Your scenario is just as reasonable.

I just thought Sheldon might want to stay in NJ with Amy for the summer, and perhaps she may want him to.   I never stated his job wasn't as important as Amy's or that Amy should return to Pasadena.  It is something different, that is all.

What job? The project is done (as far as they're concerned) and he's off for the summer till he returns to go back to his chosen field.

Amy is only supposed to be gone 3 months (summer time). No problem with deciding what coast to live on.

I Whether Sheldon believed his behavior was inappropriate or not does not negate the fact that while he called Leonard out for asking about Ramona's boyfriend status and calling Amy during the night, that he himself was exhibiting the very behavior he was condemning.

Sheldon only questioned if Leonard's' question was appropriate not because it embarrassed him or Ramona, but because Sheldon thought Leonard was flirting with Ramona (in front of Penny) trying to find out if she was available.

And yet they had to have Leonard and Howard unable to understand the math...I mean, I understand they needed to have them needing Sheldon but them looking at the board that clueless? that was absurd.

I get the impression Sheldon is much better at Maths than the others are, that's kind of tied to his branch of Science. Theoretical physicists come up with complex equations or theories so their Maths skills are usually quite advanced. Got to remember also that Sheldon was with the project from the start as well, he could have used some methods or mathematical shortcuts that the other guys don't know.

Wouldn't Leonard who also is a physicists be pretty good at maths, but I get it, we can't have loser Leonard outshine Sheldon.

He is good at Maths but at the same level I doubt it. Leonard has said before years ago, (might have been in Troll Manifestation) that he can't do the Math that Sheldon can.

Sheldon also has Synesthesia or whatever it's called and they are usually gifted at maths and numbers.

Leonard tests theories to prove or disprove them. I would imagine that requires them following the established equations and theory and testing them and introducing new variables.

Sheldon was brought on the project to do the maths so I don't see what the big issue is here.

Doesn't Sheldon always wins over Leonard ?

No. A lot of Leonard's colleagues respect him. Many think Sheldon is crazy. Proton said "...you are the genius." A lot of the time Sheldon barely functions.

Quote

Penny: What happened?

Leonard: Sheldon’s escaped and is terrorizing the village.

Penny: Okay. Have fun.

Scene: A children’s play area.

Leonard: Hi. I’m Dr. Hofstadter. Where is he?

Security Guard: Ball pit.

Leonard: Thanks for not calling the cops.

Security Guard: Oh, hey, it’s no big deal. My sister’s got a kid who’s special.

Leonard: Yeah, well, he’s extra special. Hey, Shelly. What you doing?

and ...

Quote

Assistant: Moving on. How about doing deliveries for a florist?

Sheldon: That seems acceptable.

Assistant: Do you have your own car?

Sheldon: I don’t drive.

Assistant: Of course you don’t. Mr. Cooper, let me just ask you a question. What was your last job?

Sheldon: Senior theoretical particle physicist at CalTech, focusing on M theory, or, in layman’s terms, string theory.

Assistant: I see. Just give me a second. Security!

Yes exactly. A big win.

It was also Leonard that Proton went to for help. In fact Proton first wondered if Sheldon was even "safe".

Even Leonard admits Sheldon is superior, academically, to him

From The Troll Manifestation:-

Leonard: I know this isn’t my area, and I could never do the math like you can, but could this be something?

He didn't say anything like that. Leonard just said that Sheldon knows Math better than him, which is true since theoretical physicists know Math better than experimental physicists. In return, I don't think Sheldon knew much about how to construct the experiments described in the superfluids paper they wrote in S. 9, because that is Leonard's expertise and not his own.

Academically they both have strengths. Leonard excels in the lab and Sheldon at doing the math.

It was Leonard who successfully disproved the element Sheldon had predicted.

It is in the on line transcript...

Quote

Leonard: Which means a spherical multidimensional superfluid shows the same negative-energy density as space-time. So what do you think? What do you think? So what do you think?

Sheldon: Hmm.

Leonard: What? Is it wrong? Have you seen it somewhere else?

Sheldon: Hmm.

Leonard: I know this isn’t my area, and I could never do the math like you can, but could this be something?

Sheldon: Well, you could have set Newton’s gravitational constant to one. And, ugh, the whole thing reeks of blueberry. You know I can’t stand these scented markers.

Leonard: No one told you to taste them. Come on, is, is this good or not?

Sheldon: It’s good.

Leonard: Really?

Sheldon: I like it. I think you’re on to something.

Leonard: You do? You’re not messing with me?

Sheldon: Not at all. In fact, I have got something for just such an occasion. I was starting to think I might never get a chance to give it to you. Good job.

Leonard: You’re giving me a sticker?

I meant that saying "I know this isn’t my area, and I could never do the math like you can, but could this be something?" it's not the same as admitting that Sheldon is academically superior. They work in different fields, obviously they excel at different skills.

Sheldon is an overrated, PHD Physicist with an over inflated ego. This is news? They need to bring Leslie back to put Sheldon back in his place. And is it also news. Sheldon degrades Leonard at every turn. And Leonard is perceived to be inferior to Sheldon in every category? Sheldon now also thinks he is a sexpert. Even though he is done it what 3 times likely, with someone has plain as Amy. I mean they even used the 200th episode for The Sheldon Appreciation episode lol. That was unbeleivable. To be quite honest I have never seen a popular tv show. Start to revolve their show around one character. As much as this show has around Sheldon. Reminds me of when they started to revolve Happy Days around the Fonz. I would love if next season Penny plans a surprise bday party for Leonard. And its the Leonard appreciation episode. The amount of stuff he has done for Penny, Sheldon, all his friends over the years. Is immesurable. Leonard deserves recognition. But that well never happen. Sheldon is just a "monster" these days. What I mean by that. Is he used to be some guy they just had to put up with. But now he takes up ALOT of room. And it is funny people talk about the original format getting stale. The funniest scenes in S10. Were mostly Penny and the guys. I remember this scene from season ten. I guess not doing it in a while, it has more impact. Because of its novelty.

Sheldon didn't take all the credit for that project, I think they did a nice job highlighting that all three were needed to make the project a success. Leonard had the initial theory, Howard with an idea to test it or make use of it and Sheldon did the maths.

It took all three of them to make it work, something Leonard pointed out on at least a couple of occasions.

Oh and I loved the Charlie Brown hair thing backfiring on them as they tried to manipulate and trick him. Thought it was hilarious and one of the highlights of the season.

I liked the way Penny and Bernie helped too by wrapping the tape round components while the men went out for what they called 'sodder' ( a machine for making New Jersey's biggest agricultural product, no doubt :) ) and talked about how Penny's interests had changed. I wonder if she ever did start that stamp collection ? Were Amy and Raj the only ones who had nothing to do with the project at all ?

None. The silly thing just kept posting mid-word of its own accord.

You really need to go back to the scene with Professor Proton, where he asks Leonard why he is friends with Sheldon. That explained their relationship so beautifully. Leonard says Sheldon is the smartest person he has ever met.

LOL! We all know Leonard has made digs at Sheldon as much as Sheldon has made digs at him. If you go back ep by ep and count them they are probably pretty even.

And that is only based on one episode. This idea that Leonard takes digs at Sheldon? I don't see it. All I see is scenarios thaat do not involve Leonard. Like Last episode before finalie Sheldon having a conversation with Amy. And he took a dig at Leonard's education. do you ever see the show allow Leonard to take indirect digs at Sheldon? This apologetic trend of posting in regards to Sheldon is madning

Overall your right in that Leonard is nice. When he says something about Sheldon it is out of utter frustration because Sheldon is so extremely frustrating.

It may sound as if people are whining but Saint Leonard got his halo knocked off good and proper. He genuinely almost sank his marriage. That's not trivial. :)

Even though Leonard may mock, it is never to any real effect. Does Sheldon heed him? Not likely. He sometimes makes sotte voce  asides pointing out the underlying ridiculousness of Sheldon's positions. Does it stop anything ridiculous happening? No. Leonard's comments never affect the outcome and Leonard's actions rarely affect the outcome. Leonard's role often is to mitigate that harm from Sheldon's actions.

He's like the straight Costello to Sheldon's Abbott. He has to roll with the punches and not land any of his own, or only some light touches. Penny gets to punch back to some degree. It's never fair on the fall-guy. But if you like Leonard then yes, it is unfair. Because it's not equal treatment. Hey ho :)

edit: but its meant to be funny. Still I liked it better when Sheldon "had his back" against Kurt. Haven't seen that kind of thing for a while. :)

3ku11 was just stating a fact.  Because they are criticizing Saint Sheldon? Let's not compare who's more of a dick, because based on canon Sheldon is 100 times more of dick than Leonard, even if neither is a saint.

Hardly a saint. More like an adult Charley Brown.
