing him to Raj who took over as resident sad sack. I hated the whole redo wedding from start to finish, almost everything about Raj as already stated, and them pulling Sheldon's cheating dad out of thin air to explain why he knocks three times when he did NOT do that at first on the show. 1 minute ago, BigBang15 said: I would say that Don Knotts won Emmys for Barney because he was acting. Absolutely the perceptions that were given off, although the image of Griffith may have been a long way away from the reality. He was, after all, cheating on his wife with one of the other characters at the time, but in the show, yes, he was the laid back, nice steady influence, and that does not usually win awards in a comedy. He had a much wider range in his other projects.

Worst casting in the show's entire run so far, IMO. Second, I can see why you feel that way (re: Sheldon). He definitely is a unique character. Personally I have a history with loving nerd/hot chick couples (Ross/Rachel, Chuck/Sarah, Leonard/Penny) and to me all three couples are completely different. I don't mind cliché couples or storylines in general as long as they're written well. Mind you, that wasn't always the case in my 3 examples (is it ever?), but overall I would say yes. I understand why others maybe aren't into it, though. Different tastes and stuff.

snapepans
Regarding this Emmy discussion, I want to say: IMO, I think there are three factors for someone to get an Emmy Award: 1. You have wonderful acting skills. 2. You have enough plots to show that you have wonderful acting skills. 3. You have more wonderful acting skills and more plots than your other four competitors. Both KC and MB have the first factor, BUT, neither one of them has enough plots, let alone "more than other four competitors". KC is TBBT's leading actress, but, compare to the other leading actresses in comedy, "Penny" is really NOT THAT flesh out, so she really doesn't have any chance. I mean, Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Veep, she IS the Veep, come on! MB is one of TBBT's supporting actress, but, compare to the other supporting actresses in comedy, she really doesn't have enough plots to compete. You see, Allison Janney on Mom, her character Bonnie is a supporting character, but she clearly gets more plots than her daughter. And, clearly, JP has all three factors, hence he got 4 Emmy Awards. All above are just my opinion.

Like, the early Lenny storyline alone didn't bother me that much but if you add all the creepy fawning over hot chicks especially by Howard and Raj it's just "ugh dear not this shit again". I'm really impressed with what they did with Howard over the years. If someone told me during early seasons that this guy would turn out to be one of my faves among the guys I wouldn't believe it. lol
